The green signal came two minutes early.
Lio Brant drove the maintenance train with his left elbow and three good fingers.
The depot schedule hung from a clip beside him. Gannet Service should have stayed red until a drainage crew cleared the platform.
Green light shone through rain at the tunnel mouth.

"She owns nothing," Lio answered. "The order has the signal."
He left the throttle low.
Water covered the rails inside Gannet Service. The engine pushed a brown wave ahead of it. Old advertisements peeled from the platform walls, faces stretched by damp paper.
Elara stood beneath the only working lamp.
Six Defense Force officers waited behind her. White support bands showed at their wrists.
Elara's black control strip ran from throat to hand.
Her field order filled Davi's camera before her face did.
