Chapter 71 - Chapter 71 Mutants

Under the fearless escort of the zombie minions, the Reincarnators descended the building without incident and entered the underground parking lot.

The cost was that all the newly refined zombie minions were completely wiped out.

However, Zhou Ming never intended to keep them anyway.

White-haired zombies are the lowest-grade zombies; their combat power is inferior even to ordinary wild beasts, and they fear sunlight. Direct sunlight causes them harm, so they can't be taken outside at all.

One grade higher than white-haired zombies are black-haired zombies. Their combat power is close to a King of Beasts. Although they are also burned by sunlight, black-haired zombies can overcome their fear of sunlight.

One grade higher still are green-haired zombies. Their combat power is even stronger, and at night, they can contend with a Thousand Beast King!

Above that are blue-haired zombies, whose strength rivals a Myriad Beast King. They can move freely in sunlight and possess extraordinary combat power…

"It's really dark in here, can't see a thing," Xiang Zenan muttered, fumbling for a flashlight on him. Just as he was about to switch it on, Gong He, standing beside him, pressed his hand down.

"The power's out, of course it's dark," Gong He said helplessly. "Zombies have both hearing and sight. If you turn on a light in such a dark place, how is that different from streaking naked in a bustling market?"

"…" Xiang Zenan was so choked by Gong He's analogy that he almost couldn't speak, only weakly saying, "But what do I do if I can't see? I'm like a blind man in here."

"You can't see anything at all?" Gong He asked disbelievingly.

"Yeah, the Main God's enhancements are different from the comics. It's not a Soul Reaper Physique enhancement, it's just a pure Zanpakuto enhancement. My body can only undergo other enhancements separately, so…"

At this point, Xiang Zenan suddenly paused, surprised. "No way, you can all see in the dark?"

Hearing no one respond, Xiang Zenan's face fell, and a trace of melancholy rose in his heart. Well, he thought everyone was at the same level or at least similar, but it turned out he was the only clown.

"Sigh." Gong He shook his head, pulled a yellow Talismanic Incantation from his white coat, and quickly drew a Talismanic Incantation on it with a fluid stroke, then slapped it onto Xiang Zenan's forehead.

"Night Vision Talisman. As long as the Talismanic Incantation stays on, you'll have night vision as clear as day."

Xiang Zenan blinked, finding everything in his sight brightening.

"Wow, Uncle Gong, you really are a Daoist, amazing, amazing," Xiang Zenan praised sincerely.

"…" Gong He felt a wave of exhaustion. "Alright, alright, quickly find a drivable car. Let's get out of here."

In the darkness, the five quickly moved, soon finding an off-road vehicle.

Whale Shark placed his hand on the hood, and an invisible electromagnetic wave was released from his palm, sweeping over the entire car body.

"This one's good. Solid frame, spacious interior, reasonable mechanical structure, can handle all kinds of harsh roads. Most importantly…"

Whale Shark's lips curved into a smile, and two excited beams of light shot from his eyes: "A fierce, powerful engine! Truly mighty and potent!"

A tiny electric spark flashed and vanished in Whale Shark's hand. The sleeping machine before them was instantly awakened. The headlights emitted dazzling light, all the car doors unlocked, and the roaring sound of the engine echoed and boomed in the silent underground garage.

"Oh no!" Xiang Zenan's face changed as he pointed towards the distant darkness.

"They're coming!"

Shadowy zombie figures, attracted by the sound of the car starting, rushed towards them.

"Get in!" Whale Shark yanked open the car door. "Let me drive you out, let's crush them!"

"Are you really comfortable letting him drive?" Seeing Whale Shark overly excited, Gong He whispered to the others.

"You can swap with him, I don't mind," Qin Wumeng said coldly, walking towards the back seat.

"Hurry up, the zombies are already charging," Xiang Zenan was even faster than Qin Wumeng, having already opened a door on the other side and slipped into the car.

Gong He's mouth twitched, and he looked at Zhou Ming.

Zhou Ming smiled slightly at him and made a "please" gesture.

Gong He looked at Xiang Zenan, who was sitting by the window in the back, and Qin Wumeng, who was sitting in the middle, then lowered his head to look at his own wrinkled white coat, stained with suspicious smudges, and gave an awkward smile.

"I'll sit in the passenger seat, you go to the back," he said, then pulled open the door and got into the passenger seat.

Zhou Ming shrugged and was the last to get in.

As soon as the car door closed, Whale Shark floored the accelerator.

The car sped out, its tail swinging, accompanied by the engine's roar. Tires screeched, leaving long marks on the ground, knocking away two zombies that had struggled to reach them, and headed towards the exit of the underground parking lot.

Bang! Smash! Crack!

Zombies blocking the way were either scraped down or knocked flying, with the sound of breaking bones constantly echoing, which sounded quite pleasant.

"Which way? Who can turn on the navigation?" Whale Shark looked at the light at the garage exit and asked instinctively.

"…Or should I try if this car's built-in navigation works?" Gong He watched as a zombie crashed into the window on his side and took off the rearview mirror as it was flung away.

"Follow this route. I'll give you a new map once we're out of the city."

Zhou Ming handed Gong He a map, torn from who knows where, with a route thoughtfully drawn in thick lines.

Facing the surprised gazes of his teammates, Zhou Ming said indifferently, "I found it on a wall in an office when we were going downstairs. It's nothing, you can do it too if you pay attention to details in life."

"Compared to you, I feel like a complete waste," Xiang Zenan sighed, rubbing his forehead.

"No need to doubt, it's not 'like,' you *are* a waste," Gong He sighed. "Me too."

"A King has the talent of a King, a chef has the talent of a chef, even a roll of toilet paper has its use… used ones excluded. How can a person be so self-deprecating?" Whale Shark's powerful voice came through. "Hold on tight, we're breaking through!"

Boom!

The silent street was suddenly broken by a dull rumble. Wandering zombies abruptly lifted their heads, looking towards the source of the sound, even those with shriveled, raisin-like eyes, or even just hollow eye sockets.

Then, as if receiving a command, the zombies frantically charged in that direction.

"Bang bang bang bang!"

The windows of the off-road vehicle were rolled down, and the occupants, holding guns, picked off approaching zombies one by one, ensuring the car's unobstructed passage and preventing it from being surrounded.

Facing the various debris and corpses on the road ahead, Whale Shark showed no intention of slowing down. Instead, he pressed harder on the accelerator, crushing everything in his path.

The rapidly moving car swayed as if it would overturn at any moment, yet it continued to speed through under Whale Shark's superb driving skills, leaving batch after batch of pursuing zombies behind.

"A few particularly fast little things are catching up from behind."

Whale Shark glanced at the only remaining rearview mirror on the left and warned his teammates.

"I'll take care of it." Zhou Ming leaned out and looked back, seeing several zombies running on all fours like dogs, moving incredibly fast.

'Is this a mutated form?' Zhou Ming observed the few distinctive zombies curiously for a few moments, then shot them all in the head, eliminating them.

[Killed 1 Elementary Mutated Form, gained 1 reward point]

[Killed 1 Elementary Mutated Form, gained 1 reward point]

[Killed 1 Elementary Mutated Form, gained…]

Several consecutive Main God prompts confirmed Zhou Ming's guess.

"They're Elementary Mutated Forms, very weak, easily dealt with."

Zhou Ming sat back in the car and informed his teammates.

"As easy as killing ordinary zombies?" Whale Shark asked.

"As easy as killing ordinary zombies," Zhou Ming replied.

"But their price difference is a thousandfold!" Whale Shark's eyes began to glow, literally with electric flashes, as if he had found a path to riches.

"Mutated Forms are relatively rare, I guess. We've killed so many ordinary zombies, yet we've only seen these few Elementary Mutated Forms," Zhou Ming casually replied.

"Is there a possibility that killing them is so easy only because you're stronger?" Xiang Zenan mumbled softly.

He was just complaining, not expecting anyone to respond, but to his surprise, everyone went silent.

"What's wrong?" Xiang Zenan looked bewildered. "Did I, did I say something wrong?"

"Shh." Gong He, in the passenger seat, whispered, "Listen, something big is coming!"

Xiang Zenan paused, then heard a faint, indistinct sound, like a powerful heart beating rapidly.

"Thump! Thump! Thump!"

No! Xiang Zenan distinguished it; it wasn't a heartbeat, but footsteps. It was the sound of some behemoth running, its heavy steps pounding on the ground!

"Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!"

The sound grew increasingly urgent, then suddenly burst from the intersection ahead, revealing its full form before everyone.

It was a gigantic monster, about three meters tall, with rough, grayish-green skin and a hideous, inhuman face.

Most striking was its excessively large right arm, almost as thick as its waist, with a clenched fist larger than its head, exuding a stony hardness and sense of power.

"What is this, a Charger?" Xiang Zenan's eyes widened in astonishment, watching the huge mutated form get closer and closer to the car. He tried firing a few shots, but the bullets lost momentum after penetrating the mutated form's skin, getting stuck in its thick muscle fibers.

Screech!

The car suddenly braked hard. Before it had fully stopped, Whale Shark opened the door and leaped out.

"Such a monster, it's only right that I deal with it!"

The berserk Whale Shark, activating the powerful force of his electrical propulsion, charged straight at the massive mutated form, which was a full size larger than him, with an even fiercer and more potent force!

Boom!

It was clearly the collision of two bodies, yet it produced a roar comparable to two trains colliding!

And the vast disparity in size, which seemingly should have led to an obvious outcome, was completely reversed from what was expected.

The relatively smaller one stood motionless, without even a tremor in its body. Instead, the larger, stronger one was sent flying backward, crashing heavily into the wall of a nearby building, causing the wall to crack in several places!
