It had been three long months since I last set foot in the First Prince's Palace, and yet, today, it seemed to emanate an even more somber atmosphere than before. Instinctively, I drew my body in and firmly clutched onto William's hand.
'No negative thoughts. Frederick just wanted a sudden chat, a bit of company. That's all it is. No deeper reasons.'

As I ascended the staircase and reached Frederick's bedroom, Julianne, who had been stationed outside the door, approached me. Her emerald eyes held clear concern.
‘Don’t look at me like that. You’re practically confirming my fears.’
I let go of William's hand and stared up at Julianne.
"Let's go. His Highness is waiting."
She gently took my hand and whispered softly. Following Julianne's lead, I proceeded with measured steps into the bedroom.
Besides the guard who stood watch over him, there was no one else in Frederick's room.
