Chapter 11 - Chapter:10 The Secret World

Night had already settled over Shanghai when Mei Lin finally left the Zhen Group building. The glass tower behind her reflected the city lights like a giant mirror, glowing against the dark sky.

She pulled her coat tighter and walked toward the bus stop. Her mind was still stuck on what happened earlier that day.

Liang Zhen had been acting strangely again.

He had suddenly left the office in the middle of a meeting, his expression tense, almost angry. No explanation. No warning. Just gone.

And somehow… Mei Lin felt worried.

It didn't make sense. He was just her boss.

Nothing more.

She shook her head and tried to clear her thoughts. The last bus arrived, and she climbed in, sitting near the window.

Across the city, on the top floor of Zhen Group, Liang Zhen stood in his office, staring out at the skyline.

His jaw was tight.

Something was wrong.

His instincts had been restless all day. The wolf inside him was uneasy, pacing like a caged beast.

A knock came at the door.

"Come in," he said coldly.

The door opened and a man walked in casually, hands in his pockets.

Chen Kai.

Unlike Liang Zhen's formal black suit, Chen Kai looked relaxed in a dark jacket and jeans. A playful smile rested on his face, but his eyes were sharp.

"You called me here like it was an emergency," Chen Kai said. "What's going on?"

Liang Zhen didn't turn around.

"The scent," he said quietly.

Chen Kai frowned slightly. "What scent?"

Liang Zhen finally turned toward him, his eyes darker than usual.

"In my company."

Chen Kai leaned against the desk, curious now.

"What about it?"

Liang Zhen's voice lowered.

"There's a woman working here. Her scent… it's strange."

Chen Kai raised an eyebrow.

"Strange how?"

Liang Zhen hesitated for a moment, as if choosing his words carefully.

"It makes my wolf restless."

The playful look disappeared from Chen Kai's face.

That was not normal.

"Who is she?" he asked seriously.

"Mei Lin," Liang Zhen replied.

Chen Kai repeated the name slowly.

"Your secretary?"

Liang Zhen nodded once.

"I don't know why. But whenever she's near… my instincts react."

Chen Kai crossed his arms, thinking.

For a moment the room was silent except for the faint sound of traffic far below.

Then Chen Kai spoke carefully.

"You know what that could mean."

Liang Zhen's eyes hardened.

"I doubt it."

But deep down… he wasn't sure.

Because there were only two reasons a werewolf would react that way to a human.

Either she was connected to the supernatural world…

Or she was something far more dangerous.

Chen Kai pushed himself away from the desk.

"Maybe we should look into her background," he suggested.

Liang Zhen didn't answer immediately.

Instead, his mind drifted back to the strange feeling he had experienced earlier that day when Mei Lin had entered his office.

For a moment, his wolf had nearly taken control.

That had never happened before.

Not even during full moons.

Finally, Liang Zhen spoke.

"Find out everything about her."

Chen Kai nodded.

"No problem."

But before he could leave, Liang Zhen added something else.

"And Chen Kai…"

Chen Kai looked back.

"Yes?"

Liang Zhen's voice became colder.

"Keep this quiet."

Chen Kai smirked lightly.

"When have I ever been loud about pack matters?"

Liang Zhen didn't respond.

He simply turned back toward the window, staring at the glowing city.

Somewhere out there, Mei Lin was living her normal life.

Completely unaware of the storm slowly forming around her.

But Liang Zhen could feel it.

Something about her presence had awakened his wolf.

And if his instincts were right…

The woman who had just entered his company might be connected to a secret he had lost seven years ago.

A secret buried deep in a forgotten night.

Outside, the moon slowly rose above Shanghai.

And somewhere in a small apartment across the city, a little boy suddenly woke up from sleep.

For a brief moment…

His eyes glowed faintly in the dark.
