Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Lightning at the Millennium Stadium

Cardiff's Millennium Stadium was packed to capacity. The red and white contingents of the fans divided the stands into two distinct worlds, with songs and shouts colliding and echoing like two massive waves within the stadium.

Inside the players' tunnel, the atmosphere was so tense it was almost palpable.Vieira stood at the front of the Arsenal team, his gaze sweeping across the Manchester United lineup like a hawk's, finally settling on Cristiano Ronaldo. His eyes were cold, filled with undisguised hostility and scrutiny.

Cristiano Ronaldo met his gaze calmly, without flinching. His heartbeat was steady, his breathing deep and even, as if what was about to unfold was not a life-or-death battle, but a regular training session. This unusual calmness, however, caused the seasoned Vieira to furrow his brow slightly.

"Kid, you won't be so lucky this time," Vieira said in a low voice.

Cristiano Ronaldo's lips curled into a slight smile, but he didn't answer.Words were meaningless at that moment.

As the referee gestured, the players from both teams stepped onto the field, and the huge roar instantly reached its peak!

The match was a suffocatingly fast-paced and high-intensity contest from the very beginning.Arsenal had clearly learned their lesson, and their defense against Ronaldo was almost relentless.Vieira's close marking was like a shadow, and Gilberto Silva's defensive support was swift and precise.Whenever Ronaldo received the ball, two or three players would immediately surround him, using continuous, aggressive pressing and fouls to prevent him from turning and advancing.

For the first twenty minutes, Ronaldo struggled to move through the opponent's physically imposing defense, managing only a handful of touches and several attempts to break through being fiercely intercepted.Arsenal's defensive strategy seemed to be working.

Ferguson watched from the sidelines with a furrowed brow.Keane roared from midfield, encouraging his teammates.

However, Ronaldo remained patient.Like a most patient hunter, he meticulously analyzed his opponent's defensive rhythm and habits amidst constant high-intensity confrontations, searching for that fleeting opening.

Opportunities often arise after absolute suppression.

In the 31st minute of the first half, Manchester United intercepted the ball in their own half, and Scholes delivered a precise long pass to Ronaldo, who had dropped back to the right side of midfield to receive the ball.

This time, he didn't stop the ball and wait to be double-teamed.Just before Vieira's massive body closed in, he didn't even completely stop the ball; he simply used the outside of his right foot to gently flick it towards the incoming ball!

The ball obediently bounced forward three to five meters!

At the same time, Ronaldo unleashed all the explosive power within him in that instant!Like a red lightning bolt, he forcefully squeezed through the closing defense that Vieira and Gilberto Silva were about to form!

"It's over!Ronaldo! He's broken free!" The commentator's voice suddenly rose.

Step one!Get rid of your double defensive midfielders!

Step two!Facing Arsenal's last line of defense head-on – center-backs Sol Campbell and Kolo Toure!

Campbell, with his experience, fought and retreated, blocking the inside cutting lanes.Toure, on the other hand, quickly moved in to close the gap.

In that split second, Ronaldo made a decision that left everyone speechless. He neither continued dribbling nor attempted to pass to Van Nistelrooy, who was in an unfavorable position.

With nearly 30 meters from the goal and at a less than ideal angle, and when the whole world thought he would seek a passing combination, he swung his right leg and struck the lower middle part of the ball with the instep!

No warning! No adjustments!Only unwavering confidence and overwhelming power!

The ball lifted off the ground without spinning, like a white laser tearing through the air, hurtling straight toward the goal with an initial velocity too fast for the naked eye to detect!

Arsenal's German goalkeeper Lehmann was clearly unprepared. He may have anticipated Ronaldo's breakthroughs, crosses, and even cutting inside to shoot, but he never expected that the opponent would choose such an aggressive and unreasonable shooting method from such a long distance and under such difficult circumstances!

His diving motion was a fraction of a second too slow. The ball whistled past his fingertips like a cannonball, slamming heavily against the lower edge of the crossbar before bouncing violently into the net!The entire net trembled violently from the impact!

"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!"

The commentator's voice went completely mad, even cracking!

"Cristiano Ronaldo!A world-class goal!An incredible world-class goal!At the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff! In the FA Cup semi-final!He scored a goal that will go down in history!Manchester United 1-0 Arsenal!"

The entire Millennium Stadium seemed to be put on pause.Arsenal fans were stunned, while Manchester United's red camp erupted in cheers like a volcanic eruption after a brief moment of shock!

After scoring, Ronaldo didn't rush towards the corner flag.Instead, he ran straight to the camera on the sidelines. He pounded the Manchester United crest on his chest, his eyes sharp as knives, his face contorted with rage.He roared at the camera, at the whole world!

"Siuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-!"

This roar seemed to be a direct challenge to the whole of England, to the myth of "invincibility"!

Ferguson excitedly pumped his fists repeatedly on the sidelines, and all the substitutes rushed out to celebrate wildly.

Vieira stared grimly at the red number 7, surrounded by his teammates. He realized this young man was far more terrifying than when he faced him at Highbury. He possessed not only skill, but also a clutch gene—a heart capable of taking on everything in crucial moments and destroying everything.

Lightning ripped through the Cardiff night sky, tearing apart Arsenal's invincible aura.

The era belonging to Cristiano Ronaldo is rapidly approaching in the most domineering way
