Chapter 2 - chapter 2

Aurora nodded.

But—

Something changed.

The wind stopped.

The waves froze mid-motion.

Even the fragments of space… became still.

Noctis's eyes narrowed.

"…A Demi-God."

Aurora's face lost all color.

Before them—

A man appeared.

No magic aura.

No overwhelming presence.

Just a man in a simple suit… walking on air as if it were solid ground.

And that made him infinitely more terrifying.

Aurora's voice trembled.

"Noctis…"

He didn't respond immediately.

"…Aurora," he said quietly.

She looked at him.

"I've always loved you."

Her eyes widened.

"Noctis… what are you—"

"I'm going to buy you time."

"No!" she screamed. "You promised—we promised—!"

"I know," he said, smiling faintly. "But this is the only way."

Tears streamed down her face.

"What about our child?!"

Noctis hesitated.

Then whispered—

"Tell him… his father was a selfish man."

Before she could react—

A portal opened behind her.

A forest.

Safe.

Far away.

"Noctis—!"

He pushed her through.

Threw his ring after her.

And closed the portal.

Their eyes met one last time.

"I love you."

Then—

She was gone.

The suited man finally spoke.

"You're done?"

Noctis turned.

"Who are you?"

"You don't need to know."

The man raised his hand slightly.

Instantly—

Noctis dropped to one knee.

The air became crushingly heavy.

His magic stopped flowing.

"You're coming with me."

Noctis laughed.

The man frowned.

"What's funny?"

"You think… you've already won."

A dark aura erupted.

"Forbidden Shadow Spell: Eclipse of the Nine Hells."

Darkness consumed everything.

Not shadow.

Not night.

But the complete erasure of light as a concept.

The Demi-God stiffened.

His connection to light magic—gone.

"…Impossible."

Shadows rose like living entities, clawing at him from every direction.

He countered immediately.

"Demi-God Ice Spell: Celestial Zero-Impact."

A rift opened above.

An asteroid of ancient ice descended—draining heat from the world itself.

But—

"Forbidden Spell: Event Horizon Collapse."

A singularity formed.

Pulled.

Crushed.

Destroyed the meteor before impact.

Noctis coughed blood.

But smiled.

"Let's see… how long you last."

What followed—

Was not a battle.

It was annihilation.

Spell after spell collided.

Reality fractured.

The sea evaporated.

The sky tore open.

And finally—

Noctis burned everything he had left.

His life.

His soul.

His existence.

"Forbidden Spells: Abyssal Collapse… and The Singularity Core."

The world collapsed inward.

The Demi-God screamed.

Begged.

Too late.

Everything—

Was erased.

Silence.

Noctis stood alone.

His body breaking.

His vision fading.

"…Aurora… you made it…"

Darkness consumed him.

And the world became a dead zone.

Fifteen minutes later—

Five figures appeared.

They looked upon the devastation.

"…This will take centuries to heal."

"…The shadow here is overwhelming."

"…No elemental energy remains…"

One spoke calmly.

"This was beyond Demi-God."

Another nodded.

"…Inform the Holy Church."

They vanished.

And the ruined ocean remained—

A scar upon the world.

The ocean no longer breathed.

Where waves once rose and fell with gentle rhythm, there now lay a vast, unnatural stillness—a graveyard carved into existence itself. The water had not merely been disturbed; it had been erased, replaced by a hollow basin of fractured space, ash-grey residue, and a suffocating silence that pressed against reality.

At the center of it all—

Darkness lingered.

Not the absence of light, but something heavier. Something that remained, even after the magic that birthed it had long since faded.

A Dead Zone.

No wind moved.

No sound traveled.

Even time itself seemed reluctant to pass through.

The aftermath of Noctis's final sacrifice had not simply destroyed his enemies—

It had rewritten the laws of the battlefield.

A Rift That Should Not Exist

Deep within the ruined expanse, the air trembled faintly.

Then—

Crack.

A thin fracture appeared in the void itself, like glass under pressure. It pulsed faintly, emitting a dim, unstable glow that flickered between existence and nothingness.

Crack.

Another followed.

Then another.

Until—

Shatter.

A hand emerged.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

It pushed through the fractured space, fingers trembling—not with weakness, but with resistance, as if the world itself was rejecting its presence.

Moments later, a figure stepped out.

The suited man.

Or rather—

What remained of him.

His once pristine appearance was gone. His body was partially eroded, sections of his arm flickering like broken fragments of reality. His eyes, once calm and detached, were now filled with something unfamiliar.

Fear.

"…Impossible…" he whispered hoarsely.

His voice barely existed.

Even speaking here required effort.

He looked around.

The Dead Zone reacted.

The moment his aura spread—

The darkness moved.

It resisted him.

Like a living thing rejecting a foreign invader.

The man's expression darkened.

"…So even after death… you resist me?"

His gaze slowly turned toward the center.

Toward the place where everything had ended.

Where Noctis had stood.

"…You monster."

The suited man raised his hand weakly.

Light flickered.

Faded.

Then stabilized—barely.

"Reconstruction Spell… Memory Trace…"

A faint projection formed in the air.

Fragments of the battle.

Moments frozen in time.

He watched.

Silently.

Carefully.

Then—

His eyes widened.

"…That wasn't just a sacrifice."

His breathing grew uneven.

"…He didn't just destroy the battlefield…"

The projection zoomed in—

To the moment of casting.

To the final convergence of forbidden spells.

To something hidden beneath them.

A pattern.

A structure.

A seal.

"…You weren't trying to kill me…"

His voice dropped.

"…You were trying to trap me."

The realization hit him like a blow.

Everything Noctis had done—

Every spell.

Every movement.

Every drop of blood burned—

Had led to this.

A prison.

A cage made of annihilation itself.

The suited man let out a low, hollow laugh.

"…You insane bastard…"

He clenched his hand.

The projection shattered.

"…You chose death… just to bury me here."

Far away—

Beyond the Dead Zone—

Beyond the broken horizon—

Something shifted.

A faint ripple.

Subtle.

Almost imperceptible.

But real.

In the vast sky above the ruined ocean, a tiny point of darkness flickered briefly—

Then vanished.

Elsewhere…

Deep within a forest, far removed from the destruction—

A portal shattered into fragments of fading light.

Aurora collapsed onto the ground.

Her body trembled violently, her breathing uneven as reality rushed back around her.

"…Noctis…"

Her voice broke.

The baby in her arms stirred softly, unaware of the weight of what had just been lost.

Tears streamed endlessly down her face.

She tried to stand—

Failed.

Tried again—

And fell to her knees.

"…You idiot…"

Her grip tightened around the child.

"…You selfish, stupid… idiot…"

But her voice held no anger.

Only grief.

Only love.

The forest around her was calm.

Peaceful.

Cruelly so.

Birds chirped.

Leaves swayed.

Life continued.

As if nothing had happened.

As if a world had not just been destroyed.

Aurora lowered her head, pressing her forehead gently against the child's.

"…You have to live," she whispered.

"…For him."

Her eyes slowly hardened.

Not with hatred.

But with resolve.

"…I won't let your sacrifice be meaningless."

Back to the Dead Zone

The suited man stood still.

Thinking.

Calculating.

"…A prison that suppresses magic… devours energy… and rejects external interference…"

He exhaled slowly.

"…Impressive."

Then—

He smiled.

"…But not perfect."

He raised his hand once more.

This time—

Something different emerged.

Not light.

Not ice.

But something deeper.

Something older.

"…You forced my hand."

The air cracked.

Even the Dead Zone reacted violently.

"…Law of Existence…"

His voice echoed unnaturally.

"…Authority: Separation."

The space around him split.

Not torn.

Not broken.

But divided.

"…If I cannot destroy the prison…"

His eyes glowed faintly.

"…I will simply step outside its definition."

The darkness surged violently—

Trying to suppress him.

To consume him.

To erase him.

But—

For the first time—

It failed.

A thin outline formed around his body.

Separating him from the world.

"…Let's see, Noctis…"

He took a step forward.

Reality resisted.

But gave way.

"…
