"Alpha Renard?" Adeline spoke into the device.
"Adeline!" Relief was evident in his voice. "I'm glad you agreed to talk to me. Your stepmother was just here, along with your stepsister."
"Why?" Adeline's brow furrowed in confusion and mounting worry.
"They claimed that you were the one who told your father to meet the person who killed him. They were adamant about having you interrogated immediately," Renard stated.
"So, did you agree, Alpha Renard?" she asked. She braced herself for the familiar sting of being doubted; it had always been that way back home.
"I refused. I found the whole thing suspicious," Renard replied. "That's why I called you. Do you have any idea what's actually going on?"
