"This is unbelievable!" Julio's voice boomed into the air as he opened the study door with force.
The oak door slammed against the wall with a crack that echoed through the large space.
The drive home had been in total silence, with neither father nor son saying a word—only the repeated images of what had happened in the council hall grazed their minds' eyes nonstop.
Julio's chest heaved, his face flushed crimson as he walked into the room. "He humiliated us!" His voice echoed in the space.
Lucious said nothing. His footsteps made no sound on the Persian rug as he crossed to the mini bar. His fingers wrapped around a crystal whiskey, and he lifted it off the shelf. He reached for a glass and poured the amber liquid into it.
"That bastard! How could he?!" Julio fumed.
"No, he didn't humiliate us." Lucious's voice carried the flatness of someone stating an unremarkable fact.
