Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Demon’s Friend

The woman looked around, her eyes landing on the blood smeared across the floor. Her face darkened instantly.

"If you're going to try to kill yourself, at least don't do it in my house," she said coldly.

[What an ugly woman…] Nedo thought, unfazed. "Here. This is what you need." He handed her the money.

"Good. Remember what I said," she replied, her tone sharp.

Later, Nedo went to the hospital to check himself. Everything was fine — nothing life-threatening. But he didn't care. Life or death was meaningless to him. All he wanted was an answer to the question that haunted him: why even exist?

His phone buzzed endlessly — calls, messages, notifications — but he ignored them all. He sat in a quiet coffee shop, sipping coffee, lost in thought.

When he left, he wandered to the beach. No one was around. He screamed at the sky, letting out everything he felt:

"Fucking all of you! You damn idiots!"

For a moment, he felt relief… until a soft chuckle reached his ears.

"You're a funny guy," a voice said. A girl, beautiful and around his age, was standing on a hill overlooking him.

[Dammit… the hill again. But her beauty won't affect me.] Nedo thought, and he ignored her.

His phone buzzed with a notification — his favorite game had a new update. A small smile appeared on his face. He settled under the shade of a tree and opened the game. For a while, he could forget everything else. The world, the chaos, the stupidity — it all melted away into pixels.

The girl approached. "Hey…" she said, trying to get his attention.

He didn't answer.

She glanced at his phone, speaking again, but her words didn't reach him. A sharp pain pulsed in his head, and suddenly, the world around him crumbled.

When he opened his eyes, he saw something impossible. Had he… died?

A demon's smile spread across a face that was far too human to be real. "Now I have an interesting friend in this lonely world," it said.

"That's not fun," Nedo replied, his voice flat.

"Oh, don't be like that, my dear friend," the demon purred. "I'll make you regret ever saying that to me."
