I wrote a letter to Aiden after such a long time. However, I didn’t apologize for not knowing about his circumstances, nor did I offer comfort for the hard times he’d endured overseas.

Avoiding hearing what he had to say was a clear mistake of mine, but I felt it wasn't my fault for not knowing undisclosed information.

Hence, I found no reason to apologize to him.

The letter I sent to Aiden was short and simple:

[When you return to Erhaden, let's play chess.]

‘Right. Just like the night before you left. To relive those countless nights we had to let go.’

I had conveyed to Aiden that things couldn’t be the same as before, but it didn't mean he was no longer my friend. Honestly, it did feel like we had grown apart quite far.

However, after reading his letter, I felt like I couldn’t push him away anymore.

I no longer expected Aiden to remain by my side, so I felt a bit less burdened anyway. That much was fine.
