Chapter 1 - Reliving it again

[Woah, my head is spinning. It's like I'm falling from the sky but can't seem to touch the ground anytime soon. My heart is beating fast..... I'm scared..... I'm really scared... I'm really scared.....]

Serah: Jared?.....Jared?

[Wait....that voice sounds familiar.....but why is it....]

Serah: Jared?

[And in an instant, I jolted from my pillow with a deep inhale, then start breathing like crazy. I touched myself to make sure I was actually still alive or I was actually dead. But, miraculously, I was still alive. Looking back up, the room was still intact....still our old crib as before. And most importantly....]

Sarah: (concerned) Jared? Are you alright?

[She stared at me with her innocent emerald green eyes, filled with so much concern and deep worry. Most importantly.....she was still alive. ]

Sarah:(confused) Huh? Why are you crying? Did you get hurt in your sleep?

[I couldn't even bring myself to respond. I was too overwhelmed by my tears that the words stuck in my throat. Why were words even important right now? She is still standing right before me, so that should be enough. She reached out and cupped my face in her palms as she tried her best to wipe the tears that fell down my face like fountains.]

Sarah:Oh, dear. From talking in your sleep now, to crying. You're really confusing me today. What is happening with you?

Jared: I'm..... I'm okay. I'm fine....

Serah: Are you sure? You slept so much and had me really worried. I'm not letting you go work for that old man again.

[I could hear the anger and determination in her eyes, almost like she could just kill the boss if he actually stood here right now.]

Jared: Serah, it's alright. I'm totally fine.

Serah: But you've been really stressed out lately. You come back home really exhausted and barely even able to stand up anymore. Like, I know things are hard right now, but you don't really have to work yourself to your death. And especially not now that your eye is still in repair.

[My breath hitched. All the air suddenly got stuffed in my lungs at the last phrase. Wait....no. Then it hit me. It had already happened. It has all already happened. I'm just..... reliving it again.....]

[It almost felt like years had already gone by, with me just sitted on my old and worn out bunk bed, looking at myself time and again trying to recuperate my thoughts. I could not just get things together. I slowly and carefully raised my hand to my face, trembling as if I wasn't expecting the reality as it truly was....it truly couldn't have happened, right? But to my own greatest shock.....it was there. The mark to show everything that happened....My left eye was gone. It was truly gone. I start breathing fast, my head reeling. Just what is going on? What really is going on? Can someone tell me? I'm losing my mind! ]

Simon : Jared!

[A familiar voice echoed in my ears in the midst of my daze, and I was awoken by it. I jolted from my daydream again, and looked up. A young blonde boy of around 17, walked up to me and held me on my shoulder, my eyes never leaving him. Wait.....]

Simon : Yo...Jared? Are you alright? I met your sister on the way, and she said you were under the weather today. I got concerned, so I brought the whole gang to come meet you.

[He paused the moment he saw that look on my face. He slowly withdrew, confused with a raised eyebrow. He holds his waist and stands a few steps back as if observing me keenly. ]

Simon : Uh....Jared? Is there something wrong?

Hosiah: What's going on in there?

[Another voice was heard from outside, a teenage one that seemed deeper than any of us' here. But, I on the other hand....what was wrong with me? I was shaking and trembling in my boots as I stared at the boy who casually stood before me. This was no mare coincidence, right? I'm actually standing right in front of...]

Simon : Yo, Messiah?

Hosiah: [Annoyed] It's Hosiah.

Simon : Blame it to your parents for giving you a lame name. Come see something.

Hosiah: (rolls his eyes while walking into the house) What is it?

[The young man stood at Simon's side, and they both stare at me with questionable looks in their eyes. ]

Hosiah:What? It's just Jared.

Simon : You think? He looks....

******

Next few minutes after that, my eye opened again, but I could feel a sting of pain on one side. I immediately shot it close again unable to bear the pain. I covered it with one hand, then made effort to open the other one. My view was a bit blurry at first, but slowly, it cleared off.

When my eye fully opened, I was met with an old worn out ply wood ceiling, painted light blue, with claw marks on them like the room had tamed an animal.

I look to my left, and I could see a wall clouded by the giant brown wood bookshelf, loaded with tons of books of different colours and sizes, all arranged in an array pattern of order. Then about a centimeter away was a wooden frame window, where I could clearly see the blue sky through it.

Then on the other side was a cylinder bottle with a steel boiling pot on it. I didn't know what was in the pot, but it did fill the room with a strange but attractive aroma that filled my senses. And as if I knew, my stomach growled. Just for how long have I been knocked out and for what? I don't even recognize this place, and it didn't look like anywhere Serah would take me to...]

Jared: (gasp) Serah...

[I panicked. I've been out for God knows how long, and I don't even know where she is! What if she's in danger? But before I could move a muscle, I was slammed back to the mattress by a throbbing in my head.

Dammit! Why does it hurt so bad...?

....*Help us....help me.....Help....me*

And it the shot of one hand, I found myself grasping the air with my frail and malnourished hands, almost like a caress- I was so powerless....just like then....
