Chapter 80 - The School's Second Class

The second class arrived over five days.

Not eleven students from nine cities like the first class.

Twenty-three students from nineteen cities.

They came through the eastern gate and the northern gate and the western approach road and one of them — a woman named Brie from the coastal city three hundred kilometers west who Bex the Tide Walker had been in contact with for two weeks — arrived by boat on the river that ran through the lower guild district and walked up the bank to the clinic door with river mud on her boots and the specific expression of someone who had been traveling for a very long time and was not going to let mud stop them now.

Kael's mother opened the door.

"You're muddy," she said.

"Yes," Brie said.

"Come in," she said. "There's tea."

Brie came in.

The second class was different from the first in ways that the first class hadn't been positioned to be.
