"Ah, yes." A pause. "How clumsy of me."
She said it with the tone of someone admitting they left the key in the door — not embarrassment.
Kai looked at her.
"It happens," Lira said, in the same tone.
Serah had stopped fighting.
Not because the S-rank vampires had stopped — but because she had sensed something the moment Lira emerged from the darkness.
Recognition.
She turned.
Lira looked at her at the same time.
The silence between the two lasted three full seconds.
