Chapter 28 - First day

Morning came quickly.

One moment I was lying in bed thinking about going to bed earlier, and the next my alarm clock was telling me it was the first day of school.

"I hate time."

"Time is just a concept."

"I hate the concept of time."

"That sounds like your problem."

"That's right." I sighed and sat up on the bed. I just sat there staring out the window for a while. The sun was just rising and the U.A. campus was still relatively quiet. In a few hours, that wouldn't be the case anymore, because today the students, Class 1-A, the future heroes, the main characters of this world, would arrive.

After a quick shower and breakfast, I put on my uniform. I had to admit, it looked pretty good. Still better than most school uniforms, even though I'd never worn one in my life.

When I left the room, I just followed the map Nezu gave me and eventually arrived at the main study department building. And that's where things got interesting.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at class 1-A was the noise. The second thing was the person making the noise. "It's not appropriate to stand in the doorway! You're blocking the passage of other students! Such behavior is unacceptable!"

I stopped a few meters from the door and just watched the scene in front of me for a few seconds. A tall blue-haired boy with glasses was waving his hands vigorously at a green-haired boy standing in the doorway.

Midoriya. And opposite him stood the brown-haired girl Uraraka.

So we have officially begun.

"Sorry!" Midoriya apologized.

"I just wanted to look inside!"

"That's not an excuse!"

"That was an apology!"

"She wasn't formal enough!"

"How can an apology be formal?!"

"Very simple!"

"So these are the main characters," I noted,

"Humanity is lost."

Agrona replied, "I agree."

But unfortunately I said the last sentence out loud and all three of them turned around. Great, that's exactly what I wanted to avoid.

Everyone just winked at me together, the silence was finally broken by Uraraka when she shouted "Oh! You're the foreign student!"

And we are home.

""I saw your admissions!"" Midoriya asked. Of course he did. The boy could analyze even falling leaves.

"That red lightning thing was amazing! And that summoned demon! I don't actually know if it was a demon, because technically it could have been created from energy or some form of autonomous manifestation of the Quirk and—"

"Breathe."

"Huh?"

"Take a breath."

Listened.

Uraraka immediately burst out laughing.

"Sorry. He's always like that."

"I'm starting to notice."

"My name is Tenya Iida!" the blue-haired boy announced, immediately making his strange robotic hand gesture.

"It's an honor to meet you!"

"You too."

"That sounded unconvincing."

"Because it was." There was silence for a few seconds and then Uraraka laughed even harder, even Midoriya chuckled. Iida looked confused, so a normal start to a friendship?

Finally, we entered the classroom, and more students started to come in. It was strange to see people I had only known as anime characters. Now they were standing a few meters away from me, real.

For a moment, I remembered my original world. The computer screen and the evenings spent watching anime. The life I once led, if you could call it a life.

I still remembered a lot, but sometimes I felt like the details were slipping through my fingers.

"You're overthinking it again."

"Maybe."

"It doesn't make sense."

"I know."

But knowing something and accepting it are two different things. Even though I know I've kept my memories, I still feel a little bit bothered that I'm forgetting them over time...

Without much thought, I finally sat by the window at the back of the classroom, the so-called protagonist's seat.

I tried to be as inconspicuous as possible, but my plan to be inconspicuous lasted about two minutes.

"That's him."

"The white-haired boy."

"I saw a video of the European entrance exams."

"Me too."

"...That demon was crazy." "He was amazing."

I tried to ignore the voices and continued to watch the view from the window. But ignoring someone who had an aura of permanent anger around them was impossible in this classroom.

Boom. A shoe landed on the table a few feet away from me. Katsuki Bakugo. He was sprawled in his chair, his red eyes staring straight at me, an angry grin twitching at the corner of his mouth.

"Hey, you white-haired zero," Bakugo growled, a few sparks flying slightly from his palms. "I heard that crap about some clown from Europe. I don't know what kind of show you put on there, but if you think you're some kind of celebrity here, I'll stomp you into the ground on the first day. I'll be on top."

"Putting your feet on the table is extremely rude! You are insulting the memory of our predecessors and the work of the designers of this furniture!" Tenya Iida immediately intervened, starting to robotically slash the air with his hands.

"Shut up, four-eyed, or I'll blow you up too!" Bakugo snapped at him.

I just sighed and rested my chin on my hand. It looked fun in the anime, but living in the same room with them would be purgatory, I thought. "Agrono, can you hear that?"

"Noisy people, my lord," a calm voice from my shadow spoke in my head. "If you wish, I can silence them."

"You better not do that, they don't have to kick me out of here on the first day."

"If you came here looking for friends and think it's going to be fun, you can just pack up and go home," came a tired, hoarse voice from the door that gave me goosebumps.

The entire class immediately fell silent. A yellow, fat cocoon lay on the floor by the desk. It took a few seconds for a tired man with long black hair and dark circles under his eyes to emerge from it. Shota Aizawa.

"It took you a full eight seconds to calm down," Aizawa said as he rolled out of his sleeping bag. "That's a reprehensible lack of rational thought. I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Nice to meet you."

The class erupted in shock, but I just watched his tired gaze. Aizawa's eyes flicked over me for a moment, and I knew exactly what he was thinking. In the principal's office, he didn't seem thrilled to be there.

"I know it's a bit rushed," Aizawa reached into his sleeping bag and pulled out a blue and white tracksuit. "But put this on and go to the school playground. You're going to have a physical fitness test."

"What about the opening ceremony? Orientation?" blurted out the brown-haired girl, Uraraka.

"If you want to become a hero, you don't have time for unnecessary ceremonies," Aizawa cut her off coldly. "U.A. is known for its freedom. And that freedom applies to us teachers as well. I hope you're ready to show what's really inside you. And that applies to everyone without exception," he added, his eyes flashing red for a second as he looked in my direction.

I grinned. Physical fitness test. The first big canonical moment is finally here.
