The next morning, even just from the sound of birds tweeting outside my window, I could tell that the world has recovered from the storm from the day before—and just like that, I too felt fresh and new; cleansed, rejuvenated, and reset.
"Good morning," Senne said to me first as I sat up on my bed and stretched my back and arms. She was looking out of the window again, as she always did, and seemed to have found something rather amusing.
"Good morning, what's up?"
"There is a car parked outside our house."
"Must be the neighbor. It's annoying but it's not like we need to reserve the space for ourselves—we don't have a car."
"I saw your mom get out of it."
"Huh?"
"With another man."
"Huh?!"
"And they came into our house together."
"No, don't tell me—"
"It sounds like they are downstairs."
"Fuck."
"Why?" Senne asked me.
"It's usually a bad sign. God, I don't feel like going downstairs now."
"How about my toast then?" Senne asked, finally concerned.
