AREA - OKUTAMA.
Ameni puts on a peculiar expression, her head turning towards Raikun. "I suppose you already know that." She continues, "so why bother asking me?"
Raikun stares at Ameni, the tension was rising between them.
Suddenly, the van halts to a stop. Both of them get startled. The driver from the front turns back and says, "we've arrived, ma'am."
Ameni sighs, "why would he even stop.." she thinks to herself as she gets down from the vehicle. Raikun is seen behind her.
Raikun slowly says, "Okutama." Ameni nods.
The air was shallow; it was hard to breathe.
The dust particles were attaching themselves to the fabric of their clothes.
Raikun looks at the trees, taking in the sight. "how..? It's only been 10 years." His eyes widen.
The trees were dried up; a weird dark green substance was dripping from them.
The grass was dry, hard to walk on.
He looks ahead at big walls put upfront in the area. There were neurogates.
Ameni takes a gas mask and puts it on her face as every officer does the same.
Raikun looks at them with curiosity. Then he looks at his cuffs and up again at Ameni. "what about these?" he says quietly as he puts his arms in the air, hinting her to remove them.
"Officers, remove the cuffs." She commands as all of them go up to Raikun and remove the cuffs. He quickly stretches his arms as he gets handed over a mask by one of the officers.
"Sel," Ameni asks, "contact the neu-operators to permit the neurogate pass."
The timid-looking officer quickly taps on his wrist, sending a signal to the neu-operators.
Raikun glances at the blue light from Sel's wrist,
and thinks to himself, "a wrist watch, huh?"
The neurogates start opening with a loud, rustic noise.
There was light coming from inside of the walls. All of them start moving towards the gates. There were security checkpoints.
Ameni says, "you can remove those masks now." Raikun quickly removes his mask. "I don't think I would be able to wear one of those again," he thinks to himself.
As he made his way inside, his eyes got hit by glowing sunlight. He covers his eyes as he opens them again. With awe and confusion, he looks at the sunlight and looks back towards the gate.
"Outside of the neurogates... it was gloomy. What." His mind rambled on about how this came to be.
A pale-looking girl comes into view, her white hair startling Raikun. Ameni sees her with surprise and says, "Lieutenant Kemara?"
Kemara smiles quietly with a voidful expression and replies, "good afternoon, ma'am.." she continues, "I just came here looking for you, it's been long since I was with you after all." Her bangs were covering her eyes.
Raikun thinks to himself, "I can't read her at all." Ameni chuckles nervously, "Yes, Lieutenant, uh," she glances over at Raikun and speaks, "meet Raikun, he's gonna be working with us for now."
Raikun fixes his eyes on Kemara, lost in his thoughts.
Ameni looks over at Raikun. "Her name is Violet Kemara, the lieutenant of Division VIII."
Raikun snaps back into the real world and speaks, "Oh, that's surprising." Violet turns her head sideways and questions him, "why do you think so?" Raikun speaks with a straight face, "You don't look like you would in CIVIL-" His voice gets cut off.
Ameni notices Violet's expression beginning to change, her gaze sharpened and quickly glances at Raikun and says, "now, you're required to attend the meeting of the officials." Ameni sighs, "they have some..." she pauses, "opinions on you."
