Chapter 4 - Insolent Disciple

The Five Thunder Righteous Method was divided into two parts. Only after becoming a Celestial Master could one cultivate the complete Thunder Method. However, disciples who possessed the qualifications to become a Celestial Master were allowed to practice half of it.

In the past, cultivating even half of the Thunder Method had a decisive prerequisite—one had to retain a pure body.

If a practitioner was no longer pure, they would generally lose the qualification to cultivate the Thunder Method.

But within the Celestial Master Mansion, some disciples had already lost their purity before entering the sect. In order to give these people a chance to cultivate the Thunder Method, the predecessors of the Celestial Master Mansion changed their approach and modified its foundational method of cultivation.

Because the conditions for entering the practice differed, the resulting Thunder Methods naturally differed as well. Those who cultivated it with a pure body produced the Yang Five Thunder, while those who had lost their purity cultivated the Yin Five Thunder. The two restrained and complemented each other, each with their own strengths.

Since transmigrating, Gojo had been taken in by Zhang Jingqing at a young age and had spent most of his time on Longhu Mountain. Aside from the occasional trip down the mountain to purchase daily necessities, he had rarely left.

Thus, he still retained a pure body, and the Thunder Method he cultivated was naturally the Yang Five Thunder.

As he guided the qi—using heart-fire to lead the lung-metal energy—silver lightning began to flicker in his palm, spreading along his arms and gradually extending across his body.

"The Five Thunder Righteous Method is called 'Five Thunder,' but in truth, it is Five Qi."

"Pure Yang governs fire, known as heart qi. Within Yang lies lesser Yin, governing metal, known as lung qi. Pure Yin governs water, known as kidney qi. Within Yin lies lesser Yang, governing wood, known as liver qi. The harmony of Yin and Yang governs earth, known as spleen qi. When the five qi converge into one, the method formed is the Five Thunder Righteous Method."

"Right now, I haven't broken my purity. My essence is intact, my qi is full, and my yang energy is abundant. So by using heart-fire to lead lung-metal energy, what I cultivate is the Crimson Palace Thunder."

As Gojo recalled his master's teachings, he continued circulating the Yang Five Thunder.

But at that moment—

The faint lightning suddenly crackled violently and exploded, instantly scorching the sleeves on his arms into blackened tatters.

"As expected…"

"With my current talent, I can bring the Yang Five Thunder to an introductory level, but going further is still difficult."

Looking at his arms, now bleeding from the backlash of the lightning, Gojo took a deep breath. With practiced ease, he pulled out bandages from beneath his bed, applied ointment, and tightly wrapped his wounds.

"With both hands injured, there's no way I can keep training for now."

Feeling the faint throbbing pain in his arms, he let out a sigh and walked out of his room.

After spending the entire day cultivating alone, it was time to relax a bit—and see his fellow disciples.

As soon as he arrived at the open space in front of the main hall, he saw Senior Brother Huaiyi sweeping the ground back and forth, looking quite busy.

"Senior Brother Huaiyi, still cleaning?"

Gojo greeted him as he approached.

Since Huaiyi had not yet been given a surname, and had never mentioned his own, Gojo simply addressed him as Senior Brother Huaiyi.

"Oh, Junior Brother Su~"

"I noticed this place was a bit dirty, so I came to clean it up."

Hearing Gojo's voice, Huaiyi turned around, scratched the back of his head, and replied with a cheerful smile.

"Senior Brother Huaiyi really never sits still, huh."

Gojo responded with a grin. Just as he was about to say more, he saw Zhang Jingqing walking out of the main hall.

"Master!"

Gojo quickly reminded Huaiyi, then bowed respectfully.

"Mm. Gojo, come with me."

Zhang Jingqing's gaze swept over the two of them. After speaking, he continued walking forward.

Gojo waved at Huaiyi before quickly following behind his master.

Under his guidance, the two soon arrived at the place where Thunder Method was usually taught.

After stopping, Zhang Jingqing suddenly asked,

"Gojo, what do you think of Huaiyi?"

"Senior Brother Huaiyi?"

"Although he appears ordinary and his strength seems average, he trains diligently in secret. Among us, aside from Senior Brother Zhiwei and a few others, he's actually one of the strongest."

Gojo thought for a moment before answering honestly.

"Hahaha!"

Hearing this, Zhang Jingqing burst into laughter.

"That brat Huaiyi—does he really think he's hiding it well? You saw right through him!"

"That big-eared rascal really thinks he's subtle, huh?"

After speaking, Zhang Jingqing turned to Gojo, his gaze sweeping over him before stopping at the bandages wrapped around his arms.

"Gojo, how has your Thunder Method training been recently?"

"Master, please take a look."

Gojo immediately activated the Yang Five Thunder.

In an instant, silver light flickered in his palm, crackling sharply.

The flashing lightning illuminated both their faces in a pale glow.

After demonstrating briefly, Gojo dispelled the lightning, pointed at his bandaged arms, and said,

"This disciple is slow-witted. This is as far as I can go for now. If I push further, I lose control."

"In just a few days, reaching this level is already quite good."

"As the saying goes, reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles."

"Since joining the Celestial Master Mansion, you've rarely gone down the mountain. In a few months, you'll accompany Zhiwei and me to attend a banquet."

As he spoke, Zhang Jingqing took out an invitation from his robes and handed it to Gojo.

"A banquet?"

Gojo accepted it and looked down.

On its surface was a single character—"Lu."

Clearly, it was an invitation to the eightieth birthday celebration of the Lu family's old patriarch.

"Master… with my current strength, wouldn't it be inappropriate for me to attend?"

Gojo returned the invitation, speaking somewhat awkwardly.

If he were as strong as Senior Brother Zhiwei, he would agree without hesitation.

But right now, he couldn't even withstand a single move from him. Attending such a gathering would only invite ridicule.

"With me there, what are you afraid of?"

"And precisely because your strength is lacking, you need to go out and broaden your horizons. Staying on the mountain and training blindly won't get you far!"

Zhang Jingqing spoke plainly about his intentions.

"But didn't Senior Brother Zhiwei manage just fine?"

Gojo muttered quietly,

"He's already undefeated among our peers."

Hearing this, Zhang Jingqing shot him a fierce glare and immediately smacked him on the head.

"You insolent disciple! You dare talk back!"

"And besides, that brat Zhiwei—he's coming along too!"
