Chapter 13 - Trazyn

| Uncharted Sector |

Deep within an uncharted sector of the galaxy lay the world, Solemnace. This world was a Necron Tomb World, these were worlds that the Necrons, approximately 60 million years ago, constructed vast catacombs deep underground to go into hibernation.

Their hibernation, known as "The Great Sleep," was due to them being weakened from their costly victory during the War in Heaven and shattering their former masters, the C'tan, which left them weakened, unable to face the relentless pursuit of the Eldar Empire head on.

The Necron Empire simply couldn't withstand another war of such scale, especially against this powerful race created by the Old Ones. So, the Silent King ordered The Great Sleep, he ordered the necrons to create tomb worlds, hidden within planets with stasis crypts to keep necrons immobile.

His plan was that the necrons will hibernate for 60 million years, he believed that within this span of time. The Eldar Empire would become significantly weaker, the galaxy would recover from the War in Heaven, and when they awakened, the galaxy would be theirs to claim.

However, this plan went horribly wrong in many ways, during their slumber. A disease that they knew of, but not the full dire effects of, began to drive some necrons towards madness. This affliction was caused by the death of the C'tan Llandu'gor, the flayer.

In his death, Llandu'gor cursed the necrons to experience his fathomless hunger for blood and flesh. This curse, known as The Flayer's Disease, caused necrons to develop an insatiable desire for meat, leading them to adorn themselves in the skin and blood of their victims.

Another failure in the plan, was that some necron tomb worlds suffered environmental damage, energy failures, or incursions over the millions of years.

These issues led to failure of the stasis technology and damage to the resurrection protocols, which caused many necron tomb worlds to awake prematurely.

Many necrons were awakened with corrupted data, their memories fragmented or entirely absent.

However, some necrons who awakened early, such as Trazyn the Infinite, an Necron Overlord of the Nihilakh Dynasty, whose role was the Chief Archivist and a keeper of history.

Trazyn, who woke up prematurely slightly before the Birth of Slaanesh, decided that as a keeper of history. It was his duty to preserve everything that occurs in the galaxy.

With this self-imposed mission he set for himself, he began "collecting" all that caught his eye.

This happened all up until he discovered that a race he once deemed fallen from grace. Seemed to have revived and he was intrigued by the anomalous figure who led them and the soldiers he led.

So, Trazyn decided to go collect and see for himself who this anomalous figure was.

On terra, Trazyn observed an event occur, one of many events that would be instrumental for allowing the four to corrupt and turn half of the Emperor's sons against him.

This event was the Battle of Mount Ararat. In Imperial records, it was known as the final engagement of the Unification Wars. The place where the Thunder Warriors, the predecessors of the Astartes, all died heroically to secure the Emperor's rule over Terra.

But, what really happened here was a deliberate culling of the Thunder Warriors, who were systematically slaughtered by the Astartes of the 1st Legion and the Custodes by the order of the Emperor.

Trazyn found the current state of humanity disappointing and was honestly bored. Nevertheless, he still decided to collect from this species and record their slow downfall.

After observing and recording for a time, Trazyn summoned a tesseract labyrinth—a small cube shaped device that can lock things in stasis—and tossed it at a remote corner of the battle.

In this remote area, 13 Thunder Warriors were fighting desperately against a platoon of 1st Legion Astartes, while a squad of 5 Custodians observed from a short distance behind.

The tossed tesseract labyrinth instantly enveloped the entire space, including everyone present in a stasis field. They were locked away into the tesseract labyrinth and then he recalled it back into his hand.

With what he collected just now, his Unification Wars Exhibit in his Solemance Galleries could finally be completed.

He continued to observe the culling while musing, 'Humanity will never become what it once was if it remains under the control of that tyrant. Yet, I cannot help but feel a slight anticipation for what it will become under his influence. Perhaps in the future, there will be many crude things to collect made by him, just like these Thunder Warriors.'

As the culling neared its conclusion, Trazyn noticed a Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior—the title given to captains of a legion of Thunder Warrior legion.

This Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior actually managed to kill the Custodian pursuing him, a remarkably impressive feat.

Trazyn immediately captured both the Thunder Warrior and dead Custodian with another tesseract labyrinth. He planned on making the scene of this Primarch ranked Thunder Warrior slaying the custodian as the centerpiece for his now completed Unification Wars exhibit.

A few moments later, the culling concluded and Trazyn phased to his personal ship, the Lord of Antiquity, a Necron Shroud-class Light Cruiser.

Upon entering the ship, he set the coordinates for his tomb world, Solemnace and engaged the inertialess drive.

A few days later, he arrived at Solemnace and phased straight towards his Unification Wars exhibit. He released the Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior and the dead Custodian, but kept them locked in a stasis field.

Trazyn then motioned his hand forward and a Mindshackle Scarab was summoned. These were tiny scarabs that burrow into the victim's mind, bypassing cerebral functions and turning the victim into little more than a puppet under the control of the scarab's master.

Once the mindshackle scarab entered the mind of the Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior and took control, Trazyn ordered him to replicate the exact position he held when he slew the Custodian.

The Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior then carried the custodian on top of the pedestal and started to maneuver himself and the dead Custodian.

Eventually, the exact position was recreated, both figures laid on their backs on the ground, displayed in a scene that depicted an intense struggle for survival.

The Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior holding the Custodian in a figure four mandible strangle. His right leg was wrapped around the custodian's waist, while his left leg was coiled around the Custodian's left leg, limiting its movement.

A knife was held in the Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior's mouth, stabbed halfway through the skull of the Custodian.

Meanwhile, the Custodian's right leg was stretched out, as if he was desperately trying to shift himself for an advantage. His arms were aimed up towards the head of the Primarch-ranked thunder warrior who held him captive.

The Custodian's left hand gripped the top of the primarch ranked thunder warrior in a vice-like grip, his thumb buried deep within the warrior's left eye.

His right hand held the Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior's right jawline and cheek in a similarly vice-like grip, his thumb positioned firmly under the chin.

Anyone who gazed upon this scene of violent struggle would only wonder if the outcome might have been different if the Custodian was given 1 more second.

Perhaps he would have been able to complete his intended action, to rip off the head of the Primarch-ranked Thunder Warrior pinning him. However, the only one who would see this scene was Trazyn, who was currently nodding his head in satisfaction at seeing this perfectly replicated scene.

Trazyn then took out the other tesseract labyrinth and began to manipulate it into an endless stasis loop. This loop would forever repeat the scene of the thunder warriors being culled by the 1st Legion and the Custodes.

This was possible because tesseract labyrinths are, in essence, pocket dimensions where time can be manipulated, allowing Trazyn to replay events— such as invasions or battles—indefinitely.

Necron technology was akin to magic, enabling Necrons to imprison C'tan shards, destroy stars, revive through reanimation protocol, and even manipulate aspects of reality. Such as time, which Trazyn was currently in the process of.

After some time, the 13 Thunder Warriors, the platoon of 1st Legion Astartes, and the squad of 5 Custodians were all trapped in a perfect loop. Within this loop, they keep their consciousness, continuing to make decisions, fight for survival, or execute the Emperor's command.

They would remain perpetually unaware that they are in a loop, unless Trazyn decides to enter the tesseract labyrinth and tell them. But, even if they knew, they would be powerless, as the loop would eventually reset, completely erasing their memories of events up to a certain point.

This was the fate of any being who is collected by Trazyn, either they are displayed as priceless collectibles or trapped in a never ending loop.

While they go through what can be considered an unspeakable torture or a twisted form of salvation, Trazyn moves on to what he wants to collect next. Which is why he soon returns to Terra, after learning that there was a huge spike in warp activity.

___

Trazyn, was currently disguised as a Custodian within the Imperial Palace, because he wanted to understand the reason for the immense warp fluctuations that were detected by the Canoptek Scarabs he left scattered around Terra.

These small automatons served as his sensory extensions, used to scan, gather data, and infiltrate specific locations.

According to his Canoptek Scarabs, the warp fluctuations originated from a laboratory deep beneath the Imperial Palace. His brief reconnaissance upon arrival confirmed this.

Security was extremely heavy and the human tyrant was present down there, making it impossible for Trazyn to approach with detection.

However, the Canoptek Scarabs also informed him that researchers were being held in the Dark Cells who might possess knowledge of these events.

So, Trazyn made his way down to the Dark Cells, expertly slipping past security using multiple disguises until he finally reached the Dark Cells.

Once there, he assumed the guise of a Shadowkeeper, the Custodians who guard the Dark Cells and finally located the scientists. To avoid detection, he dragged the scientists and himself into a tesseract labyrinth. Once inside, he controlled the scientists to learn what he could from them.

Initially, they remained silent, then Trazyn realized that all the scientists had been mind wiped.

But, this wasn't a problem for him because inside of the tesseract labyrinth. He possessed absolute control, so he temporarily undid the mind wipe and glimpsed at the Primarch Project.

In that glimpse, he witnessed twenty infant humans, no… They didn't seem to actually be humans, his sensors told him that they seemed to be special warp essences being genetically crafted into human form, which greatly shocked him.

Trazyn attempted to probe further, but was forced to stop instantly upon noticing abnormalities appearing on the scientists. It seems that the human tyrant imbued something into these scientists to serve both as a method of observation and a failsafe.

Although he could force it, he didn't want to risk any further exposure, so he stopped probing the minds of the scientists.

From all of this, Trazyn began to formulate theories about what had transpired, thinking to himself.

'No one can acquire warp essences of that magnitude without attracting those parasites in the warp. He must have made some kind of deal with them. No… From what I've observed of him, I'd bet Orikan's eye that he robbed them, much like he did the techno-barbarians during his Unification Wars. That would explain the immense warp activity, he has undoubtedly angered those parasites. He is more than just a tyrant, he is an extremely powerful thuggish mystic whose hubris is likely unparalleled. I will need to be far more cautious when infiltrating the Imperial Palace.'

Having formulated what may have happened, Trazyn exited the tesseract labyrinth and restored the scientists to their original states. He then immediately made his way out the Dark Cells, assuming multiple disguises to navigate around the Imperial Palace.

Trazyn decided he will stay in the Imperial Palace and learn whatever else he can to confirm his suspicions.

This continued for 3 years until one day, something occurred that greatly shocked him—a priceless scene that greatly amused but also annoyed him.

It was a scene he would eventually show to Orikan to brag about how other people desperately wished to emulate him.

This same scene was later shown to every discovered Primarch, a ruthless attempt by Trazyn to absolutely shatter the "perfect" image each Primarch held of their father.

'I have seen everything that has ever happened… Ever could happen… And yet, what the hell is this?' Trazyn thought to himself due to his current predicament.

Just moments ago, he was disguised as a Custodian patrolling a hallway when, suddenly, he watched himself appear.

Yes, "Trazyn" himself materialized right before his very own eyes and trapped him in a stasis field. This "Trazyn" before him was circling him, laughing and then disappeared.

All Trazyn could do was stand there, trapped in stasis, until finally it was released.

Trazyn could not fathom that he, of all beings, had been trapped in a stasis field and it was done by himself, "Trazyn."

He was the one who does the collecting around here, not this imposter "Trazyn." Just who would dare to copy his image, methods, and use it against him?

This matter greatly infuriated, but also humored him. He could barely remember the last time he had experienced such a perplexing moment in his life, leaving him utterly helpless and speechless.

In that very moment, Trazyn vowed, 'I will find this imposter and add this being to my most prized collection.'

For over half a year, Trazyn monitored and tracked this imposter of his, desperately trying to apprehend this elusive figure.

But, he simply couldn't catch this elusive figure until he decided to change his strategy. From his observations so far, this imposter seems to greatly enjoy posing as a pillar.

Trazyn then calculated the probability of this imposter appearing as a pillar on each floor of the Imperial Palace. After completing his calculations, he disguised himself as a pillar on the 22nd floor and waited there for half a year, until finally he caught a glimpse of his imposter.

Directly across from him, another pillar was slowly moving by millimeters. Trazyn was about to throw his tesseract labyrinth at it when suddenly it dropped its disguise.

Trazyn's mind went blank as he realized that his imposter was the same thuggish mystic who dared to interact with those parasites in the warp.

He then pondered, 'How could a being like this, resort to such acts? Then again if he dared to rob those parasites, he'd probably dare to do anything.'

Before Trazyn could question reality—or this "cosplayer," as ancient humans might say—

The thuggish mystic teleported away, Trazyn immediately snapped his head towards the direction where his sensors indicated where the Thuggish Mystic disappeared to.

He listened in and overheard this cosplaying mystic thug say something that infuriated him once again.

"This is a test for the custodes, a preparation for the day a foul xenos named Trazyn breaks into the imperial palace."

Trazyn thought in rage, 'So, he knew this entire time that I was here and decided to toy with me.'

In the next moment, Trazyn shifted his focus to the sounds of footsteps and a staff moving through the hallway.

He then heard, "Reveal yourself, intruder."

Trazyn recognized this person as Malcador, what ancient humans would call a shrewd shyster.

Trazyn replied in a modest tone, "Greetings Malcador, I am merely an archivist, so there is no need to aim that at me. I meant no harm to you nor that cosplaying thuggish mystic. I only came here to record some history about you humans."

As Trazyn suspected, Malcador, with his sharp senses knew exactly who he was and what he had done a moment ago.

"If you mean no harm, then explain why I just sensed a cube construct of yours capture a custodian 43 stories below," Malcador said in a dry tone.

All Trazyn could do was let out a sly smile and reply shamelessly, "That is a misunderstanding, I was merely aiding the cosplaying thuggish mystic in his so called 'training' for the custodes."

Malcador after sensing that Trazyn released the custodian then continued, "Seeing that you claim to be an archivist. Let's talk about human history and necron history. Perhaps we may even be able to agree on some things."

Malcador beckoned Trazyn to follow him and Trazyn walked to his side and said "It would be my pleasure… And perhaps we can also talk about that staff of yours, it's quite a desirable antique."

Hearing this, Malcador scoffed in mild amusement.

After walking for some time, they reached Malcador's tower where they both sat down and had a discussion about history.

During their discussion, Malcador granted Trazyn a temporary position as a Remembrancer and provided him with lodgings within the Imperial Palace. This was a strategic move, allowing Malcador to keep a close watch on Trazyn and facilitating a future discussion between the Emperor and Trazyn regarding a proper alliance.

Trazyn was marveling at an ancient necrontyr artifact that he got from a trade with Malcador. This artifact was a broken pot depicting the day when the biotransference happened.

It depicted the Necrontyr race, an extinct, short-lived, and violent species that suffered from various incurable forms of radiation sickness due to their planet's radioactive environment.

This species once sought the Old Ones for their technology to make them immortal and when they were refused, waged war and lost. This led to the necrontyr's crafting bodies made of necrodermis for the C'tan—beings who used to be formless energy whom they accepted as their gods.

Later, the necrontyr chose to undergo the biotransference their gods commanded, in order to gain immortal bodies. But, this was a great deception by the C'tan.

The necrontyr indeed did gain immortal bodies made of necrodermis, but in the process the C'tan devoured their souls, transforming them into living metal with consciousness, yet unable to feel sensations like they once had.

That was when the Necrontyr ceased to exist, and the Necrons were born.

Just as Trazyn was about to continue examining the broken pot's depiction of this species' past.

He was alerted by the sudden warp fluctuations happening within the Imperial Palace. He immediately changed his appearance and phased to a location near the disturbance and saw the thuggish mystic who was heavily wounded, standing before a Custodian.

Next, Trazyn then took out his recording orb, sensing he came across something worth documenting. And he was right as in the next moment, that Custodian turned into one of those human-shaped warp creations the thug had christened his son.

Trazyn watched with interest as this thug actually said some surprisingly kind words to his son and mused, 'Who would have thought this thug could actually act as a father. Wait, yes… Of course it is an act, there's no way this thug would actually be a good father.'

Trazyn smiled smugly, having once again deduced the most likely scenario. A short while later, he sensed the thug's son, now named Alpharius, staring at him. Trazyn waved and phased directly to Malcador's tower to await their arrival.

Once Alpharius and Malcador arrived, Malcador introduced Trazyn to Alpharius and informed him of everything he knew about Trazyn and the necron race.

Alpharius even attempted to bargain with Trazyn for his appearance-altering technology and some of his tesseract labyrinths. Of course, Trazyn refused all attempts to trade because he couldn't just hand some human-shaped warp entity with unclear intentions his technology, nor did he wish to ascertain those intentions

After some further bantering, everyone went their separate ways to await the Emperor's awakening from his rest. At least everyone did, except Trazyn, who decided during this rare moment of that thug being outcold.

He should seize the opportunity to collect a couple of items that had piqued his interest. However, each attempt was thwarted by Malcador's intervention.

Eventually, Trazyn decided he should get back at that thug for trapping him in a stasis field. Trazyn snuck into the inner gardens, but just as he took out his orb to record.

The thug woke up, destroyed his orb and directly teleported him to Malcador's tower.

Trazyn could only wait there for the thug's arrival to convene the meeting.

When the thug arrived and convened the meeting, Trazyn listened to the proceedings with genuine surprise, wondering…

'This thug truly cares for humanity huh… He knew everything about my ventures into the Dark Cells and was willing to offer items to sway me into an alliance. His confidence about the Silent King taking his side is truly astonishing.'

Trazyn continued listening and responding when the thug posed questions.

Then the meeting took a turn that disappointed Trazyn. The thug mentioned his desire to utilize the Webway and expand it as a means to separate humanity from the warp.

Trazyn couldn't help but ask, "They would never let your plan work and do you properly understand the cost of creating another webway?"

The thug replied, "I do and going forward. Those plans will no longer be our priorities."

This response truly intrigued Trazyn. The thug's subsequent mention of a vision—his sons betraying him—sparked genuine interest in the priceless moments and individuals Trazyn could add to his collection should such a rebellion occur. However, he remembered he had to cooperate with the thug for now.

So, Trazyn asked him a question that led to a short speech that completely changed his view of this thug. This guy wasn't way more than just a thug, he was an insane being whose mind defied comprehension.

Trazyn dismissed everything else the insane man uttered, viewing him as a dead man. This perspective shifted when the insane man became even more unhinged, declaring he would wield faith.

Trazyn screamed internally, 'Does he not comprehend the power of faith and its potential consequences for him?! From my calculations and understanding, he may well become a being akin to those parasites in the warp! I may have to request a council meeting for the Necrons to halt his descent into madness!'

Before Trazyn could process further, the insane man entered his "The One" form. All of Trazyn's prior thoughts vanished as he beheld this sight.

He was witnessing a true anomaly and couldn't help but exclaim outloud, "Truly intriguing."

Once again Trazyn took out his orb, but of course the insane vandal promptly destroyed it.

Trazyn resumed listening, recognizing that this insane man possessed the power to manifest his intentions.

Over time, hearing how this insane man chose to forgive the one who had ruined his Primarch Project, Trazyn remained undecided about him. He was truly insane, a thug, cosplayer, and perhaps now, a fool.

However, upon hearing his reasoning, Trazyn remarked to him.

"I guess you're not as much of a thug as I thought you were."

After all, to forgive such a transgression for the sake of forging a complete family and keeping such a powerful individual close was a rare form of care and understanding, vital for someone in his position.

A few seconds later, Trazyn was once again rendered speechless.

This man was, in fact, an altruist who did not prioritize his own well-being—this was the conclusion Trazyn reached.

Any sane individual would eliminate someone who betrayed them, but this man chose forgiveness. Trazyn sighed internally and continued to listen until the altruist began speaking of his desire to create warp rifts.

At this point, Trazyn was numb to the nonsense of this altruist. Then a moment later, the altruist addressed Trazyn.

"This is where I will require your help in facing off against the four. Particularly if you possess a Blackstone Pylon, I'd like to borrow it to aid in closing the warp rifts. State what you want in return for your aid."

Trazyn was curious about what this altruist was planning now and replied, "I indeed possess Blackstone Pylons. But it really won't help you in repelling the warp after retrieving your spawns. Four warp rifts are beyond what my Blackstone Pylons can handle."

The altruist replied, "I do not intend on using it to repel the warp, instead… I want the warp to be amplified. I will give them a greeting that they will never forget."

Finally, Trazyn broke. He accepted that this altruist's actions could never be calculated nor properly understood.

Instead, Trazyn decided he'll just follow this altruist and record his deeds, this man will either be a great hero or become a cautionary tale.

Trazyn let out a laugh and replied, "Ha HA HAA… Your hubris is truly the greatest I've ever witnessed. But, I am truly intrigued to see how you repel those parasitic warp contagions. Being able to witness your success or failure will be considered what I take in return for aiding you."

Some more time passed and the meeting came to a close. However, the mad altruist asked Trazyn to stay for a moment.

What transpired next was a series of events that made Trazyn feel blinding rage.

First, this insane Altruist stated, "I know of your fondness for "collecting" whatever interests you and due to our current alliance. It wouldn't be appropriate if you continued to try and collect everything from my species that interests you. But, I know that regardless you will still do so the moment I look away. So, I wish to propose a game between us, are you interested?"

He then dared to smile and added, "If I wished it so, I can collect your most precious collections."

And worse still, he uttered, "SOT 3827-XRS-🝯🝬🝘🝠🝖🝏🝞🝃🜶"

Trazyn screamed internally, 'How does he know about the location of my secret vault???!!'

Taking a moment to calm himself, Trazyn replied, "Fine, let me hear the terms of this game of yours."

For hours, this unfathomable, insane being argued with him, insisting that they play an ancient terran game called, "Cops and Robber."

Trazyn repeatedly countered, "That is preposterous, choose something else."

Eventually, Trazyn could bear it no longer and asked the insane man in utter irritation, "Is this childish game truly important to you?"

Of course, he replied, "Indeed, it is. How about this? I will drop this matter if you consent to me performing an example of this game as the robber and you as the cop. I promise it will be worth your time."

Trazyn, who simply wanted to conclude this matter, caved in and replied in exasperation, "Fine, I give my consent, go ahead and play this utterly ridiculous game of yours. Afterwards, we will move on to the real negotiation on this topic."

In his exasperation, Trazyn completely missed the hinted underlying meaning in the insane man's words. Then, Trazyn looked on in astonishment as the insane man swiftly departed the room and reached his Solemnace Galleries.

Trazyn instantly transferred his consciousness to one of his bodies present in the Solemnace Galleries and confronted the insane man.

The man said to him, "As I previously said, the robber has to take an item without the other catching them. This means the cop has to witness the robber with their own eyes steal the item or even items."

He then pointed to a Tyranid locked in stasis behind Trazyn and added, "It moved again."

Trazyn turned around in alarm, suspecting that Orikan was attempting to retaliate for Trazyn's collection of his chair just as he was about to sit.

But as Trazyn turned, he realized he had been deceived. The insane thief had actually stolen his priceless collections while he was distracted and then teleported away.

Both Trazyns—the one in the Solemnace Galleries and the one in Malcador's Tower—could not help but curse aloud, "🝗🝁🜹🝌🜰🜰," and think to themselves.

'I can't believe I fell for that insane 🝯🝢🝍🝅🜰 (ancient Necrontyr curse) trick and allowed him to rob me. He even took one of my favorite ships and some necron technology including a tesseract labyrinth.'

Trazyn's body trembled with anger. Back at Malcador's tower, he pointed at the insane thief and yelled, "You said it was an example and plus I was there to witness it. Return what you have taken, do you even know how long it took me to collect those particular items?! Moreover I can't allow you to gain access to necron technology just like that."

The insane thief scoffed at Trazyn and used his own words against him. Hearing this, Trazyn forced himself to calm down and said, "Using the pretext of a game, wearing down my patience, tricking me with an old trick. All to get what you wanted from my museum, are you truly a human and not secretly a shard of the Great Deceiver?"

Then shortly later, the true negotiations began. They reached a compromise, agreeing to tolerate each other's collecting endeavors, with certain individuals and items declared off-limits. This was acceptable to Trazyn, and he agreed.

Afterwards, they exchanged pleasantries about their respective collecting feats. Trazyn could not help but feel that this insane man was truly a kindred spirit.

He would learn to be as shameless as this man and perhaps one day rob him in turn. Trazyn decided it was well worth becoming allies with him, and given their shared interest in collecting, they might even become friends.

So, Trazyn left the room with the parting words, "You better always keep an eye open then, my friend. There will come a day when you don't realize what I may have "collected" from humanity."

He then made his way out, but immediately transferred his consciousness to the body he kept at his secret vault, to commence its relocation.

He could not maintain a peaceful state of mind knowing that his shameless, thieving, altruistic friend knew its location and could teleport there at will.
