Chapter 43 - Collision

My scream was still lingering in the air, my heart about to burst as I was helplessly watching my little brother—

The broken tree chunk stopped mid-air, as if gripped by a force that was stronger than the storm. 

Brian finally noticed it and flinched, stumbling and almost falling, as he saw the debris that was certain to kill him suspended just—at most—two feet away from his head. 

Still in shock, but regaining his senses, he slowly backed away to safety, then ran straight toward our home. 

But before I could even feel relieved, I noticed that my room was brightly lit, and when I turned to my side, I saw Senne's black flame burning in bright white, almost like a burning strip of magnesium they showed us in school chemistry class. 

"Senne…?"

She remained still, looking focused. I looked outside again where the tree chunk was. It was still held in the air. It was the only thing in the entire neighborhood shaking under the storm that stood perfectly still.
