Chapter 41 - War in the Shadows

The crimson laser sights webbed across the dark living room. Four heavily armed commandos from Draco's Black Squad advanced with practiced, silent precision. The heavy silence shattered instantly when the sound of a flipping sofa echoed from the corner.

Before the hitmen could even aim, suppressed gunfire erupted from the darkness. Abir's twin pistols barked cleanly, and the first two commandos collapsed to the floor without a sound.

"Take cover! He's behind the right pillar!" the remaining lead commando barked.

They unleashed a barrage of bullets toward the pillar. Seizing the distraction, Arisa hurled a heavy stone vase across the room. As the third hitman whipped around at the noise, Arisa didn't hesitate. She squeezed the trigger of her heavy revolver. The deafening blast roared through the mansion, and the man dropped instantly, clutching his chest.

The last surviving commando swung his rifle toward Arisa, but Abir materialized from the shadows like a panther. He disarmed the man in a split second, slamming him brutally against the concrete wall.

"Who sent you?" Abir snarled, his veins bulging with lethal intent. "One of Aryan's dead ghosts, or someone else?"

"Abir Khan..." the commando choked out, spitting blood with a sinister grin. "You only knew Aryan. You don't know our boss... Draco. You stole his diamond route maps. No one survives... none of you will make it."

Before another word could leave his mouth, Abir snapped his neck with a brutal twist. Silence reclaimed the room. Arisa stood breathing heavily, her hands trembling slightly, but her gaze remained ice-cold. Abir walked over, gently taking the smoking gun from her hand.

"Did you hear that, Arisa? Draco. The ultimate godfather of the international syndicate is coming for us. This war isn't just about this city anymore—it's against the global underworld."

Arisa looked straight into his dark eyes, a venomous smile touching her lips.

"Let Draco come, Abir. Aryan thought I was a puppet; Draco thinks we are easy prey. Tomorrow morning, we will package the corpses of his Black Squad and ship them right back to his doorstep. It's time he learns how the King and Queen play the game."
