"Mother, I only want to know whether everything is fine, as their family doctor," Scott said, his voice still cheerful but now with a professional mannerism.
Linda gave him an amused look. "Oh, not this one, son. For this kind of case, I'm their family doctor. Moreover, Zachary will be angry if he finds out that you begged me to tell you the results before him...he might beat you..."
That made Scott pause, as if something had struck him. "Ow. Yeah. You have a point."
Sienna lowered her gaze to hide her smile. She could easily imagine Zachary's reaction if Scott learned about the pregnancy before he did. Her husband might stay quiet, but she knew he would be annoyed that his friend got such important news before him.
"Fine. I'll leave," Scott finally agreed, though he sounded as if he were making a great sacrifice. "But please let me know if anything is wrong."
"Scott, I'm a doctor. I know what I'm doing," Linda replied, waving him away.
