Days passed, and Oliver's feelings for Mia began to grow. Liz noticed it and tried her best to hide her own feelings.
Liz: Oliver, come quickly! We're going to be late again.
Oliver: Wait a sec… Mom, where are my shoes?
Liz: I can't believe this, Oliver.
Oliver's Mom: They're under your bed.
Oliver: Oh, yeah. Found them.
Once Oliver was ready, they both headed toward university.
On the way:
Oliver: I want to tell you something.
Liz (pretending to be casual): You want to tell me that you like Mia.
Oliver (shocked): How did you know that?
Liz: I've known since our first day at university—the way you look at her
Oliver: Was it that obvious?
Liz (hiding her feelings): Yeah.
Oliver: You always know things about me.
Liz (looking at him): And you… never know things about me.
Oliver (looking confused): What do you mean?
Liz (turning her gaze away): Nothing.
Oliver: I know you're upset because I didn't give you a treat. Don't worry, I'll give you one on Sunday.
Liz (forcing a smile): Hmm… okay.
At university:
Mia (waving): Hey, Liz! Are you feeling better now?
Liz (confused): Yeah… what happened to me?
Mia: Oliver told me you were sick, so that's why you didn't come for dinner last night.
Oliver (looking at Liz with pleading eyes): Yeah… Liz, didn't you text me that you weren't feeling well?
Liz (hurt, forcing a smile): Yeah… I actually forgot.
Mia (smiling): You always forget things.
Liz: Yeah…
Oliver: Guys, look at my shirt! How do I look?
Mia: You look good.
Oliver (blushing): Thanks, Mia. Liz, you didn't tell me…
Liz (looking at him teasingly): Moon.
Oliver: I didn't know I looked this good.
Liz (pretending to be cool): So full of yourself… I mean a moon with lots of dots.
Oliver: You're so bad.
Mia (laughing): You're pouting like a kid, Oliver.
Oliver: Liz, your treat is canceled.
Liz: No, that's cheating!
Oliver (heading toward class): No, I'm not giving it to you.
Liz (following him): Oliver! That's cheating—I'll complain to Aunt!
Oliver: I'm not scared.
Liz: Just wait, you monkey!
Mia (smiling): Hey, guys, stop fighting!
Oliver: I'm not fighting—she's the one who always fights.
Liz (mocking him): She's the one who fights!
Mia: You two are impossible.
Oliver: Let's go, Mia. I don't want to talk to her.
Liz: I also don't want to talk to a monkey.
They always fought like this—but the next day, everything returned to normal.
At home:
Liz: Mom, I'm going.
Liz's Mom: Where, dear?
Liz: I teased Oliver, and now he's mad like a child. I'm going to make up with him.
Liz's Mom (smiling): Okay, dear.
Liz quietly walked to Oliver's house. She saw him sitting with his mother
Oliver's Mom (smiling): You've been so happy lately. Don't tell me you found a girlfriend.
Oliver (blushing): No, Mom, it's not like that.
Oliver's Mom: What is it then?
Oliver: I like someone
Oliver's Mom: Let me guess… is it Liz?
Oliver: No, Mom. She's not my type. I'll never love her.
Oliver's Mom: Don't say that. She's your best friend.
Liz, hearing everything, felt a sharp pain in her chest. She dropped the flowers and the letter she had brought and ran home.
After Liz left:
Oliver: I know, Mom… I like her as a friend, not as a lover.
Oliver's Mom: Okay, now get up and bring me some vegetables.
On his way to the market, Oliver noticed a bouquet at the door with a letter attached. He opened the letter and read it.
Oliver: Okay… so Grandma feels guilty. Alright, I forgive her.
Meanwhile, back at home, Liz was crying uncontrollably.
Liz's Mom (knocking at the door): Dear, please open the door. At least tell your mom what happened.
Liz (crying): Mom, I don't want to talk to anyone. Please leave me alone.
Liz threw all the gifts Oliver had given her across the room.
By evening:
Liz's Mom (worried): What happened, dear? Why do your eyes look so swollen?
Liz (forcing a smile): Nothing, Mom.
Liz's Mom: Please, dear… tell me what happened?
Liz (forcing another smile): Mom, give me some time. I'll tell you everything later.
Liz's Mom: Alright… but please, don't hurt yourself.
Liz: Don't worry, Mom. I'm not that weak.
