1 | The Ending I Couldn't Escape…Again

"Don't ever leave me again."

Lucian heard these words from a girl with long platinum blonde hair, calm sapphire blue eyes and wearing the same uniform as him.

She smiled at him but his expression was one of anguish, he looked as if his body was giving up.

Blood trickled down his mouth and onto his lap and it was then he saw the knife in him, stabbing his heart and her hands around it.

"S-Seraphina…" He muttered, more blood poured out of his mouth as she twisted the knife and the sound of the knife cutting his insides was the only sound left.

"My love, no one will come between us now." She said and moved her head close to his.

He could feel her breath on his face, how near she was, she smelled like a garden of roses probably because she had a garden in her house.

She was alluring yet she was also weird. She pressed her forehead against his and then slowly her lips touched his and she kissed him deeply.

Lucian at this point was too dazed to make sense of anything, he should've been dead by now but he was not.

Had she used a spell so that he doesn't die quickly? Does him bleeding out in her arms with her hands being the cause excite her?

Maybe perhaps it did all those things, and then after a few more minutes after she was satisfied and had a blush on her cheeks she pulled out the knife and let Lucian fall back.

Lucian closed his eyes and let death take over him.

The sound of birds chirping woke him up, he groaned and got up from the bed he lay in. The room was normal sized, a bed was in the corner with a table on its left and a cupboard in front of it.

A window was on the left of the table opening into the boy's dormitory of the Belmont Royal Academy.

He sighed and lowered his head just enough that it rested on his hands.

'How many times have I died now?' He thought still in that same position.

'How many more times do I have to go through it all?'

He swallowed hard, the lump in his throat which had made uttering a single word impossible dissolved and he let go of his face and got up from the bed.

He felt dizzy all of a sudden and grabbed the nightstand. This had happened after every reset.

Then he looked down at his chest, there was a new scar among the countless other scars on his torso. His arms were also full of scars. Every reset left a mark on him, so that he may not forget the pain.

He traced his right hand over the newest addition as though it was a defect on his body. He was a prisoner in this body, he despised it all but there was nothing he could do.

He moved to the cupboard and took out the uniform.

Then he moved into the bathroom on the side and let the water wash away the depressive mood from the last reset.

After a few minutes he was done and he got ready for classes. He grabbed the sword which lay against the bed and walked out of his room, locking it behind him.

The dorm was big enough to house all two hundred first and second years, he walked down to the ground floor and through the main hall went outside.

This day had always been like this, sunny with a slight wind blowing which made the heat bearable.

He looked around him and saw the same things he had seen countless times. The boy and girl on his left were about to kiss. The girl coming from the front was about to trip.

Two boys on his right were about to use some magic spells while a group of girls gossiped in the lawn on the right.

He made his way to his classroom, it was in one of the farthest blocks from his dorm. He sat down at an empty chair at the back and looked out of the window.

'My last reset was the 36th cycle, that means this is the 37th. Who do I go with this time? Or should I wait before choosing who to go with…dammit…I can't even think straight….'

His thoughts were a jumbled mess as he thought of the things he needed to do but his brain was still not over his last cycle.

He thought that one would be his last cycle but alas fate is cruel. Miracles are something which define a single point in time and fate determines one's whole life.

'Am I going to be stuck in this endless death loop till eternity? Will I ever…be free.'

As he was riddled with despair the air shifted. Something smelled wonderful to him and it was at that moment he heard a voice near him.

"Lucian, is there something outside?"

He looked at the source of the voice to see the smile he knew too well, the scent was erratic for and the woman who pushed a knife in his heart not too long ago.

It was Seraphina Elrose standing in front of him.
