Chapter 46 - CHAPTER - 46

There was no going back.

I should have looked away.

Should have let him rebuild that wall.

Pretend it never happened.

But I didn't.

Instead -

I tilted my head slightly, studying him.

"…Then why did your hands shake?

A pause.

Small.But enough.

Cheng Mo's eyes flickered—sharp, dangerous.

"Shu Lin."

A warning.

I didn't stop.

"You said it meant nothing," I continued softly, leaning just a little closer. "Then prove it."

Silence snapped tight between us.

"Prove you didn't want it."

That did it.

His restraint shattered.

In an instant, his hand caught my wrist—pulling me forward, closing the distance I had dared to challenge.

"Stop pushing me," he said, voice low—

but it was already too late.

His lips crashed into mine again.

Harder than before.

No hesitation.No control.

It wasn't a question this time—

it was an answer.

My breath caught as he held me there, grip firm, unyielding, like he wasn't letting me escape what I had started.

The kiss deepened—intense, almost punishing, like every word I had said was being returned all at once.

His other hand moved—

not careful now.

Not restrained.

Sliding beneath the fabric of my shirt, palm warm against my skin, grounding, steady—yet carrying a tension that made everything sharper.

Closer.

Real.

I stiffened for a fraction of a second—

then didn't pull away.

Didn't stop him.

And that—

Only made it worse.

His grip tightened slightly, drawing me closer as if distance itself annoyed him, as if letting go now wasn't even an option.

The kiss slowed—

not softer—

just deeper.Heavier.

Like he had stopped pretending.

Like he had stopped fighting it.

For a moment—

nothing existed outside of this.

Not pride. Not control.

Not even the reasons we were supposed to stay apart.

Just this pull—

dangerous and undeniable.

Then—

He pulled back.Barely.

Forehead almost touching mine.

Breathing uneven.

Eyes darker than before—

but no longer hiding it.

"…Satisfied?" he asked quietly.

But this time—

there was no mask in it.

Only tension.

Only something he couldn't take back.

I looked at him, pulse still unsteady.

And instead of answering—

I leaned closer.

Just enough to close that last bit of distance again.

Because now—

I wasn't the only one who had crossed the line.

And we both knew it.
