Chapter 3 - Exploited

Originally, according to the regulations of the Ghost Control Sect, managing an acre of spiritual land should yield five Spirit Stones a month.

This wasn't the first time he had been embezzled; from the first day Luo feng became a handyman, he had been exploited. It was said that a handyman once reported it, but disappeared the next day.

Luo feng knew this was true; the original owner happened to know that handyman. After the original owner found out, he was so scared that he couldn't sleep well for several days, and he became even more afraid to resist Manager Li's exploitation.

Luo feng naturally didn't dare to have any objections now. In the Cultivation World, strength was revered. With Manager Li's Qi Refinement stage six cultivation, even all the handymen here combined wouldn't be enough for him to defeat alone.

If he dared to say one more word, Luo feng estimated he wouldn't see tomorrow's sun.

"Luo feng, how have you considered the matter I spoke to you about last time?" Manager Li glanced at Luo feng and asked indifferently.

Luo feng naturally knew what Manager Li was referring to. Speaking of which, the original owner's death was somewhat related to this matter.

A week ago, Manager Li called the original owner over and told him to give up his handyman status and leave the Ghost Control Sect. If the original owner agreed, he would be compensated with 12 Low-Grade Spirit Stones.

How could the original owner agree? He had gone through great lengths to obtain this handyman status, and 12 Spirit Stones were like sending off a beggar.

However, due to Manager Li's reputation, the original owner didn't dare to directly refuse, only saying he would go back and consider it.

In the following days, the original owner was constantly restless. Due to an unstable state of mind, he accidentally went astray while Cultivating, leading to his death. Afterwards, Luo feng Transmigrated.

Luo feng respectfully said, "Manager Li, could you please give me three more days? I will definitely give you a satisfactory answer by then."

Upon hearing this, Manager Li's heart flared with anger. A mere handyman dared to defy him. His Qi Refinement Stage Six aura completely erupted.

Luo feng felt as if he was facing a terrifying Vicious Beast, his legs unsteady.

But Luo feng gritted his teeth and didn't fall.

Manager Li was slightly surprised. This Luo feng was usually the most timid; today, he could actually withstand his aura. He said in a cold tone, "Alright, I'll give you three more days. I hope you don't disappoint me, otherwise, you know my methods."

After Manager Li finished speaking, he disregarded Luo feng's reaction and turned to leave the spiritual land where they were.

After Manager Li left, Li Hu immediately came over and helped Luo feng to the side to rest.

"Luo feng, listen to my advice, don't go against Manager Li. His Qi Refinement Stage Six cultivation is not something we can resist," Li Hu sighed and said.

He actually knew what Manager Li wanted from Luo feng, but he was powerless, as he was only at Qi Refining Stage Three.

"Brother Hu, don't worry, I'm fine, just a little exhausted."

He took a slight breath, then continued to ask, "Brother Hu, do you know why Manager Li insists on me leaving the Ghost Control Sect?"

"I only know a little about this matter, but don't say I told you. It's said that Manager Li has a nephew who also wants to become a handyman in the Ghost Control Sect. Manager Li wants to assign him to his subordinates, but the roster is already full.

Only one can be removed, and I don't know why you were chosen," Li Hu explained briefly.

Only then did Luo feng understand the reason Manager Li wanted him to leave. As for why he was chosen, he guessed it was because the original owner seemed easy to bully, always timid and introverted.

Coupled with his low cultivation and lack of background, the original owner was probably the easiest to dismiss among the handymen.

However, Luo feng had no good solution for this situation. The power gap between the two sides was too great. If Manager Li hadn't wanted to blow things out of proportion, the original owner would have probably vanished long ago.

After a short rest, Luo feng resumed his work. If he didn't take good care of the Spirit Cleansing Herb, causing it to grow poorly, and a handle was caught, Manager Li would surely not mind expelling him from the Ghost Control Sect.

At night, Luo feng couldn't calm his mind no matter what, and naturally couldn't enter a Cultivation state. With the lesson of his predecessor, Luo feng dared not force himself to Cultivate.

He simply tidied up the room, organizing all the useful items the original owner had.

12 Spirit Stones, 24 catties of dried food, One Medium Grade Soul Gathering Banner, a set of Talisman crafting tools, one bottle of spiritual ink, a stack of blank Talisman paper, and seven books.

This was all of the original owner's possessions. The most valuable among them was probably the Soul Gathering Banner. This was purchased by the original owner from the market after becoming a handyman in the Ghost Control Sect.

It basically cost all of the original owner's previous savings, only to find out that it couldn't even unleash the power of a Low Grade Spiritual Artifact, and was therefore abandoned by the original owner.

Luo feng held the Soul Refining Banner in his hand and examined it carefully. The pole was cold, and there were some incomprehensible runes on the banner face.

Unfortunately, there was only one Ghost inside, and it was the weakest kind, not even at Qi Refining Stage Two, completely unable to unleash the power of the Soul Refining Banner.

However, the original owner wasn't exactly swindled. As long as a suitable Ghost was captured and refined into it, the full power of this Soul Refining Banner could be unleashed.

Unfortunately, powerful Ghosts were not easy to find. With the original owner's strength, he would only be sending himself to his death. That's why the original owner was disheartened and left it in a corner to gather dust.

Luo feng fiddled with it for a while before putting it away. This Spiritual Artifact was temporarily useless to him.

Luo feng began to look through the books left by the original owner.

Compendium of Talisman Drawing.

Notes on Spiritual Plant Cultivation.

Detailed Explanation of Five Basic Spells.

Detailed Explanation of Minor Spirit Rain Technique.

Cultivator's Survival Guide.

Compendium of Common Spirit Medicine.

Profound Water Art.

Since Luo feng had previously experienced the efficacy of the Cleansing Talisman, he was now somewhat interested in the Compendium of Talisman Drawing. If he could master the drawing methods of several common Talismans, even if he left the Ghost Control Sect, he should be able to live well.

The common Talismans introduced included the Cleansing Talisman, Light Body Talisman, Heavenly Eye Talisman, Fireball Talisman, Water Arrow Talisman, Entanglement Talisman, Spirit Shield Talisman, and Ghost Raising Talisman, a total of eight types of spiritual Talismans.

These Talismans could generally be drawn during the Early Qi Refinement Stage. Only the Ghost Raising Talisman was special, considered a characteristic basic Talisman within the Ghost Control Sect's territory.

It was specifically used to temporarily store Ghosts. The Ghost Control Sect was famous for controlling Ghosts, so many of its Cultivation Techniques and Spiritual Artifacts were inextricably linked to Ghosts.

The purpose of the Ghost Raising Talisman was to temporarily store Ghosts, preventing them from being damaged. It was a relatively popular Talisman in the market.

If he could master the drawing method of this Talisman, Luo feng wouldn't have to worry about resources during the Early Qi Refinement Stage.

Its price in the market reached three Spirit Stones per Talisman, making it the most expensive among the eight types of Talismans.

However, being expensive naturally had its reasons. Luo feng saw that the drawing method for the Ghost Raising Talisman was the most complex.

After reading the Compendium of Talisman Drawing for a while, Luo feng's mood calmed down. If I leave, I leave. With the enlightenment pearl, where can I not go?
