Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Seed of Recognition

The sun was slowly setting over the field, casting long golden shadows across the soil. The land that had once looked completely ordinary now carried a subtle difference—something hard to define but impossible to ignore once noticed.

The young man stood at the edge of the field, quietly observing his own work. His hands were still slightly covered in dirt, but his expression was calm, even satisfied.

"…Progress is stable," he murmured to himself.

In his mind, everything was going according to plan.

Cultivation was supposed to be slow at the beginning. Foundations required patience. And what he was doing here—working the earth, aligning movement, refining intent—was clearly building a deeper base than normal training.

Even if others didn't understand it yet.

Behind him, the old man stood with his arms folded, silently watching the field. His expression was harder to read than usual. Not confusion exactly… but something closer to concern mixed with curiosity.

He had seen many farmers in his life.

But never had he seen soil change like this after one day of work.

He walked forward slowly, crouching and picking up a handful of dirt. He rubbed it between his fingers, feeling its texture carefully.

"…This shouldn't be happening," he muttered under his breath.

The soil was looser, yes. That could be explained. But it was also more balanced. The moisture distribution felt more natural. Even the surrounding air carried a slight sense of ease, as if the environment itself was less tense.

None of this should result from simple manual labor.

He turned his gaze toward the young man.

The boy was still standing straight, looking at the field as if evaluating his own progress.

The old man spoke casually.

"You're satisfied with today's work?"

The young man nodded immediately.

"Yes, senior. The foundation has been stabilized."

The old man paused slightly.

"…Foundation?"

"Yes," the young man said seriously. "Earth cultivation requires stable base alignment. If the foundation is unstable, future breakthroughs will collapse."

The old man stared at him for a long moment.

Then exhaled slowly.

"I see…"

But his tone didn't fully agree. It was more like someone choosing not to argue with something they couldn't easily explain.

The young man took his silence as confirmation.

"As expected," he thought. "Senior is observing my progress carefully."

A sense of reassurance settled in his mind.

If the old man was watching without correcting him, it meant he was on the right path.

Meanwhile, at the edge of the field, the first farmer who had visited earlier stood silently behind a tree. He had returned without announcing himself.

He had been watching for a while.

And now, he was confused.

The field didn't just look better.

It felt… different.

Like standing here made his mind calmer than usual. His thoughts were slower, clearer, more organized.

"…What is this place?" he whispered again.

He didn't understand it.

But he knew one thing for certain.

He would come back again.

And next time, he wouldn't be alone.
