Chapter 54 - Author's Note: End of Act 1

I'm not the best with these little intermissions, lmao. I either talk too much or too little, and never in between.

Anyway! If you've reached this point, thank you. I can't begin to express my gratitude enough!

Though I can't say this isn't the story I've been heavily working on for half a year, I've grown rather fond of the characters, especially Tao Hua. In hindsight, I'm actually glad it was my first attempt at serializing, and it only makes me more excited to write my main novel.

I've learnt a lot, and made a lot of changes and revisions. The theme and pacing is unconventional, but I personally don't have an issue with that. I guess I've never really been a conventional person, and I don't think I really care to be one, either.

My goal with this novel, the main novel, and all the other ones I have planned is to write something memorable. A world where the characters, themes, and words make the reader feel something personal aspire to write something I know many will say focus on trends and tropes, but I just can't find the enjoyment in that.

There are authors that carried me through of some of the hardest points of my life, so when I write stories, I aspire to create something similar and endearing. And also as a distraction, LOL! Bittersweet, really.

I've been writing since 2010, maybe even before that, but took a break for five years since the pandemic. My skills are rusty and there's still a lot left to learn, but that's the fun of it! Even if I'm slightly exhausted, LOL. Good exhaustion, however. Think of it like the rush you get after a hard workout.

What really inspired me to pick up writing again was a few things in life, but the greatest contender was that everything I watched, read, played ended. I hated that everything always came to an end. So, I decided why not pick up the pen and create worlds that can't end. Purely self-satisfaction.

But I should correct that and say , all things do end, and my stories certainly will! I won't drag them on for the sake of dragging them on. But even after the fact, I can keep them alive in my mind even after the final act ends as everything I think of is canon! Yippy!

Anyway! Choosing cultivation as the setting is just something I've wholeheartedly loved since 2011. Cultivation, Ancient China, etc...what a setting to explore! Same can be said for Heian Japan, Ancient Egypt, etc. All which I involve in my other main novel I'm outlining. It'll be a world entirely created of my own accord, giving me the freedom I seek when writing.

I just love fantasy in general, especially fantasy that wanders off the path of what we know. Creating worlds in my mind and making them come to life on paper has always been something I've loved since a child.

But yes! Thank you so much! I don't have a ton of readers but those who do read it really motivate me to continue. I know its a slow plot, but I focus more on characters in hopes to find other likeminded readers! I really appreciate all the support nonetheless.

I deal with many low days and heavy brain fog due to medication, so even knowing people come this far dealing with the low days and subpar writing warms me. Thank you.

Okay ramble over! Act two is all planned out and I already have so many chapters written.

Oh, and jsut know that if you've come this far and genuinely do love the characters. I don't mind comments with requests to draw whatever! Granted it's within my ability.
