Making a small underground base in an alley turned out to be easier than I expected.
Aside from the dirt and grime…
After a while, practice really does make perfect.
And honestly?
It didn't take long before everything started to feel… natural.
On top of that, making a furnace was easy.
Coal, on the other hand…
That was a bit more complicated.
For some reason, while I was digging, minerals just started showing up.
Out of nowhere.
Which raises a pretty interesting question—
If ores can appear like that…
Does that mean there's diamond somewhere around here too?
…
A theory for later.
For now, I had to work with what I had.
With a bit of extra effort—since working without a pickaxe is… problematic, but still manageable—
I got enough.
And then…
Smooth stone.
"Perfect."
With that, I started replacing everything around me.
Rough blocks gave way to something cleaner. More uniform.
The ground stopped feeling uneven.
The walls became sturdier.
And little by little…
The space started taking shape.
A room.
Simple.
But big enough.
Livable.
Or… almost.
Because there was a problem.
How was I supposed to hide this?
I stood there for a moment, staring at the entrance.
I could just seal it off whenever I was inside…
And open it again when I needed to leave.
But…
What about oxygen?
I know some things clearly don't work the same way in this world.
At least… not for me.
But I have absolutely no intention of finding that out by suffocating.
"Yeah… better not risk it."
I let out a breath.
So in the end…
I went with the simplest option.
And the most improvised one.
I dragged a few trash cans over and stacked them in front of the entrance.
It wasn't pretty.
Definitely not safe.
But…
For something temporary?
It was good enough.
Meanwhile, the furnace kept burning.
It looked completely different from the one in the base game.
Probably because of the building mods.
But here…
It felt real.
I could actually see the flames flickering inside.
Alive.
And yet, the moment I "touched" it…
The interface opened.
…
Yeah.
Still not used to this.
I think a part of my brain just decided the best way to deal with all this was to ignore it… and protect itself.
Funny, when you think about it.
I guess.
But that wasn't all.
I had to go outside a few times to figure out where exactly I was.
After some very advanced investigation—also known as reading a street sign—
It looked like I was in one of the outer districts.
One of those places where the so-called "web-head" usually patrols.
Speaking of which…
This world doesn't seem to be exactly like the comics.
Apparently, it's something else.
And honestly?
If there's a god out there…
I hope it stays that way.
Because I definitely don't want to deal with all the insane stuff from those versions.
As if the movie one wasn't already bad enough.
Anyway.
The plan right now is simple.
Make money.
I've thought of more than one way.
Of course…
I'm not going to steal!!!
Never!!
…
…
Just borrowing.
And that's how I managed to get some food from a convenience store.
Just grabbed it…
And dropped it into my inventory.
Which, by the way, gave me another idea.
Test the limits.
It seems like I can't store anything too large.
Which… kind of makes sense?
A car?
No.
But sixty-four stacks of dirt?
No problem.
…
Yeah.
I think I'm starting to get used to this.
