Chapter 1 - Rebirth: A Shinobi’s Beginning

Ratatatatata!!!!! Bullets kept firing on both sides as a soldier shouted "retreat," and others followed, but the soldier who gave the command didn't retreat and kept cover-firing for his comrades. Seeing this, his enemies from the other sides started to push aggressively, leaving him no choice but to leave his own safety and save his comrades. He killed 3 members before dying with a body riddled with bullet holes; even before his last breath, he never yielded nor cowered, showing unyielding will, but in the next second, GASP!!! A boy who was looking like a child of age 2 woke up sweating profusely with labored breaths; he knew it wasn't a nightmare, but his last moment in his last life when he died as a soldier protecting his country. Then he calmed down and started washing his face and looked outside the window; it was still dark, with winds rustling.

He decided to start studying a book that is as thick as a piece of log, which would have been either comical or unbelievable on Earth, but as you might have guessed, this is not Earth but the world of Naruto, and the child mentioned is me, Kurose Ren, and you might think, How do I know this is the world of Naruto? It's because my hobby is watching anime. I was born in Konoha Hospital to civilian parents, Hanami and Kanata. My mother gave me this name before she died giving birth to me. I always thought, How is it that in the world of Naruto they are allowing children to fight each other? Then came to understanding after 2 years that we should not judge this world with Earth's common sense. Here normal children at the age of 6-7 without any kind of training can run as long as an adult could on Earth, while geniuses start training in their clans at the age of 4-5 before the academy starts, which happens at the age of 5.

Then I started gathering even more information, like which year I was born, and got the answer, which is between the Second and the Third GNW*. Which means I could possibly become a classmate of Kakashi, which I am guessing would be true since being reborn where I won't converse with any main character is something idiotic and would make my life here very hard, since from the Naruto world we can infer that Danzo is using the Konoha orphanage as his recruitment area where he would recruit orphans to replenish his ROOT ninjas. So my first task is to escape Danzo's clutches and enroll in the academy and graduate early since the world is going to enter the Next GNW*, so they will push me to graduate early, so I need to prepare well so that I won't die as cannon fodder and live through it. For that to happen, I need to show my extraordinary mental capabilities in the orphanage and impress Yakushi Nono but also ensure that I'm not being drafted to ROOT due to showing more intelligence, but for all this to happen, I need to first know the language spoken here.

Fortunately, the orphanage teaches general knowledge to children they think are mature enough to understand and don't misunderstand it. Everyone here will learn it at the earliest in 2 years and as late as 4 years, so it's still much faster than Earth, so I decided to learn it at 2, showing very good maturity. They first taught us how to read and write and left us on our own, saying if somebody wanted to, they could study at the orphanage library (which was very small) and have 10 copies of geography (which was surprisingly geopolitics) and history of Konoha and basics of ninja, which were weapons, ranks, shinobi code, etc.

I wanted to show that I'm not an old man pretending to be a kid and wanted not to waste time but also to play with other orphans as well so that I'm not suspicious since I had unknowingly done a suspicious thing as soon as I was born, which was not crying and looking with curiosity, which led to constant checkups for 1 month and a declaration as very healthy compared to other children. So I proposed playing physically intensive games like running races, the game of tag, etc. Then when other kids would be hungry and would want to sleep or play something indoors, I would read the books mentioned above. This was my schedule for a whole year. We also started doing marathons where I would provoke them in the name of challenge so that I could train physically without suspicion.

1 year went by, and now I've finished reading the 3 books that were present in the orphanage and got some basic information, like which nations are bordering the Fire Nation, and found that we are sharing borders with the Lands of Hot Springs, Iron, and Rice to the north; the Land of Noodles to the east; the Land of Tea to the south; and the Lands of Rain, Grass, and Rivers in the west and southwest regions. Also, while connected to Wind Country using Hanguri Gulf and connected to Water Country by the Kanashi Sea. After this I understood why even though Leaf Village produces many top-class fighters, they are at a disadvantage since they are totally surrounded by 4 Great Ninja Villages and mostly have to fight by allying with any one of them.

After this I studied about the history of Konoha and learned about some figures that were not spoken of very much in anime, like Senju Butsuma, who was the leader of the Senju clan during Hashirama's childhood; Tajima Uchiha, who was the leader of the Uchiha clan during Madara's childhood; While the Uchiha and Senju clans started Konoha, they alone were not its populace because shortly after that, the clans of Sarutobi, Shimura, Nara, Akimichi, and Yamanaka joined not too much later, while the Inuzuka, Hyuga, and Aburame clans joined after the First GNW and before the Second GNW, which baffled me because I thought every clan joined either with the founders or not too late, but learning that some joined even after the First GNW was shocking, at least to me. So now I was waiting for ROOT to come since I don't know what kind of test Danzo keeps for him to deem someone suitable for joining ROOT. I have done everything possible in my power to increase my strength, so I hope that I will escape from the clutches of ROOT.

GNW* → Great Ninja War
