Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Brute Force Adventurer

After settling down in Cinderstone City, Talia took Sylvia to visit her sister Winnie's residence.

"Grandpa said I should ask my sister to help me find a job in Cinderstone City. Otherwise, if I keep playing with the fools in the village every day, I'll turn into one too," Talia complained in a low voice as they walked. This was the reason she had followed Sylvia to Cinderstone City.

Hearing this, Sylvia couldn't help but cover her mouth and chuckle.

"What kind of work is your sister Winnie doing in the city right now?"

"Her? I'm not sure, but I know my brother-in-law works at the 'Oak Barrel' Chamber of Commerce. Specifically, it seems to be something related to bookkeeping."

"People in the village are very happy if they can earn 3 silver coins a month, but my brother-in-law can get 6 silver coins at the Chamber of Commerce. The benefits are quite good."

"My sister's job changes frequently. Sometimes she works as an introductory tutor for children, and sometimes she's a front desk waitress."

"A front desk waitress makes about 3.5 silver coins a month. An introductory teacher makes quite a bit more, up to 5 silver coins a month at most."

Talia introduced the situation in Cinderstone City to Sylvia. Ordinary working peasants here could earn about 3 silver coins a month, but it was hard work and not as leisurely as the village. Slightly better jobs, such as waiters, front desk staff, or shop assistants, paid 3.5 to 4 silver coins, but they generally only wanted young people who were literate and decent-looking.

The two walked along the main road of the East District. The streets here were relatively clean, with many shops lining the road. They could see clothing tailor shops, utensil shops, furniture shops, oil presses, and places selling weapons and armor—things rarely seen in villages—all right next to the Adventurers Guild.

Compared to other shops, the Adventurers Guild clearly had a lot of foot traffic. Many people were coming and going, and one could see many individuals carrying weapons and equipment. A few among them were physically robust, and Sylvia could feel the essence radiating from them.

Name: Unknown

Race: Human (Mortal Body)

Status: Healthy (A few hidden injuries)

Talent:

Sturdy [Good Grade]: You easily grow solid muscles, provided you have enough nutrition. This talent will increase your appetite.

Fate Card: [Person of Brute Force] (First Order: Blood Law); within a light red border, a physically robust man stands with his head held high and back straight, showing off his well-defined muscles.

'Through the training of the Breathing Technique and the stimulation of the Blood Law essence, your physique grows sturdier by the day. The Brute Force brought by these muscles is the real deal.'

Effect:

[Brute Force Lv.2]: Increases your base strength. Even without using any abilities or secret techniques, you possess more than twice the strength of an ordinary person. This allows you to use heavier weapons and thicker armor.

ability card:

[Breathing Technique Lv.2] (Blood Law): Relies on breathing to regulate the blood flow rate, thereby driving and enhancing the strength and reaction speed of the entire body. This ability places demands on both the heart and the body and cannot be used for long periods (suggested not to exceed 3 minutes per day).

[Blood-Colored Muscle Lv.1] (Blood Law): Activates the characteristics of the 'Blood Law' essence, causing your muscles to expand rapidly and granting a brief increase in strength. (Suggested not to exceed 2 times per day)

A passing burly man walked into the adventurer's hall, laughing and chatting with his companions. The Nature of the 'Blood Law' radiating from him was so conspicuous that it was hard for Sylvia not to notice.

Seeing Sylvia's gaze fixed on the burly man in the distance, Talia also shifted her eyes over.

"That's a Badged Adventurer." She saw a copper badge with crossed swords pinned to his armor.

"That means he's an adventurer whose strength has been recognized by the Adventurers Guild. Certain tasks can only be taken by them."

The young girl nodded, and then the two continued forward.

After they left, the robust adventurer and his companions walked into the Adventurers Guild hall. A youth behind him spoke excitedly.

"Big Brother Jello, how much bounty can we get this time?"

"Hahaha, at least 60 silver. Don't worry, you'll get your share." His large palm patted the youth.

"Mike, you performed very well this time. Study hard, and in the future, you can be just like me, haha." He gave a hearty laugh of encouragement, and the other companions around him also laughed. Some teased the youth who had just recently entered the trade, while others offered quiet encouragement.

"Of course, I'm going to make big money." Young Mike rubbed his nose with great ambition.

"I am a once-in-a-century genius from our village. I learned the Breathing Technique at sixteen, and my swordsmanship is unrivaled." Indeed, with such strength, it was no wonder he was so ambitious.

"I was also in my twenties when I suddenly comprehended the Breathing Technique." Speaking of this, Jello felt a bit sentimental, recalling some old matters.

"Forget it, let's not mention the past. Today we'll drink well and get some meat to eat." The group walked toward the front desk of the Adventurers Guild and took out a cloth bag from their backs, opening it to reveal several wolf heads, including one giant wolf head with crimson fur and a hole in its lower jaw.

This action immediately drew the attention of others in the Adventurers Guild.

"Wow, a Red Wolf's head! This is a first-tier Blazing Sun Red Wolf!" Someone immediately recognized the wolf's origin.

"The others are also high-quality Dire Wolf heads. They should fetch quite a few silver coins."

"A Red Wolf's fur is even more valuable. Many nobles will buy it. I wonder where they put it; looks like they didn't bring it and hid it instead."

"They're veteran adventurers; they definitely wouldn't take it out easily."

"Who's the leader? He looks very robust, and the blood aura radiating from him is quite heavy."

"That's Jello. You don't even know him? He's a very famous adventurer in Cinderstone City. It's said that few people can beat him."

"Is he that strong? Then how does he compare to Lord Solang?"

"There's no comparison. Lord Solang is the captain of the Cinderstone City guard, knighted by Viscount Snow. His strength is already at the second tier of the 'Castle' essence." The person who answered shook his head.

"If he weren't knighted and Lord Solang's strength dropped to the first tier, Jello might have a slight chance of winning."

"The foundation of the nobility is not something ordinary people can contend with."

While these people were discussing, Jello's companions also smiled proudly, striking poses for some of the young girls in the hall.

"Hey, we're going to have some fun tonight." One of them hooked his arm around a companion's shoulder and spoke with a smile.

"Of course. We spent so much effort completing the bounty just for these few days of living it up, haha."

Ten minutes later, after the calculation and registration were completed, the front desk lady had someone bring out 64 silver coins and place them on the table.

"The bounty for the first-tier Red Wolf head is 50 silver. The other 31 Dire Wolf heads are worth 14 silver based on their condition. If you also obtained the Red Wolf's fur, the Guild will also buy it at a high price."

"How much is a high price?" Jello rubbed his chin.

"About 60 silver," the front desk lady answered after a moment's thought.

Blowing on his fingertips, Jello nodded slightly. "That's fairly reasonable, but you're asking too late. That fur has already been reserved, and the other party offered 80 silver."

"I won't say who it is specifically. I don't think you need to ask, right?"

"That's a pity. Please consider the Guild the next time you hunt a Red Wolf," the front desk lady replied politely, not pushing the matter.

To this, Jello only nodded with a playful smile, winking at the good-looking front desk lady. "How about we have a drink tonight?"

Facing such an invitation, the front desk lady, dressed in a brown and white uniform, waved her hand with a professional smile.

"Sorry, sorry. I don't go out casually at night."

"That's really boring then," the man said, mimicking the melancholy tone of a Bard.

Then, he picked up the money bag, turned around, and called out to his long-waiting companions, "Alright brothers, let's go to the Blood Pig Pub tonight. Drink heavily and make some noise, hahaha!"

"Oh!"

"Jello, you're truly the best captain I've ever seen!"

"Big Brother Jello!"

"I'll follow you from now on."

"Good brothers."

"Let's go, let's go, let's go!"

The group left the Adventurers Guild under the envious eyes of the people around them. At this time, many people crowded the front desk to carefully examine the wolf heads turned in as bounty.

"It's a Red Wolf. One eye was slashed out, and there's a wound on the lower jaw, but it doesn't seem fatal..."

The crowd slowly analyzed them, and the excitement in the Adventurers Guild lasted until very late.
