CHAPTER TWO(2)
The first rays of dawn crept over the town rooftops, painting the world in gold and shadow. Ethan sat on his bed, the jade-covered book and map spread out before him. Today was the day—the day he and Liam would leave behind the safety of home and step into the unknown.

Ethan finally grabbed the jeep keys and ran outside to join Liam. As he approached, he noticed a boy standing next to Liam, laughing and chatting as if they had known each other for years.
He got into the jeep and stopped by them. "Ooh! Liam, who's this?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"This is my cousin, Solomon," Liam said with a grin. "He's a master of cons and clever tricks—and he wanted to come with us."
Ethan studied Solomon for a moment. There was something in his sly smile and confident stance that made him think this adventure was about to get a lot more interesting… and maybe a little dangerous.
Ethan asked Liam, "Did you bring your tools?"
Liam looked astonished. "How do you regard me? I'm always ready—I was born ready! I even brought my AK-47."
Ethan raised an eyebrow, trying not to laugh. This is going to be an interesting adventure, he thought.
Just then, Solomon stepped forward, grinning slyly. "You didn't think I'd come empty-handed, did you?" He reached into his bag and pulled out a small, intricate lockpick set, a pouch of strange powders, and a shiny, folded gadget Ethan didn't recognize.
Liam whistled. "Whoa, that's some serious gear. You planning to steal the Jade Sword before we even find it?"
Solomon chuckled. "Maybe. Or maybe just make sure nothing stops us. You'll see."
Ethan shook his head, smiling despite the rising excitement and nervousness. "Alright, team, let's make sure we actually find the sword first—and survive the trip."
The three of them piled into the jeep. Ethan turned the key, and the engine roared to life. As they drove toward the edge of the forest, the early morning mist curled around the trees, and a chill ran down Ethan's spine. The adventure had officially begun—and somewhere beyond the mist, the Jade Sword waited.
The map unfolded before them, glowing faintly under the morning light. Ethan traced the route with his finger and read aloud:
"We'll pass through four mountains:
Shadowfang Mountains – dark, jagged, and crawling with mysterious creatures. Shadows move in ways that don't belong to the wind. Dragon's Tooth Mountains – sharp peaks resembling dragon fangs, with treacherous paths and sudden cliff drops. Legend says a dragon's roar still echoes there. Luminar Peaks – mountains that glow faintly at night, where magical glowstones illuminate the paths. Hidden caves here hold rare herbs and enchanted crystals. Emeraldspire Peaks – glowing green rocks and secret caves, where the Jade Sword awaits. It is said other legendary weapons and artifacts are hidden here too."
Ethan pointed to smaller symbols on the map. "There are forests, rivers, and ruins marked too. Look—the Whispering Woods before Shadowfang. They say the trees can talk and lead travelers astray if they're not careful."
"And after Dragon's Tooth," Liam added, squinting at the map, "there's the Crystal Falls. They say it's guarded by water spirits, and only the clever can cross without getting trapped in the mist."
Solomon smirked. "Don't forget the Stormveil Pass near Luminar Peaks. Thunderstorms appear out of nowhere. That's where a few magical relics might be found—but it's risky."
Ethan's eyes widened as he traced the route. "So… four mountains, mystical forests, crystal falls, stormy passes… and then Emeraldspire, where the sword and other weapons are hidden. We'll need every skill and tool we have."
Solomon winked. "Good thing I brought mine." He patted his bag filled with gadgets, powders, and cunning tricks.
Liam grinned. "And I brought mine. I was born ready."
Ethan shook his head, smiling nervously. This adventure is bigger than anything I imagined… and it's only just begun,
Liam carefully lifted the drones from his bag and set them into the air. With a soft whirr, the little machines hovered above the jeep, their blinking lights cutting through the morning mist.
"These guys will scout ahead," Liam said proudly. "Nothing will sneak up on us without me knowing."
Ethan watched as the drones zipped toward the Whispering Woods, hovering over winding paths and shadowy clearings. The trees seemed to shiver beneath their tiny lights, and every now and then, a strange shape darted through the undergrowth.
Solomon leaned back with a smirk. "I hope those drones can handle more than just ordinary shadows. Magic tends to… surprise travelers."
As they approached the edge of the forest, a gust of wind whipped through the trees, carrying an eerie whisper that made Ethan shiver. The drones buzzed closer to the trail, illuminating hidden roots, rocks, and signs of movement. Something—or someone—was watching them.
Ethan gripped the Jade Sword tighter. "Stay alert. This is only the beginning."
The jeep rolled into the misty path, the shadows of the Whispering Woods closing in around them. The glow from the drones revealed twisted trees, sparkling streams, and glimmers of strange creatures flitting between the trunks.
Somewhere deep in the forest, the adventure of a lifetime was waiting—and the first test of courage, skill, and friendship had already begun.
