​Outside the gates, Wei Chen smirked as he watched the heavy curtains of the villa remain closed. He turned to Ning's father, his voice dripping with false concern. "You see, Uncle? Xuan has lost his mind. He's keeping her prisoner." The older man's face was contorted with anger and shame. "My daughter... sacrificed to a madman. We should have never let them be together." Inside, Ning heard the faint sound of her father's voice calling her name from the gate. She lunged for the window, but Xuan caught her by the waist, lifting her off her feet. "No!" he hissed into her ear. "You aren't going out there so they can brainwash you further." He threw her back onto the bed, his jealousy reaching a level of insanity. He believed that if she stepped outside, she would never come back. He believed that the Wei family had a spell on her. "I'll kill him," Xuan whispered, his eyes dark with a lethal intent. "I'll kill Wei Chen before I let him take one step toward you." Ning screamed into her pillow, her cries of "I love you" lost in the suffocating tension of the room.
