Chapter 2 - chapter:2 Hard Days Never Stop Her

Riya's life was not as simple as her dreams.

Every morning, she woke up before the sun. The air was still cool, and the village was quiet. While others were sleeping, Riya was already helping her mother in the kitchen. She cleaned the floor, washed utensils, and helped prepare food.

Her mother often looked at her and said softly,

"You don't have to do so much, Riya."

But Riya always smiled and replied,

"It's okay, Maa. I like helping you."

The truth was… she didn't want her parents to feel alone in their struggles.

After finishing her work, she quickly got ready for school. Her uniform was old and slightly faded, but she wore it neatly. She tied her hair and picked up her bag, which had only a few books.

Her school was not far, but the journey felt long sometimes. Dusty roads, hot sun, and tired steps — it was part of her daily life.

When she reached school, she sat quietly in her class. The classroom had broken benches and old walls. Sometimes, the teacher did not even come. Some students didn't care about studies at all.

But Riya was different.

She listened carefully, even when there was very little to learn. She tried to understand everything. She asked questions, even when others laughed at her.

"Why do you ask so many questions?" one girl once said.

"You think you are very smart?"

Riya stayed quiet.

She didn't want to argue. She just wanted to learn.

After school, she walked back home under the hot sun. By the time she reached, she was already tired. But her day was not over yet.

She helped her mother again — cooking, cleaning, bringing water. Sometimes her hands hurt, sometimes her back felt heavy, but she never complained.

Evening came, and slowly the village started becoming quiet again.

This was the time Riya waited for.

When everything was done, she quietly took her books and went outside. Near her house, there was a street light. It was not very bright, but it was enough for her.

She sat under it, opened her book, and started studying.

The light flickered sometimes. Insects moved around it. The ground was not comfortable. But Riya didn't care.

She was focused.

Hours passed, and she kept studying.

Sometimes, people passed by and looked at her. Some smiled, but most of them laughed.

"Look at her," someone said.

"Studying like this won't change her life."

Another voice added,

"She is just wasting her time."

Those words reached her ears.

And yes… they hurt.

For a moment, her hands stopped. Her eyes became heavy. She looked at her book but could not read.

A question came into her mind…

"Are they right?"

She looked around. The dark road, the weak light, her simple life…

Everything felt small.

For a few seconds, she felt like giving up.

But then, she remembered that day in the market. That man with the smartphone. That one sentence:

"You can learn anything."

Her eyes slowly filled with determination again.

She held her book tightly and whispered to herself,

"No… I will not stop."

She took a deep breath and continued studying.

That night, she studied longer than usual.

Because sometimes, when the world doubts you… you have to believe in yourself even more.

Days passed like this.

Same routine. Same struggles.

But something inside Riya was changing.

She was becoming stronger.

She was not afraid of hard work anymore.

She was not afraid of people's words.

She had learned one important thing:

"People will always talk… but your actions will answer them."

There were days when she felt very tired. Days when her body wanted rest, but her dreams did not let her stop.

One night, it started raining heavily.

The street light was flickering, and the ground became wet. It was not possible to sit outside.

Riya stood under the small roof near her house, holding her book.

The rain was loud. The wind was strong.

She tried to read, but the pages kept moving.

For a moment, she felt helpless.

Tears slowly came into her eyes.

"Why is it so difficult?" she whispered.

But then, she wiped her tears and smiled slightly.

"Maybe… because my dream is big."

She held her book tighter and continued reading, even in that situation.

That night, she learned something more than just studies.

She learned patience.

She learned strength.

She learned that life will not always be easy… but giving up is never the answer.

Slowly, step by step, she was moving forward.

Even if the progress was small… it was real.

And somewhere far away…

Life was preparing a surprise for her.

Something she never expected.

Something that would change everything.

But for now…

Riya was still that girl sitting under a street light, fighting her own battles silently.

And maybe…

That was the most powerful thing about her.
