Chapter 18 - Kiana

That day—

When Hikari Aoi returned to the dorm—

He suddenly noticed something unusual.

In the building that should have been completely silent—

There were sounds.

He raised an eyebrow.

Without hesitation, he changed direction and moved toward the source.

After nearly two months—

His strength had already far surpassed that of an ordinary person.

There was no way he'd call the police over a mere intruder.

On the first floor of the boys' dormitory—

Which was supposed to house only him—

A door in the central corridor had been violently kicked open.

Inside—

Was a girl.

White hair.

Blue eyes.

Beautiful.

With a well-proportioned figure.

Her twin braids gave off the air of a noble young lady—

Yet—

Her behavior and speech were completely unrefined.

She lounged casually on a bare wooden bedframe in the unused dorm room—

Legs crossed, occasionally swinging them lazily.

A phone in hand, scrolling idly.

Muttering to herself from time to time—

"…Nagazora City… Honkai… nothing special…"

As Hikari Aoi approached—

The white-haired girl shifted her posture—

Then flopped onto her back.

She tossed her phone aside and groaned weakly:

"So hungry… I really want—cup noodles… made by a beautiful girl…"

Knock. Knock. Knock.

The moment he heard that utterly unique line—

Hikari Aoi already knew who had trespassed into his territory.

Originally, he had planned to drive her out—

But now, he simply knocked on what remained of the shattered door.

The noise startled the seemingly exhausted girl—

Who instantly sprang up from the bed.

"Who are you?"

"Hikari Aoi. Student of Tachikawa Academy."

He spoke calmly.

"This is the student dormitory of Tachikawa Academy. Isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to just barge in like this?"

"Huh? Dormitory?"

The girl frowned.

"Isn't this just an abandoned building?"

Hikari Aoi twitched slightly.

"Abandoned?"

"Yeah. No one lives here. That means it's abandoned."

Despite being caught trespassing—

She showed zero embarrassment.

Instead—

She sounded completely justified.

"I live here."

Hikari Aoi replied flatly.

"Since I'm currently the only male student at Tachikawa Academy, I'm also the only resident here."

Even after hearing that—

The girl showed no real reaction.

"Oh. So it's not abandoned."

"..."

Hikari Aoi fell silent.

And just as he did—

The girl's eyes suddenly lit up.

"Since you live here, you must know where to find food, right?"

"I have some in my dorm."

Her eyes sparkled even brighter.

"Then hurry and take me there."

"Give me a convincing reason, unidentified illegal intruder."

Hikari Aoi originally thought—

She would at least try to come up with some excuse.

Probably a stupid one—

But still something.

However—

Reality proved he had overestimated her.

"Unidentified illegal intruder…?"

She looked around blankly.

Then pointed at herself.

"Are you talking about me?"

Hikari Aoi was stunned.

"This is a dormitory with an owner."

"You sneaked in, broke the electronic lock at the entrance, and kicked down a door."

"Do you seriously think all that was reasonable and legal?"

"…Uh…"

Only now did the girl seem to realize her position.

Her expression froze for a few seconds.

Then she straightened up and declared:

"I'm Kiana Kaslana. I entered by accident, sorry for the disturbance—so please give me something to eat."

…As expected.

Getting her to come up with a proper excuse—

Was impossible.

Hikari Aoi sighed.

Then took out a piece of peanut candy—

Something one of his classmates had forced into his hands earlier.

Maybe—

If she ate something—

Her currently slow and somewhat silly brain would start working again.

Kiana showed no real caution.

She sniffed it—

Then quickly unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth.

Chewed a few times—

Swallowed.

Then immediately extended her hand again.

"Tastes good. But it's not filling. Got more?"

"…Before that," Hikari Aoi said calmly,

"I think we should settle accounts."

"You broke the electronic lock at the entrance using brute force."

"You kicked down a dorm room door."

"And just now, like a cow chewing a peony, you swallowed a heartfelt gift from my classmate without a shred of respect."

"Rounding everything up—you've caused me damages totaling one hundred million."

"How do you plan to repay that?"

"One hundred million…?"

Kiana froze.

Then started counting on her fingers.

"Ten… hundred… thousand… ten thousand…"

By the time she reached a hundred million—

She looked at her fully spread hands—

Eyes wide in shock.

"How could it be that much?! You're messing with me!"

Hikari Aoi blinked.

…Her sense of money was actually normal?

He had even prepared to explain just how massive one hundred million was—

And how it would justify making her work for him indefinitely.

"No, I'm not."

Hikari Aoi said seriously.

"That electronic lock was developed by a Tachikawa Academy graduate with advanced technology and deep emotional attachment to his alma mater."

"The door itself may not be expensive, but the repairs will create noise and disrupt my studies."

"I used to intern at a well-known company—ME Corp—but gave it up to pursue a greater future through studying."

"If my studies are affected, everything could go downhill."

"You've practically destroyed my life."

"That alone is worth close to one hundred million."

"And the peanut candy—"

"That was a heartfelt gift from my classmate."

"What did you think of it?"

Kiana hadn't really processed most of what he said.

But—

He spoke with such confidence—

It sounded somewhat convincing.

Still—

There was no way she believed her actions were worth one hundred million.

But she couldn't come up with a proper rebuttal either.

Now—

Hearing his last question—

And sensing there was more to come—

She grew even more nervous.

"Um… it tasted good?"

"That candy carried my classmate's heartfelt feelings."

Hikari Aoi continued solemnly.

"It represented pure friendship."

"Maybe even love."

"If she asks me how it tasted, and I give a dry answer like yours—"

"She'll be disappointed."

"A relationship will be destroyed just like that."

"So not only do you owe me one hundred million—"

"You also owe me a relationship."
