Chapter 141 - The Moment the Traveler Stood

Scene 141 — "The One Who Remained"

The wolf charged.

The earth broke beneath its first step.

The brother moved before anyone else could.

He threw himself between the creature and the Traveler.

"Run!"

The Traveler didn't.

The beast's center head descended.

The brother thrust his spear upward with everything he had.

The crystal tip struck beneath the creature's jaw.

For one brief moment—

the enormous wolf stopped.

The brother's eyes widened.

He had actually hurt it.

A thin line appeared beneath the beast's jaw.

Then all three heads turned toward him.

His confidence disappeared.

The left head moved first.

The brother raised his weapon.

Too slow.

The impact threw him across the road.

His body struck the ground.

The spear slipped from his hand.

The younger sister screamed.

"Brother!"

She ran toward him.

The elder sister caught her arm.

"Don't!"

The wolf turned.

The elder sister pushed her away.

Then charged.

Her blade struck the creature's foreleg.

Once.

Twice.

The wolf barely reacted.

One enormous paw swept across the ground.

She was thrown aside.

The younger sister rushed toward her.

The right head lunged.

She raised both arms instinctively.

The impact sent her tumbling through the flowers.

The elder sister struggled to stand.

Blood ran from her forehead.

"Stay down..."

The younger girl tried to move.

Her body refused.

The wolf turned toward them.

Then—

the Traveler stepped forward.

Only one step.

The beast noticed.

Its three heads shifted toward him.

The Traveler's hood remained low.

His expression was hidden.

The creature charged.

He barely had time to raise an arm.

The impact came.

His body left the ground.

He flew backward.

A blur of white hair and black cloth crossed the settlement.

Then—

CRACK.

His back struck a massive crystal tree.

The trunk fractured.

Fragments fell around him.

The Traveler dropped to the ground.

Silence.

The younger sister stared.

The elder sister struggled to lift herself.

The wolf stood between them.

The brother remained motionless several meters away.

The Traveler didn't move.

For several seconds—

nothing happened.

The wolf turned toward him.

It took a slow step.

Then another.

The siblings watched helplessly.

The younger sister tried to speak.

"...Please..."

Her voice broke.

The wolf continued.

The Traveler's fingers moved.

The creature stopped.

His palm pressed against the ground.

Slowly—

he pushed himself upright.

His breathing was heavier now.

A thin line of blood ran from the corner of his mouth.

He wiped it away with the back of his hand.

Then he stood.

The wolf stared.

The Traveler looked toward the fallen brother.

Then toward the injured sisters.

His eyes returned to the beast.

Something in his expression had changed.

The confusion was gone.

The hesitation was gone.

The uncertainty of the wandering stranger—

gone.

He tilted his head slightly.

Studying the creature.

As though seeing it for the first time.

The wolf growled.

Three throats.

One sound.

The Traveler remained still.

His fingers slowly curled.

The air around him became strangely quiet.

Even the crystal trees seemed to stop moving.

The younger sister stared at him.

She had expected the injured stranger to run.

Instead—

he took one step toward the monster.

The wolf lowered all three heads.

The Traveler's voice was barely audible.

"...You killed him."

The beast answered with a roar.

The Traveler did not flinch.

For the first time since entering this hidden world—

he stopped looking like a traveler.

He looked like something that had finally remembered how to stand.
