Chapter 8 -  Hinata’s Second Personality

Creak—

The door to the study slowly slid open, and a small figure stepped quietly into the dim room.

Moonlight poured in from outside, stretching the child's shadow long across the floor.

"What a pain… I honestly thought you wouldn't follow me here," Menma said as he stepped out from the darkness, scratching his head in confusion.

The Limited Tsukuyomi World was supposed to be fake. So why had the dark Nine-Tails followed him here? And why had his girlfriend come along as well?

Inside the Hyuga clan head's study, two figures—one large, one small—stood facing each other less than two meters apart.

Menma removed the white three-eyed fox mask and looked down at the little figure standing in the moonlight at the doorway.

Hyuga Hinata.

Unlike the timid and gentle Hinata he knew from the original world, this Hinata had her Byakugan activated, veins bulging around her temples as she glared fiercely at him.

Within those pure white eyes swirled resentment and complicated emotions beyond words.

Hinata raised one hand, condensing Gentle Fist chakra, and charged straight at Menma.

"You…!" she shouted as she leapt forward—yet tears fell before her fist did.

"You damn scumbag!"

Her strike landed squarely on Menma's chest, shattering his Transformation Jutsu on the spot.

Poof!

A puff of smoke burst out as Menma reverted back to his real child form.

"I'm sorry, Hinata."

Those simple words made her emotions finally collapse.

She threw herself onto him and began sobbing uncontrollably.

"You knew! You knew all along! No matter what you did… I would have forgiven you!" Hinata cried, biting hard into his shoulder as she vented years of grievance.

"Hey—ow! You really bit me!" Menma hissed in pain, but he didn't stop her.

The gentle Hinata from the manga would never have done something like this.

But if it was the bold, hot-tempered "Big Sister Hinata" from the Limited Tsukuyomi World—then it made perfect sense.

After a while, once she had cried herself out, Hinata sat on Hiashi's desk with tear-stained eyes, watching as Menma transformed back into his adult form and continued rummaging through her father's collection of books.

After waking up earlier, she had been escorted back to the main house and heard from the guards about the night's attack—about the mysterious man wearing a white three-eyed fox mask.

Knowing Menma's obsession with Hyuga history, she had kept her Byakugan activated, waiting in the study for him to return.

And sure enough—she had caught him red-handed.

"If our world was fake… then why do I exist?" Hinata asked suddenly.

"I've been wondering the same thing," Menma replied while flipping through ancient texts and storing anything useful into his storage scroll. "It's not just you. The dark Nine-Tails revived inside me too."

"There were so many things about that world that felt unreal. No legends of the Sage of Six Paths, no Madara… but the emotions I felt with you were completely real. Sometimes I really can't tell anymore."

Thinking about it made his head ache again.

"Umm… how do I explain this…" Hinata swung her bare feet in the air thoughtfully.

"This body of mine actually has another personality—or maybe another soul—completely opposite to me," she said, pointing to her chest.

"Hmm?" Menma turned toward her in surprise.

He had assumed that once "Big Sister Hinata" appeared, the original Hinata had disappeared. But it seemed they were two souls sharing one body.

"Hey, little Hinata, let me introduce you. This is the scumbag boyfriend I always talk about—Menma," Hinata suddenly declared with a grin.

Then her head dropped.

A moment later, she snapped upright again—this time blushing furiously.

"S-Sister! Don't say things like that!"

The Hinata in front of him now—shy, flustered, practically steaming with embarrassment—was clearly the original Hinata from the manga.

Menma watched her with amusement, placing a hand gently on her head.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Menma."

"H-Hello… I'm also Hinata…" she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Feeling his warm hand on her head made her face grow even redder. She lowered her gaze, fidgeting shyly.

"So… how should I tell you two apart?" Menma asked, leaning closer.

"Um… normally I'm the one outside… Sister only comes out occasionally…" little Hinata answered timidly.

It seemed that maintaining the "Big Sister" personality required chakra.

Menma pondered this.

In the shinobi world, the relationship between chakra and the soul was always a delicate mystery.

"Alright then. I'll call you Little Hinata," Menma decided with a smile.

"You can just call me Menma—or brother-in-law if you prefer," he added with a thumbs-up.

Little Hinata blushed even harder.

Ever since she could remember, she had known another personality lived inside her.

As the heir of the Hyuga main family, she had been trained strictly from a young age—but her gentle nature often disappointed her father and the elders.

Whenever she faltered, Big Sister Hinata would take over, displaying incredible talent and bluntly scolding the adults.

Calling Hiashi and the elders things like "old geezer" and "fossil," she had offended nearly everyone in the clan.

Hiashi both admired and feared that second personality—impressed by her decisiveness, but exasperated by her lack of manners.

And from listening to her sister constantly complain about her "scumbag boyfriend," little Hinata had grown deeply curious about him.

Smack!

Suddenly, Hinata slapped Menma's hand away.

"You scumbag! Don't you dare lay a finger on my little sister!"

Big Sister Hinata had taken control again.

"Back then you were all lovey-dovey! Whispering cheesy lines and promising to give me a son and a daughter!" she shouted angrily, remembering how he had "tricked" her in that world.

'T-This… this is too embarrassing to hear!' Little Hinata screamed internally, covering her face in the mental space.

"Well… that was back then," Menma laughed awkwardly.

"Go die, you filthy scumbag!"

Her response was immediate—a Gentle Fist strike straight toward his face!
