Chapter 66 - Backing of the Council

"Tell me more about you, Adeline," Tiger said as they sat for dinner. Gideon was absent; the rut had flared up again, forcing him to leave the house abruptly after making an excuse.

"There's nothing much to know about me," she replied, stirring the spoon in her bowl of meatball soup.

"Everyone has something worthy to share," Tiger countered, watching her closely.

"She's as stubborn as Gideon," Micah added, noting one of her traits. Adeline shot a playful yet sharp glare at him.

"It's the truth," he remarked, unfazed.

"I'm not stubborn in every situation," she stated, setting her spoon down. "I just prefer to be sure of things before I commit to them."

She turned her gaze toward the doorway, her expression clouded with worry. "Will Gideon be okay? He left so suddenly for work, and he didn't even ask you to accompany him," she said, looking pointedly at Micah.
