Charlie looks through the small collection of videos they have in the Hotel with Vaggie, asking "What do we even have that's safe for literal kids to watch?!"
Vaggie just shrugs, not having the faintest idea - she's never been around actual children before, Adam not included in that as he was a grown man literally his entire existence. After a moment, the Fallen Angel says "We could ask Calli if she's got any ideas."
Five minutes and one question later, Calli's frowning thoughtfully before saying "I've got a decent collection at one of my properties up on Earth. C'mon, let's see what I've got. What'll appeal to everyone here…that rules Disney out, I guess." Nobody here signed up for the hotel to be unofficial parents - except, perhaps, Alastor, if you look at it the right way - and she's fairly certain a marathon of singing Disney Princesses won't appeal to anyone.
Not even the sixteen militarized children they have in the hotel.
Charlie stares at Calli in utter shock, asking "You…just have somewhere up on Earth?"
Calli nods, saying "Quite a few places, actually. For when Fate has me go up there and get neck-deep in chaos. Relax, though, they're all heavily-Warded and in the middle of nowhere so everyone can head over. Point of fact, I originally planned them to be vacation homes for the three of us - four, after you were born, Charlie." She'd needed to figure out how to break Sera's magic on Lucifer, keeping him trapped in Hell forever, but she sincerely wanted to be able to surprise him immediately with a however-long-he-wanted trip to whichever of the eighteen properties she picked out - not stole, considering it was always long before anyone else ever came to the area! - Warded, and decorated.
The one she's thinking of is a large cabin hidden away on a mountain in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest - fantastic view, sitting high up on the mountain so she and Lucifer could fly over the trees unimpeded, and set right next to a lake that formed from the river that flows down from higher up on the mountain. She may have set a Ward to attract Ducks to the lake, to - it may have been the first place she'd have suggested for Lucifer, in different circumstances.
Lucifer and his brothers walk over right then, Lucifer asking "Something up?"
Calli shakes her head, saying "Just trying to decide what would be a good pick for movie night tonight." Leaning over to see a group of Sinners nearby, she calls out "Who's up for the Hobbit? Extended version!"
"Oh, heck yes!"
"Awesome, I only got to see the regular ones!"
"I only read the books, YES!!"
There's a chorus of further agreements, some Sinners seeming to come out of the woodworks altogether at the prospect of the Hobbit, and Calli murmurs "Hobbit it is. C'mon, I'll grab the movies and get a giant slab of crystal to view them with."
"Uh," Gabriel says, looking completely lost, "come again? What now?"
"I Enchanted an old DVD player ages ago to show whatever movie is currently in the thing on a giant slab of crystal. Modern-day technology explodes around me, and if I try to enlarge the tv the hotel has…well, it's more than likely that it'll either blow up or come to life or something. So, slab of magic-safe crystal it is! Just think of it as a giant movie screen inside the hotel."
Raphael slowly nods, just deciding to roll with it, and Lucifer says "Makes sense. So, where are we headed? Some movie store in the city?"
Calli pauses halfway through opening a portal, and says "No…I was thinking one of my places. I've already got the movie set, and can just grab the dvd player and crystal slab there as well."
Lucifer blinks uncomprehendingly, looking for all the world like his brain simply stopped processing things, and eventually says "I know you told Sera you broke her magic keeping me here, but…" But, every single time he ever tried making a portal to go back to Earth, there was some kind of invisible barrier that wouldn't let him pass no matter how hard he tried. Same with Calli's portals, he was literally trapped in Hell thanks to Sera.
Putting one hand on Lucifer's shoulder, Calli softly says "Luce, it was real, I promise you. I would never make that up, especially not when you were right there."
Lucifer nods, taking a deep, shuddering breath even as his hand grips hers tightly - Calli's never gotten his hopes up only to crush them, so he's got to trust that she at least believes it'll work this time. He's not believing it until he sees it, though. Call it force of habit.
Calli finishes opening the portal, and everyone else glances into it to see…dark brown wooden floors - Maple or Walnut, likely, given the actual color - with deep blue walls in contrast. It opens up into a hallway, though, so that's as much as anyone can see. Calli squeezes Lucifer's hand for a moment after glancing at his expression, then says "Just try, Luce. Please?"
Lucifer nods, his hesitation having drawn a small crowd including Angel, his siblings, Alastor, his mother, and a number of other Sinners, and reaches his free hand towards the portal. Another moment's hesitation, before he moves forward and hits…empty air.
Upon noticing the way Lucifer's eyes widen in utter shock, Molly asks "What's wrong? Never gone through a portal before?"
Lucifer numbly says "Not out of Hell." Testing the portal again, afraid it'll suddenly bar him access just like all the other times, Lucifer adds "When Sera passed her judgement, she used her powers to make it so I could never leave Hell no matter what I tried. Portals, Materializing somewhere else, flying…anything."
Calli pulls a shell-shocked Lucifer through the portal, heading to the door and opening it up to reveal a massive set of windows overlooking a forest. Lucifer just stares out the window for several long moments, almost unable to believe his eyes - it's so green, he'd honestly almost forgotten what the color looked like other than Calli's eyes and magic.
It's so vibrant, so alive...
It's…it's absolutely beautiful.
Calli squeezes his hand, and murmurs "Welcome back, Luci."
Lucifer swallows, trying to fight back the lump in his throat and burning in his eyes - if he says anything, he'll probably burst into tears altogether.
Charlie and Raphael both wrap their arms around him at that point, Gabriel squeezing in as well after about two seconds of trying to find a good spot to do so as Calli slips out before getting crushed between people, and Angel clears his throat before asking "So, uh, where are these movies, Calli? Also, what's with the light up there?"
Calli huffs, trying not to laugh altogether, and says "The lights in all my properties are crystals I Enchanted, and I turn them on and off via my magic. Yes, the whole house is like that - either it's Shielded to be able to function around my magic, or I replaced it altogether." Glancing at Lucifer's expression, she says "If you want to go outside, there's a small lake around back. I think you'll like it." She then presses a very large bag of Sunflower seeds into Gabriel's hands with a pointed look.
Alastor glances around as the three Archangels disappear, and says "This is certainly cozy…" He likes it. While he's not particularly a fan of blue, he can't deny the entire setup looks good. Plus, it's not Vox's obnoxious contrast of electric blue on darker blue, so that definitely helps.
Michael nods silently, looking around as he does - this place isn't like her old cottage, that was light and airy, with cream-colored walls and light wood flooring, but the place feels warm and cozy. It's different, but...compared to Heaven, with the cold gold everywhere, this place seems wonderful.
Alicia hums, saying "Calliope certainly knows how to decorate a home well."
Calli shrugs, walking closer as she does, and says "You get the hang of it after the first dozen places or so. Michael, you up for carrying a giant slab of crystal? I can't use magic on it too much, it could mess with the Enchantments on it." She then grabs a small device - likely the dvd player - and then heads to a nearby shelf filled to the brim with hundreds of movies - she calls that a 'decent' collection?! - and starts searching. A solid minute later, she pulls out the three movies and turns around to see…Raphael, Gabriel, and Lucifer are gone - thankfully, the Wards have them at the Duck Lake.
Showing Michael the giant slab of crystal she has ready for a massive movie night, she opens a portal to the lobby and says "I'll get Luci, Raphael, and Gabriel and meet you there."
Michael nods, heading through the portal with most everyone else - the four of them will get back, he's sure of it. If there was only one thing he's learned during his time at the Hotel, it's that Calli protects her family, no matter who that family is.
Calli finds Lucifer surrounded by about ten ducks, all of them happily eating seed piles from his hands even as he cries - clearly, he gave up on not crying as soon as he saw the ducks. He always did love ducks, thought they were the best creature to ever walk the face of the Earth.
Sitting down next to Lucifer, the ducks all adjusting their positions around them, she quietly says "I can bring you back, Luci. Time and again. Nobody else knows about this place, you know."
Instead of answering, Lucifer whirls around and throws both arms around her, burying his face in her hair and crying some more. Raphael follows a moment later, much to Calli's surprise.
Calli glances at the second head of blonde hair, then at Gabriel for a moment, silently wondering what just happened. Lucifer hugs her all the time, has for almost as long as they've known each other. Raphael's hugged her once, all total - twice, now.
And then, Calli gets a sudden suspicion - Gabriel's not going to-
Gabriel's weight hitting the group hug next to Lucifer confirms that thought of hers, yes he is going to hug her out of the blue as well. Raphael's voice whispers a thank you into her ear, Gabriel squeezing the three of them tightly enough that it's slightly uncomfortable…all that's missing is Michael picking all four of them up from behind for her to be well and truly stuck in this with no subtle means of escape. While she generally wouldn't look for an escape, knowing there's one available helps
They just stay like that until Lucifer stops crying, just sitting like that surrounded by curious, hungry ducks looking for Sunflower seeds for a solid five minutes.
Eventually, once Lucifer stops crying, Calli opens up a portal back to the lobby - thankfully, nobody comments on Lucifer's tear-stained face. Also thankfully, they're getting the lobby set up for a massive movie night, dozens of extra couches and seats created by Alastor, several soft blankets spread out around the floor, and the unmistakable scent of popcorn filtering in from the kitchen.
Once everyone's ready to start the movies, Calli having Stuck the crystal to the wall and set up the dvd player and spells, the rest of the day passes fairly smoothly, everybody either sitting together or on the floor and getting immersed in the story.
Nobody's brave enough to comment on Emily sitting on the floor directly in front of the seat Calli and Alastor are in, though - they all like living, after all!
By the time the third movie is halfway through, pretty much everyone bar a few are sound asleep. To Gabriel and Michael's half-shock, half-amusement, Calli and Alastor are part of that group, both dead to the world - Calli curled up to Alastor's side and Alastor's arm draped over her shoulders with his chin resting on top of her head.
And Emily out cold, leaning on their legs.
Michael blinks a few times at the sight, then mutters "Their backs are going to be killing them…" Because he doesn't know anybody brave enough or stupid enough to wake the two of them up - they all still remember the night they called Calli about twenty times, and she was pissed at being woken up.
He doesn't know anybody suicidal enough to try waking Emily and risk waking her parents up, either.
