Chapter 18 - Preparation

It's been over a week since I returned from the dungeon, I managed to conquer one more dungeon since then, honestly it wasn't much, nothing that would surpass Kasaku. At least these dungeons gave me special items

Inventory: Grimoire of Energy Manipulation, Dungeon Key 1x, Ordinary Dagger, Apple 1389X, Lycan Drape 8x, Lycan Tooth 6x, Lycan Fur 2x, X-Y Broth (just think of it as a daily quest waste), Kasak's Fang (dagger), Eye of the Orc King, Gold Coins 16534x, Mana Restoration Potion 2x

I also opened up a new function of the [Shop] system, but apart from potions it's of no use to me yet because everything is expensive.

At this point, I only have the last key left, and from its description, it leads to the demon's residence, so for now, nothing for me "I don't want to die, no thanks"

Another feature is equipment, where I currently only have the Eye of the Orc King equipped, which improves my perception.

otherwise my current status looks something like this

So I started preparing for the entrance exams, even though I have three years to go, I want to become as strong as I can, even though I'm probably as strong as Shoto at the school festival.

(time skip)

So, three more years have passed and I'm fifteen, entrance exams are in about a week, so it's the best time to go to the dungeon, right?

"So what do you think?" I asked.

Agrona appeared next to the window and looked at the key.

"I think that's a bad idea."

"You say that every time."

"Because most of your ideas are bad."

"And yet I'm still alive."

Agrona was silent for a few seconds.

"I still don't understand that."

A few minutes later, I stood before a black gate. The key shattered into particles of light, and the space before me literally tore apart. The darkness created an entrance to the dungeon. This time, I didn't feel excitement, but rather a strange unease, as if my instincts were telling me to turn around and leave. Of course, I ignored them and stepped inside.

I slowly moved forward, Kasak's fang in one hand and the shadow dagger in the other. Prepared for attack from every direction, but none came. After five minutes of walking I began to get nervous. After ten even more so. After fifteen I stopped and we arrived at a huge gate, a nyla perhaps thirty meters high, covered in demonic runes.

I slowly walked inside and immediately felt the pressure, the mana in the entire room was so thick that I had trouble breathing. In the middle of the hall stood a gigantic black beast. Three heads, red eyes, black fur.

[Kerberos Lv. ???]

"I completely forgot about that," I remarked, whereupon Kerberos opened his eyes and looked directly at me. "This is going to hurt." It didn't hurt, it was much worse, I didn't even see the first attack. One moment he was standing on the other side of the hall, the next I was flying through the wall, literally. The stone exploded around me and I ended up several dozen meters away. "Shit!"

Kerberos roared, a shockwave tore through the floor, I immediately created several shadow spears. They all hit and all disintegrated. Not a scratch.

"That's not good."

"A very detailed analysis, my lord."

"Shut up and help!"

The next few minutes felt like a fight for survival. I dodged, jumped, and used everything I had.

Kerberos was a monster. But after a while I noticed something strange. He wasn't defending one specific part of his body. His neck. More specifically, the place where all three heads connected.

And then I understood. I pumped all my energy into Kasak's fang. The mana rotation accelerated to its maximum. My muscles protested, my bones ached, but I continued.

Kerberos charged, I jumped up and plunged the blade straight into his neck, and it went through him like a knife through butter. The whole world stopped for a moment. Kerberos roared. The sound was so loud it cracked the walls, then his body began to disintegrate.

[miniboss defeated]

[Level 54 → 55]

"Was that a miniboss?" I leaned against the wall, panting. And then I noticed another gate. "Of course." I went inside and immediately froze. There was a throne room, a huge Monumental one, and at the end of it stood a black throne, broken and completely destroyed.

And right in front of him lay hundreds of dead demons, as if there had been a war, and in the middle of it all… lay a huge wyvern. Its black scales resembled obsidian, its folded wings covered half the hall, and even when it sat, it was bigger than any monster I had ever seen.

"It looks like you've improved Kaisel" I remarked and Agron looked at me "do you know him?", I saw a slight hatred in his eyes. Maybe it was because he was related to the dragons he despised?, I wondered, but now wasn't the time "I've heard something about him" I replied and prepared myself for a fighting position

The wyvern didn't move. The entire throne room was silent. Only water dripped somewhere among the rubble, echoing off the broken stone tiles. The silence was worse than any roar. I slowly gripped Kasak's fang tighter.

At that moment, a single golden eye opened, the pressure of mana exploded. The air literally trembled and I instinctively took a step back. All my instincts screamed only one thing: run, but it was too late, Kaisel raised his head.

The stone blocks around him began to crumble under the sheer weight of his presence, the black scales reflecting the light of the red demon crystals scattered across the walls, each one looking harder than steel.

Then he stood up, and I finally understood his true size. Kerberos was huge, but this was in a whole different league. Kaisel's head was almost touching the ceiling of the hall. "Fuck..."

Agron nodded.

"Exactly my words."

The next second the wyvern moved. I didn't see the attack, just the impact. Something hit me in the chest and the world turned upside down. I flew through several pillars, scattering stone into dust, and came to a stop against the far wall.

Pain shot through my whole body and I coughed up blood.

[HP reduced]

[Warning]

[Host has suffered serious damage]

"Great." I barely stood up. "I'm starting to hate this dungeon."

Kaisel was already moving again, a huge wing flying through the air. I immediately used the Authority of the Ruler. An invisible force threw me aside just as the wing crushed the floor where I was standing.

The explosion of stone filled the entire hall. I created dozens of shadow spears and they all fired at once.

She bumped into his scales.

And it fell apart.

Neither one penetrated. "It's not even possible again."

"It's a dragon."

"That's not a dragon."

"From a biological point of view, it is."

"This really isn't a good time."

Kaisel opened his mouth, mana gathering between his fangs. I immediately sensed danger.

"Move!" Agrona shouted.

I jumped aside. A black beam of energy shot through the hall. Half the room disappeared. The walls, columns, and floor were erased from existence in an instant.

Cold sweat ran down my back. If it had hit me… There would have been nothing left. The next few minutes turned into pure hell.

I kept attacking with ice, fire, lightning. weapons, ruler authority, everything and nothing worked.

The scales were too hard, his speed too high, his mana too monstrous.

I was hit by the tail again, this time flying through the throne, another rib cracking. I drank the potion almost immediately, its healing energy began to repair the damage, but my mana was already dropping dangerously fast. "I'm running out of energy."

"I noticed."

"Do you have a plan?"

Agrona looked at the fighting wyvern then smiled, and I didn't like that smile at all. "Maybe."

For the first time since the beginning of the fight, he stepped forward, a purple aura began to spread through his body and the entire space around him darkened, even Kaisel stopped, as if sensing something.

"What are you doing?"

"You'll see." Eather began to writhe around Agrona.

Then he held out his hand.

"Dragon's bonds." Purple chains formed from the shadow shot out of space itself. They wrapped around Kaisel's wings, neck, legs, his entire body was at that moment entangled in chains and held in place, the Wyvern immediately roared and tried to free itself. The chains stretched to the very edge of destruction.

Agron grunted in pain. For the first time, I saw the strain on his face. "I won't hold him long."

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

"Then move!"

That was enough for me, I kicked the mana potion into myself and focused all my energy into Kasak's fang. His blade became red-hot, the air around it vibrated and visibly cracked.

Kaisel kept trying to free himself, the chains cracking one by one.

I didn't have time. I ran and headed straight for the only place where the scales were weaker.

Eye. Kaisel turned and too late Kasak's fang sank deep into his right eye.

The wyvern roared, the entire hall shook, but I didn't stop. I sent all the remaining mana through the blade, forming a projectile at the end and shooting it straight into his head. "Die!" The energy exploded. Black light tore through the skull from the inside, then there was silence. The huge body trembled and fell to the ground.

[Level Up]

I fell to my knees, not even strong enough to stand. Agrona leaned against a broken pillar, looking as exhausted as I was.

"I hate dragons."

"This wasn't a dragon."

"Quite similar."

For a few minutes we both just lay on the ground in silence. Then I looked at the huge corpse. And smiled. "Well... shall we try?"

Agrona sighed. "Of course."

I placed my hand on Kaisel's body. Dark energy began to gather around the corpse.

"Get up."

Nothing.

[Attempt failed]

"What?"

Agrona laughed. "I expected this."

"Shut up." I placed my hand on its scales again. This time, I poured much more mana into the ability. Darkness spread throughout the wyvern's body. "Rise."

Nothing happened for a few seconds. Then the entire body disintegrated into shadows. A huge amount of darkness flooded the hall. A new silhouette began to form from the black mist. Slowly. Monumentally. Until finally Kaisel stood before us again. This time formed of pure shadow. His eyes shone with a dark blue light.

[Shadow extracted successfully]

[Shadow Soldier Obtained]

[Kaisel]

Elite Knight

I just stared at him for a few seconds. Then I smiled. "Okay." I looked at the giant shadow wyvern. "I think the entrance exams are going to be pretty interesting."

What I liked most about it was Agron's surprised expression, did my soldier really not believe me?

Now, but there was no time to discuss it "Hey Kaisel you can shrink", whereupon he shook his head up and down like a happy child, and then he changed to the size of a larger dog and started jumping around me happily and finally licked my face "okay ok that's enough okay? now go back into the shadows" and he obeyed

With that we returned home and he was ready for the entrance exams.
