Chapter 3 - The Dream

The entire afternoon, I just wondered about Lord Blackville. Something about him was just so different from the others. I did indeed eat biscuits until I was full, but the thought of the young Lord that he likes them too, made my appetite stronger. I somehow felt alone in my house, even with many house cleaners, workers and my family, just because of those beautiful moments that I had for a few minutes. Mama came in so early. I wish that she had come a bit late, so that I could have at least asked him his name.

"Aureline, dear! Can I come in?" Said mother from the outside as she knocked at the door. I stood up from my sofa and gently placed the book on the nearest table.

"Yes, for sure, mama," I replied gently.

"What were you doing?" She asked as she just walked quickly toward me with her teeth clenched tightly with excitement. She sat down on the sofa and gestured for me to also sit beside her.

"Nothing. Just reading, again, as usual." I chuckled softly before saying, "What is making you so excited now?" I asked her as my smile slowly faded away.

"So you don't know about it?" She asked me as she smiled mischievously and scanned my eyes.

"Don't know about what?" I raised my eyebrow in curiosity. I knew that it was something related to a ball or marriage, but I did not know what it was going to be this time.

"Lord Sebastian will be attending Lady Cruncher's ball." She laughed in excitement as she patted my hand.

"Who is Lord Sebastian now?" I asked her a question again. One thing about me is that I question a little too much, which sometimes upsets my mother. However, she has stopped complaining that I question too much since I became the diamond.

"Eh, come on, Aureline. You don't know Lord Sebastian?" She read my face, searching for the validity of my question.

"No, mama. I don't know anything about this man." I replied, joining my eyebrows this time.

"Stop it, Aureline. He is the very young man you met earlier this morning at the biscuit shop! Lord Sebastian Blackville." I finally took a deep breath. For a moment, I thought that I had a suitor. However, I was indeed wrong. Finally, I came to know that man's full name.

"Oh, I remember him. But I'm sorry, Mama; I never got the chance to ask him his name." I said, finally smiling, pleasantly relieved.

"Oh, that's fine. By the way, what were you both talking about in the shop, earlier?" She asked me as her mischievousness came to the verge again.

"Nothing, Mama. It-it was just-eh, we only talked about the biscuits, and that's all." I said as I smiled a bit. I lowered my head and brushed my left arm, as my cheeks blushed.

"Oh, Aureline. Look at me, I know that you didn't talk to him about anything related to marriage, but I know that look, I know the face that you are making right now. You have started to like him, right?" She asked. She smiled kindly this time as she untangled my hand to hold them in hers, again.

"No, mama. Do not think of it like that. I've only met him once." I assured her, opening my eyes wide. However, there was a little voice coming from the deepest part of my heart which, if it had a tongue, would have said; say that you have started to like him.

"Eh, fine! But always remember that a mother is the most trusted friend of her child." She kissed my hands that she held in hers.

Screams were everywhere. Screams of children, screams of mothers, screams of fathers. The scene was horrible. There were people−people were not ordinary, but had their bodies fully made up of wood, with moss and leaves growing out through some areas. Their eyes were all black, and they were not the size of a normal person either. They were the size of houses. There were cries. There was dust in the sky. The scene was horrible. The woody giants took a few people and children with them, leaving their families crying and grieving for London. One of them was a familiar face. Helena.

That face was my sister. The poor girl was screaming as she was getting snatched directly from us, leaving my mother and me crying and screaming. It was pure horror. There was one more thing familiar in the scene−my home. Each woody giant was carrying people and children inside my house. The house's walls were already broken down. I saw everything until one giant captured me, and I woke up.

I woke up exhausted. I was drenched in my sticky-cold sweat. My fists were constantly shaking as my breathing trembled. I was so unsure. I hadn't seen anything like that in my dreams before. Blood was clotting inside my veins as I thought about the scene. It wasn't even morning yet. I tried to sleep. I turned left, I turned right, but nothing. I got insomnia from the thought of my unreal-looking dream, but sooner or later, it would eventually come true. I was constantly swallowing hard. My brain stopped working. It all looked unreal, but it was the future.

I immediately stood up to take my dream diary from my bookshelf before sitting at my desk chair. I opened the ink with my shaking hands to write down every detail that I saw in my dream. In my dream diary, I write every dream that I have. Every dream that I wrote had come into light.
