Chapter 77 - || CHAPTER 77:A Bond Which Isn't Love ||

Lucan's grin faded as he said, "Umm... I guess we all make mistakes, so forgive me! Please!"

But the golden butterfly was not ready to listen and started tickling him to death.

Lucan laughed, "Hahaha, stop! Stop it! Ah, please forgive me!"

The Fate guy smirked, "Yes, do it more, hehe! Let me have some fun for a change!"

Lucan grinned, "Thought that would work on me? Remember, the same trick never works on me twice!" He suddenly stopped laughing.

The Fate guy's mouth fell wide open. "What the heck? How is this even possible?"

Lucan laughed, "Hehe! Let's see if this trick works!"

The golden butterfly grew even angrier and turned silver.

Lucan's pupils shrank to the size of needles as he spoke, "Alright! I give up, please don't do that!"

The Fate guy asked, "What do you mean? Can't your trick defend against the tickles?"

Lucan replied, "This trick only tricks you. I actually held in my laughter by freezing time for myself at that exact instant. But I never imagined it wouldn't work on the silver butterfly!"

The silver butterfly flew down and landed on his feet, while the rest distributed themselves across every other tickle zone.

And then... even fate couldn't rewrite Lucan's situation.

After a few hours, Lucan fell down exhausted. "Noted. Never mess with the golden butterfly, even for fun!"

The Fate guy laughed, "Haha! You deserved that, you idiot—"

The golden butterfly frowned and turned silver.

The Fate guy fell at Lucan's feet. "Forgive me, or it is going to kill me! I was just trying to insult you!"

Lucan grinned, "Golden Butterfly! This guy will harm me—"

Before he could finish, the silver butterfly pierced through the Fate guy's chest and flew out the other side.

Lucan was dumbstruck. "What? I just... said it for fun! I didn't really mean it!"

The Fate guy screamed in pain, "Damn it! What did I do?"

Lucan frowned, "Isn't this a little too much?"

The silver butterfly on his armor shook its head as it showed him a strange block. It was covered in blood—the Fate guy's blood.

Lucan asked, "What is this?" He rolled it over in his hand, observing it thoroughly.

The Fate guy gasped, "Thank you for saving my life! It is that sage's work—he literally hid it inside my heart sneakily!"

Lucan wondered, "What? This tiny thing can cause harm?"

The Fate guy replied, "It is used to slowly possess the body of the—"

"Victim?" Lucan asked.

"Exactly incorrect! It would kill the host victim to possess the closest person nearby! Which means it would kill me and possess you!" the Fate guy said.

Lucan's eyes widened as his gaze shifted past the block.

The Fate guy patted him. "Don't fear! Now that it's been taken out, it can't harm us!"

Lucan grinned, "Who cares about that? This is super interesting! Wow, how much space tech does this solar system actually have? I want to see it all to the fullest extent! This is fun and amazing! Hahaha!"

The Fate guy sighed, "You really are a total psycho! Damn it, how can you be so inhumane when you are a human?"

Lucan grinned, "To reach my goal, I would sacrifice anything! Even my own humanity, if it's worth it! Hehe!"

The Fate guy realized right then that this person was someone you should never mess with, just like the Lord.

He thought to himself, 'The Lord and Lucan... two dangers you should never cross. Both are too young and naive, yet both are fiercely ambitious! They seek their goals more than anything else. In that regard, they are the most pragmatic people I have ever seen in my life. I could never argue against that.'

Lucan said, "Fate guy, pilot the spaceship to this location! And don't ask me any questions until we get there!"

The Fate guy took a quick look and replied, "Alright, but we need to repair our spaceship first! Remember, the space station wrecked it pretty badly. Luckily, the golden butterflies patched it up well enough, but we still need to stop by the nearest planet to get it properly repaired!"

Lucan countered, "Hmm, no need for that. Both of us will do it ourselves. We can't trust outsiders! Remember, we have the golden butterflies!"

The Fate guy replied, "Ah! Yes, how did I forget such an important detail? Haha! So, do you know how to repair a spaceship? Hehe, I know that with a brain like yours, anything is possible!"

Lucan smiled bitterly. "Actually, I don't know how to repair it. Its mechanics are completely different from the ones I studied on Earth. Moreover... I forgot those too!"

The Fate guy thought again, 'Maybe this guy is all bark and no bite? Huh! Now what are we supposed to do?'

Suddenly, the golden butterfly on Lucan's armor transported them both into the white room. There, they saw the same paper and golden pen.

Words began to appear on the paper in a glowing, golden-yellow light:

'I can answer any question of yours! Lucan, for you, it is unlimited! And Fate guy, for you... hmm, let's say ten.'

Lucan grinned at the Fate guy. "Wanna go ahead?"

The Fate guy snorted, "Hmph! Couples always give priority to their partners! So—"

Before he could even finish his sentence, he found himself kicked out of the white room. He was now facing the silver butterfly on one side and a homicidal Lucan on the other. Both of them stared at him simultaneously with pure killing intent.

The Fate guy quickly stammered, "Huh, April Fools! Lucan, remember you taught me about it way back? Today is April 1st on your planet!"

Lucan checked the date, and it was indeed April 1st. He said, "Oh, damn it! I fell for it again. Golden butterfly, let him go. It's actually April Fools' Day!"

The silver butterfly turned back into a golden butterfly and brought them both back into the white room.

The Fate guy thought, 'Alright, my worst enemy is my own mouth. If I just stay quiet, my life will be a lot easier.'

Lucan's gaze was locked onto the Fate guy. "Try that again, and I will show no mercy! Get it?"

The Fate guy noticed Lucan's cheeks flushing. He asked, "Lucan, are you blushing?"

Lucan shook his head quickly. "Ah, it's a fever, I guess, hehe! Ignore it!"

The Fate guy nodded. "Alright, so you ask your questions first!"

Lucan took the pen and started writing on the paper. He wrote down his first question and hid it behind his arms.

He teased, "Hehe! Guess what my first question is! Both of you have three chances to get it right!"

The Fate guy looked behind himself and asked, "Me?"

Lucan sighed, "What do you mean, 'Me?' You and the golden butterfly are the only two entities here! Who else would I be talking to? Ah! Damn you, because of you, I lost my calm and composed nature! Idiot!"

The Fate guy smirked, "I like this side of you way more, you know!"

Lucan grinned coldly, "Playtime is over. Just guess it and get back to your tasks. I didn't come here to play and have fun. Do not make me repeat myself." His voice was freezing this time, betraying his deep unease.

The Fate guy went silent and began guessing randomly. Within moments, all three of his turns were over, and he hadn't made a single correct guess.

Next, it was the golden butterfly's turn. Letters began to appear one by one on the paper before them. Both Lucan and the Fate guy fixed their attention on the script.

Lucan thought, 'Golden Butterfly... if you can guess it correctly, hehe, you can definitely give me the answer too!'

The text read: 'What is at the end of space?'

Lucan's eyes shone as he read it aloud. The question brought back a childhood memory from long ago—where his entire journey had started. He remembered the laughter, the disapproval, the mockery, and the insults he had faced. They were far more painful than any physical injury or suffering he had ever endured.

He smiled gently. "Fate guy, did you read the full text?"

The Fate guy replied, "Yes, it's about the end of space, right?"

Lucan sighed, "Look at the bottom. I said the entire text!"

The Fate guy read the rest of the message, and a grin spread across his face as well. The paper added:

'And... Lucan, don't worry or give up! No matter who stands against you, remember I am here for you!'

Lucan patted his shoulder. "That's why I said we aren't a couple, dude! Hehe, get it?"

The Fate guy nodded his head. "Yeah. This isn't love. It's something else... something I can't quite put into words."
