Ashitaka's body was still extremely weak after suffering severe injuries, and he didn't even have the strength to chew the food princess mononoke gave him.
In such a situation, San chose to feed Ashitaka mouth-to-mouth.
Seeing this scene, Yamada Masaharu's heart melted.
The two talked for a while in the house, and Eboshi led the male protagonist to the town wall.
Although it was called a town wall, it was just a wooden ladder and a wooden fence Wai around the outside.
Through Eboshi's conversation, Yamada Masaharu learned that princess mononoke was a human girl, but she was abandoned in the wilderness when she was young and was eventually raised by white wolves. She had her own name, but she never recognized her identity as a human.
When humans hunted the beasts in the mountains, princess mononoke, as a member of the Mona Clan, would come out to stop them.
Compared to humans, San was more like the daughter of the White Wolf King.
Just then, a warning came from outside.
The person on the watchtower shouted, "princess mononoke is here!"
princess mononoke rode on the back of a white wolf, then leaped high when she reached the outer wall, her long spear directly piercing the tall wooden wall outside. She then lightly stepped on the shaft of the wooden spear and jumped onto the watchtower.
princess mononoke pulled out the bone dagger from her waist and directly knocked two people down below the wall.
It seemed Eboshi had already anticipated princess mononoke's arrival and had set up a trap early, waiting for her to fall into it. As soon as she entered the town, they would kill her with firearms.
To prevent princess mononoke from dying here, the male protagonist stepped forward.
The scene returned to the male protagonist, Yamada Masaharu, who climbed up one side of the town wall and then saw princess mononoke above a large expanse of connected rooftops.
At this point, the opponent's health bar appeared, unlike ordinary small monsters, it was a very long and thick bar horizontally across the top of the screen.
This battle was a BOSS fight on the rooftop, and the BOSS was princess mononoke San.
princess mononoke's movements were extremely agile, unlike the Boar God or the human knight BOSSes he had faced before. princess mononoke's movements were incredibly fast, and her figure was extremely nimble; she would hardly give you a chance to breathe before launching a fierce attack.
If you were even slightly greedy with your attacks, you would face the danger of being comboed to death by princess mononoke.
This battle was incredibly protracted.
Yamada Masaharu died at least dozens of times.
Being hit by the opponent was not too bad; if princess mononoke didn't chain her attacks, a single attack didn't cause much damage.
However, hitting her was quite troublesome.
Her movements were exceptionally agile, and she would always jump away right after the first hit.
The entire battle lasted for more than two hours, and after dying dozens of times, Yamada Masaharu finally defeated her.
"Are you with them too?"
princess mononoke let out a roar, lowered her mask, and then, bracing herself, ignored Ashitaka and charged towards the opposing leader, Eboshi.
A series of cannon fire exploded on the rooftop.
princess mononoke was also knocked to the ground.
After this cutscene ended, the male protagonist received a quest to defeat Eboshi and take princess mononoke outside Daidara Iron Town.
Damn it!
Just finished fighting princess mononoke, and now he has to fight Eboshi.
It doesn't give anyone a chance to breathe.
Quickly saved the game, Yamada Masaharu took a deep breath, and began this arduous task.
Previously, everyone in the town had no health bars and were friendly NPCs.
But after the male protagonist's stance changed, these guys became enemies with health bars.
This feeling was truly terrifying.
To show the male protagonist's kindness, the town residents he defeated, though fallen to the ground, were not truly dead; they had merely lost their ability to move.
He eliminated countless [enemies] along the way.
This also included a mini-BOSS—
Eboshi's loyal subordinate, Gonza.
Although he didn't have as much health as a BOSS, he was still exceptionally difficult to defeat.
Now, in Yamada Masaharu's mind, there was a standard for measuring the strength of a BOSS—
It was based on how many times he had to die before he could pass.
If he could pass without dying once, that monster was trash.
Dying three to five times to pass counted as an elite monster.
Dying about 10 times, that started to feel like a BOSS.
Like princess mononoke, whom he just encountered, she was definitely the most terrifying BOSS he had ever faced.
But there were also some exceptions, such as the Kodama in the forest, which were definitely more terrifying than the BOSSes.
As for Gonza, Yamada only died 6 times at his hands.
"What a weakling!"
Yamada Masaharu's lips curved into a slight smile.
He ran for a while.
He finally reached the center of the town.
In the wide town center, Eboshi was fighting princess mononoke.
Entering the BOSS battle.
Before entering the BOSS battle, there was a short cutscene:
Ashitaka stepped forward and, without a word, knocked princess mononoke unconscious.
Placing her aside, Ashitaka faced Eboshi alone.
He had originally thought that princess mononoke was the most difficult BOSS so far, but then he encountered Eboshi.
Yamada Masaharu realized he was wrong.
And terribly so.
If princess mononoke was an agile type, making one feel ecstatic and on the verge of death with a string of combos, then Eboshi combined princess mononoke's agility with great strength.
Although Eboshi was a woman, she was exceptionally tall, even a head taller than Ashitaka.
Not only could she use a warabite-style sword for close-range attacks, but she could also shoot at you from a distance.
She would directly raise her firearm and shoot you.
If you were hit, it was basically a critical blow.
In other words, Eboshi was a terrifying BOSS with both close-range and long-range capabilities, and her abilities were very balanced.
Her close-range warabite-style sword had a large attack range, and if you were outside a certain range, you would be attacked by her firearm.
Such a BOSS was simply too strong.
After dying about 40 times, Yamada Masaharu finally defeated Eboshi.
After Ashitaka knocked Eboshi unconscious, he handed her over to the women in the iron town.
In this battle, Ashitaka displayed extraordinary combat abilities, especially the monstrous strength in his right hand, which couldn't help but remind people of evil demons.
Ashitaka carried princess mononoke San on his shoulder and took her away from this place.
However, just as they were about to exit the gate, a woman from the iron town, whose family had died because of the White Wolf God, was unwilling to let them leave so easily. She raised her firearm and threatened Ashitaka, wanting him to leave princess mononoke behind.
The male protagonist ignored her and walked straight towards the gate, carrying princess mononoke.
Due to her excessive agitation, the woman's hand trembled, and the flintlock fired, directly piercing Ashitaka's body, creating a hole in his abdomen.
However, Ashitaka gritted his teeth and, carrying the unconscious princess mononoke, managed to lift the heavy gate.
The two rode Yakul and sped away.
Not long after running, Ashitaka fell from the back of the long-horned deer due to severe injuries and exhaustion.
At this point, princess mononoke had also awakened.
Two white wolves caught up from behind and, seeing Ashitaka on the ground, opened their mouths to bite him.
princess mononoke quickly stopped them.
"Stop it."
"He's mine."
princess mononoke jumped down from Yakul.
The white wolves also released their grip and stood behind princess mononoke.
San looked at Ashitaka on the ground and asked with some confusion:
"Were you shot?"
"Are you still alive?"
Ashitaka's head moved slightly, but he truly had no strength left, only able to lie face down on the ground.
princess mononoke knelt down anxiously, questioning Ashitaka in front of him:
"Why did you stop me?"
"Answer quickly before you die!"
"I didn't want… to let you die in vain…" Ashitaka responded with difficulty.
"I'm not afraid of death. To drive away humans, death is nothing to regret," princess mononoke replied firmly.
When she attacked the iron town tonight, intending to kill Eboshi, she had already prepared herself for death.
"I know. I knew it the moment I saw you…" Ashitaka said.
"Those who hinder me must die!"
After princess mononoke finished speaking, she turned the male protagonist onto his front and pulled the warabite-style sword from his waist.
Under the cold moonlight, the icy blade pointed at Ashitaka's throat, ready to end him in the next second.
But...
princess mononoke stopped.
The blade hovered in front of Ashitaka's neck, gleaming brightly under the cold moonlight.
The male protagonist's chest rose and fell erratically, breathing with difficulty, his eyes tightly shut.
At this moment, Joe Hisaishi's music began to play at just the right time.
Beautiful and melodious.
"I'm going to pierce your throat so you can't talk nonsense anymore!"
princess mononoke said this, as if to encourage herself, but no matter how hard she tried, gripping the hilt with both hands, she still couldn't stab down.
"Live," Ashitaka said.
"You're still talking!"
"You humans dare not order me around!"
Just then, Ashitaka suddenly opened his eyes.
He gazed at princess mononoke and murmured, "You are so beautiful."
Ah!
princess mononoke was startled and took a step back.
She became flustered.
Seeing this, Yamada Masaharu burst into joyful laughter.
"What's wrong, San?" The white wolf beside her leaned over and growled, "Let me bite him to death."
princess mononoke was breathing heavily, her chest rising and falling erratically.
Yamada said he understood this feeling very well; perhaps Ashitaka's words had struck her heart?
Just then, many gorillas appeared in the forest.
The gorillas were the wise ones of the forest; they threw stones at Ashitaka, wanting San to hand the male protagonist over to them.
Because, in their view, by eating humans, they could gain human strength, and perhaps even master those terrifying flintlock weapons.
With human strength, they could defeat humans.
But princess mononoke firmly disagreed, stating that eating humans would not grant human strength. The two sides were at a stalemate, and a battle was about to break out.
The camera returned to princess mononoke.
From here, the main character controlled by the player changed from Ashitaka to the female protagonist, San.
The skills still needed some getting used to, but overall, the controls were quite similar to Ashitaka's, with both close-range and long-range attack methods.
For close-range attacks, princess mononoke could choose two weapons: the first was the bone dagger.
Its attack range was relatively small, and its damage was not very high, but it was agile and controllable, without a long recovery time after completing a set of actions.
It could be said to have almost no recovery time, making it incredibly smooth in terms of flexibility.
Another option was to use a long spear. The long spear had a large attack range, high damage, and a longer reach than the dagger, but its movements were slow and its recovery time was long. If the attack rhythm wasn't mastered well, the enemy could potentially cut in.
For mounts, one could choose Yakul or a white wolf.
If a white wolf was chosen, the white wolf's passive attack could also be triggered; when the white wolf approached an enemy, it would bite, which was actually quite powerful.
Her jumping ability was greatly enhanced.
However, it was not as fast as Yakul.
And if Yakul was ridden, a charge attack could be initiated, where Yakul would use the pair of sharp horns on its head to gore enemies, causing damage.
Each had its own characteristics, one might say.
Out of novelty, Yamada chose to ride a white wolf.
Next was to protect Ashitaka and fight the gorillas.
This feeling was truly amazing, giving the illusion of fighting on horseback.
A 3D game, combined with Hayao Miyazaki's art style, was pure enjoyment.
After defeating the gorillas, a BOSS battle ensued. This time, the BOSS was an ancient giant ape covered in long white fur, with an exceptionally large body.
The ancient ape could not only run fast on the ground but also climb trees.
The entire battle phase was also divided into several parts; on the ground, you had to quickly switch to close-range attacks, and after this guy climbed a tree, you had to switch to bow and arrow.
In short, all the skills and operations Yamada Masaharu had mastered were brought to their full potential.
Dying less than 10 times, Yamada successfully dealt with the ancient ape BOSS.
After repelling them, princess mononoke took Ashitaka back to the Forest Spirit's forest.
She dragged Ashitaka's body and placed him on a small island in the center.
Calling it a small island, it was actually a small raised area within a depression, surrounded by water, and this patch of land was covered with beautiful green mosses of various kinds.
And in the center of the depression, a towering tree rose from the ground.
After doing this, San returned to the flat ground and waited quietly.
Next was an animated cutscene, where Pokeni directly quoted the original animation content from the movie:
Amidst the towering peaks, under the moonlight, a giant glowing humanoid walked through.
The glowing giant had a human-like body, but its head had long whiskers and animal horns, looking like a deer's head.
Its body was exceptionally tall, so much so that even the tallest trees in the forest couldn't obscure its head.
As the glowing giant walked, it created a powerful gust of wind.
This was the night form of the Forest Spirit.
The Forest Spirit would transform into a glowing giant at night, and during the day, it would change from a glowing giant into a multi-horned Deer King, which was the materialized form of the Forest Spirit.
It was now dawn.
The glowing giant's body rapidly contracted in the sky, then slowly descended.
When it returned to the ground, it had transformed into the size of a wild deer.
The daytime Forest Spirit had the body of a multi-antlered deer, with countless antlers on its head, but its face resembled a smiling old man.
Whenever its hooves stepped on the ground, a patch of weeds and flowers would grow beneath its feet.
However, these newly grown plants would wither and disappear in a very short time.
Yamada recalled an ancient Chinese saying: "Every step produces a lotus."
Wow, so beautiful.
So magical.
This scene is so beautiful.
The Forest Spirit possessed the ability to control life, either to revive or to take life, all depending on its choice.
No one knew what the outcome would be.
However, this time, the Forest Spirit lowered its head and kissed the male protagonist's wound.
Miraculously, when Ashitaka woke up, the wound pierced by the flintlock had vanished without a trace.
Looking around again, the Forest Spirit was gone.
However, when Ashitaka looked at his right hand, he closed his eyes with immense disappointment.
The Forest Spirit chose to save him but did not remove the curse on his hand.
This was also a form of punishment for him, Ashitaka thought.
Since the Forest Spirit chose to save the male protagonist, princess mononoke also decided to help him recover.
He wore a knowing smile throughout, not even knowing why he, a single man, was smiling.
But at that moment, he felt a sense of being healed.
Both sweet and warm.
But at that moment, he felt a sense of being healed.
