Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: First Rival

The room was still after the first mission. Silence pressed on everyone like a heavy weight.

Veyrix Noctar stood in the center, calm, expressionless, as if nothing had happened.

Suddenly, a new participant stepped forward.

Tall. Broad-shouldered. Eyes sharp like knives.

"Name's Drax Veylor," he said, smirking.

"You think you can just stroll in here and play God?"

Veyrix tilted his head slightly. No fear. No anger. Just observation.

Interesting…

Drax advanced, his movements confident, aggressive.

"System says destroy ego, right? I'll destroy yours first."

He lunged.

Veyrix sidestepped effortlessly.

CRACK. Drax hit the wall. Pain flashed across his face.

The other participants gasped.

Veyrix spoke quietly, almost too calm:

"Your confidence is fragile. That's your weakness."

Drax's smirk faltered. "Fragile? You'll regret underestimating me!"

He charged again. Faster this time.

Veyrix simply waited.

He studied Drax's stance, his breathing, his hesitation—tiny cracks no one else could see.

And then he spoke, cold, sharp:

"You fight to be seen, not to win."

Drax froze. Just for a second.

That's all Veyrix needed.

With a single step forward, Veyrix reached out—not to strike, but to break Drax's mind.

"Your ego… it's empty. You believe you are strong because everyone fears you. But fear is not respect. Fear is weakness."

Drax's eyes widened.

"You… you can't—"

"Yes," Veyrix interrupted.

"You can't hide from your own doubt."

The screen above flickered:

EGO STATUS: UNSTABLE

Drax staggered, confusion and panic washing over him.

Veyrix's voice dropped to a whisper:

"Admit it. You are scared."

EGO STATUS: CRITICAL

Drax fell to his knees, his confident posture shattered.

He had never faced someone like this.

Veyrix stood over him. Calm. Unshakable.

"Ego is not about power," he said.

"It's about control. Control over yourself… and control over others."

The other participants watched in silence, fear and awe mixing.

Veyrix had not moved a muscle.

Yet he had won.

So begins the real game.

Veyrix Noctar wasn't just surviving.

He was teaching. Breaking. Rising.
