Finn arrived four hours later with a bag that was too heavy for one person to carry comfortably and which he carried anyway, slightly tilted, because asking for help with equipment was apparently beneath him.
Kai watched him negotiate the ramp with the particular focus of a man who refused to acknowledge that gravity existed as a concept applicable to himself.
"You could have waited at the top," Roan said.
"I've been waiting at the top for four hours," Finn said, not slowing down. "I'm done waiting at the top."
He made it to the bottom without dropping anything. Kai suspected this was less coordination and more sheer stubbornness — the bag obeying out of respect.
Finn stopped in the doorway of the chamber.
Looked at the column.
Didn't say anything for a long moment.
"Yeah," Kai said.
"This is—" Finn started.
"Yeah."
"The signal artifact I intercepted. It came from this."
