Chapter 2 - Buying the sect

A sound echoed in wang ping head.

Ding!

[INFINITE MONEY SYSTEM HAS BEEN ACTIVATED.]

[Host detected: Wang Ping.]

[Congratulations, host, on awakening the system.]

[Ding! Newbie Beginner Pack is being distributed…]

[Ding! Congratulations! You have obtained: Invincible Field.]

[Invincible Field: Covers a diameter of ten meters. Within this field, the host is completely invincible—no attack can harm you.]

[Note: This field moves with you.]

Wang Ping stood frozen for a moment as the voice echoed directly in his mind. Then, an uncontrollable laugh nearly escaped his lips as only the solemnity of the ceremony kept him from bursting out loud. Instead, he laughed inwardly, his heart soaring.

"Hahahaha! Finally! I actually got a system! And such a top-quality one at that it literally made me invincible!"

His excitement was still bubbling when another ding sounded in his ears.

[Ding! Host, it has been detected that you are the host of the Infinite Money System. A quest is being issued.]

[Quest Target: Buy the Azure Sword Sect.]

[Rewards: Fame (1000), Current Fame (1).]

[Host, how can a noble figure like me—such a magnificent system have a host without any lackeys? You should buy this sect and grant them the honor of becoming your subordinates.]

Wang Ping stared at the translucent panel floating before his eyes, his own expression one of utter disbelief. He simply couldn't help himself.

"System, what the hell is this? Are you trying to get me killed?!"

Wang Ping was genuinely shocked. For a brief moment, he wondered if this system had some hidden agenda that perhaps it wanted him dead from the very beginning.

Then, the system's voice returned, calm and unhurried.

[Host, do not forget the Invincible Field I have just granted you. Furthermore, you may purchase anything from the System Mall which would be absolutely free of charge and without limit.]

Seeing the system's message, Wang Ping let out a long sigh and relaxed his shoulders.

"Oh, right… I almost forgot about my Invincible Field."

He paused, then nodded to himself.

"Alright, system. Open the mall."

The moment the mall interface materialized before his eyes, Wang Ping's eyes widened so much it felt as though they might pop right out of their sockets.

[Immortal Grade Qi Gathering Pills]

[Enlightenment Pills]

[Immortal Grade Breakthrough Pill]

[Immortal Grade Spirit Sword]

[Immortal Grade Defensive Armor]

The list went on, each item more outrageous than the last.

Wang Ping's voice came out in a breathless whisper. "System… isn't this too much? Why are all the items Immortal Grade?"

[Ding! Host, you are MY host. Only Immortal Grade items barely qualify for someone of your stature.]

Before Wang Ping could respond to that staggering declaration, he realized that the line had moved. There were now no more children in front of him. The steward standing by the floating blue orb turned his cold, indifferent gaze toward him.

"Put your hands on the orb, kid," the steward said, his voice flat and devoid of any warmth.

Wang Ping heard the words but didn't immediately move. Instead, he shook his head slowly, took a few deep breaths to steady his nerves, and then lifted his gaze toward the high platform where the Sect Master sat surrounded by the elders.

The entire ground was still. Hundreds—no, thousands of young aspirants and their families waited in silence for the next result.

Then, Wang Ping opened his mouth and shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice ringing across the vast training ground, echoing off the distant mountains:

"SECT LEADER! I WANT TO BUY YOUR SECT!"

The ground fell into absolute silence.

Not a single breath was drawn.

Not a single leaf rustled.

For one long, suspended moment, the entire Azure Sword Sect which were stewards, disciples, elders, and even the birds in the nearby trees seemed to freeze in place.

Every single pair of eyes turned toward the young man standing alone beside the glowing blue orb, his robes fluttering slightly in the mountain breeze.

Wang Ping stood there, heart pounding, but he did not look away from the Sect Master's distant figure.

The silence was deafening.
