Caleb asked Kim to set it up the morning after the basement.

"I held the silver steady yesterday and I felt the eleven reach back. He's the only one who's on the far side of that and still talking. I need to know what I felt."
[Hacker]: He is hard to move. He is the size of a man made of slate, he is hunted, and he does not fit in a car. But he has wanted to talk to you for a while. I will arrange it.
[Hacker]: Tonight. You go alone. You do not tell your father. Marcus has feelings about Theo that would get in the way, and Theo knows it, and it hurts him, so we keep it simple.

The place was a shuttered cold-storage warehouse two sectors east, a building the city forgot to demolish. Kim's people had the block. Caleb went in through a loading door that someone had left unlocked for him.
Theo was waiting in the dark at the back, where the freezers used to run.
