Arsheus
Getting Rin to drop the bottle he was drowning in was hard work, but once he let go of it I was finally able to drag him out of the bar and into the streets.
My head hurt just imagining how much he'd groan and moan when I put him on my room, taking over my bed. I wasn't going to bring him back to his room. I didn't know what the fuck was going on with Allea now, but I was sure that getting those two together was either a great idea or an awful one and I wasn't willing to have them have another meltdown.
" Are you okay?"
Rin didn't answer to my question as he held onto his bottle, the liquid dripping into the streets as we walked over to our room, which was going to be just my room with Rin on my bed while I was thrown into a blanket on the floor.
" Give me that" I went to grab the bottle on Rin's hands, but he pulled it away with a groan.
" That's mine" His words were slurry as his eyes focused on the bottle as his hands took it to his face, his lips parting slightly to let the liquid enter.
" Come on, that's enough"
It broke my heart seeing Rin like that. He was usually strong and didn't fear anything. He was the one to keep a level head most of the time even when he loved to mess with me and tease me he had always been by my side, specially when things got tough. I was going to be by his side too, and that meant taking the fucking alcohol away from him.
" No" Rin pushed me away and stumbled, falling to the floor with a thud, the bottle rolling away from him, it's contents spilled all over the street.
Rin didn't seem to notice as he laid on the floor, his eyes closed.
He was really drunk.
Fuck, this was going to be hard.
I ran to his side and used my body as support to get him upright. While he groaned and used me to get up I tapped into my magic and begun healing him slowly, making the alcohol go away from his veins.
Rin didn't notice at first, at least not until we reached the castle and got past the guards.
He finally noticed when I reached my room, in the male quarters where all the male employees lived, and plopped him onto bed.
His eyes focused on me as his body took care of the little alcohol left on his blood.
As soon as it was gone he growled and burrowed his face on my pillow.
I smiled. I knew how he was feeling right now. I had taken the alcohol away from his blood, but not the headache. Right now he was probably having the worst headache of his life. I could heal it, but there was no fun in that and he needed to learn his lesson.
" What, does your head hurt?" I laced my words with sarcasm as I looked at him even though I knew I was also going to pay for that. He was taking my bed, so I'd have to sleep on the fucking floor. I'd slept in worst conditions, but I still didn't want to do it.
Rin glared at me and growled, turning his head to borrow it again on the pillow.
" Get some sleep" I took the covers and covered Rin's body, not leaving a single inch out of the blankets. I knew he liked the feel warm.
I went to pick my own to spread across the floor and sleep on them when I noticed they were all gone. They were on Rin's body. Fuck, I hadn't thought about that.
I looked at the floor and tried to lay on it. As soon as I did the coldness and hardness hit me.
Yes, no. I wasn't sleeping on the floor without some blankets. Now I just had to find them.
" I'll be back in a second" Rin didn't listen to me as I got up and walked to the door. All he did was groan and turn as if he was deadly hurt. I'd seen him way worse complaining way less. I guessed that was what alcohol did to you, that and Allea. Rin loved that woman and the way she had acted had sent him on edge. He was still on edge.
I had to stop thinking about it.
I sighed and transversed the corridors ignoring everything else that moved until I reached the female quarters.
The plan was to go to Ria's room, Allea was still pissy and I didn't want to go against her right now, and steal some of her blankets and even a pillow if possible. It would be better to just sleep with her and leave Rin to his own devices, but I felt bad doing that, specially now that he wasn't feeling well.
I reached Ria's room and knocked on the door.
I waited and waited, but Ria didn't come to open the door. As a matter of fact I didn't listen anything inside. It was as if the room was empty, but that wasn't possible. Where would Ria be if not in her room?
I knocked again and got ignored again.
I got that she was angry with me, I still didn't know why, but I could get that she didn't want to see me, but she could still open the door and see who it was.
I groaned and rubbed my temples. I could just go back to my room and lay on the hard, cold floor, but I didn't feel like it.
" Ria, let me in" I used my sweetest voice so as to not scare her.
She didn't answer me.
I begun fuming. She could at least try to see what was going on.
I knocked again and got ignored again.
I finally bursted when I didn't hear sounds coming from inside even when I screamed for her to open the door.
I used my magic to burst the door open and was faced with an empty room.
There hadn't been any noises because Ria hadn't been inside, but if she wasn't here then where was she?
I frowned and walked inside. Everything was just like how I'd left it when Allea had freaked out and ran away. The cards were still scattered all over the floor, no order. It was as if Ria hadn't been here since the accident, but then where was she?
The blankets I wanted were on the bed.
I eyed them and the cards.
I could fetch them and leave this problem for later on when Allea had calmed down and Rin wasn't feeling like shit, but something in my gut told me I had to go check.
I left the blankets where they were, planning to fetch them later when it all turned out to be my own paranoia and thought about everything.
Ria wasn't here and it seemed like she hadn't been for some hours now, but if she wasn't here where was she?
She didn't know anyone in the castle or the city and all the people she knew were in my room or me myself. She could've gone to the city to get drunk and forget like Rin had done, but if she had I would've seen her. That and she really didn't have any money on her to pay for the alcohol so that idea was out.
What was left then?
I looked at the discarded cards and thought about Allea. Maybe she had gone to her room and had managed to somehow calm her down. It was a very unlike idea, when Allea got pissed she stayed pissed for a while, but it was worth a shot. There was nothing else I could think of.
I followed the corridors to Allea's room, following the servants coming and going with their hands full, ready to work.
I kept my head down and kept walking to her room.
Near it I could see clusters of servants gathering and whispering as they pointed down the hall.
My heart begun racing and my tension spiked. I didn't like this one bit. Allea's room was right down that corridor. Why was everyone gathering there?
I didn't like it at all.
I walked up to one of the women whispering on the corridors and put on my most seductive smile as I regarded her. She was one of the ugliest angels I had ever seen but she seemed to know what was going on and that was what I wanted right now. I could pretend I was a gentleman if that was what got me the information I wanted.
" Do you know what's going on here?" I put on my most concerned voice, as if I was just out for a piece of gossip.
The woman's eyes sparkled as she leaned in, her fetid breath attacking me as soon as she reached my ear.
" Something lit on fire"
Was that it? Then why did everyone look so concerned? Fires could be put out fairly easily.
" Did someone get caught?" I pretended like I cared while I filed away the information, deciding it wasn't important and that I didn't care about it.
" No" The woman shook her head, a smile on her lips.
I nodded and moved to walk away. If that was all then I didn't need her anymore. She didn't have any kind of useful information for me. I would have to find Ria and get those blankets.
I barely pretended to listen to the woman as she leaned in and kept speaking, already thinking of a way to get out of here. I was out of it, but the moment I heard a key word I snapped back to attention.
" What did you just say?" My voice was deep and dark as I asked her, fully threatening her. The woman didn't seem to notice as she shone, pride in her eyes.
" The new maids were the ones to light it all on fire" She donned a smirk as she looked down on me. " They said one of them took the other one and ran away. I don't know where they are now, but they surely did a number on the room"
I gritted my teeth and pushed the woman away, running to Allea's room.
What she said couldn't be true, because if it was that meant that they had fought and lit their room of fire before one of them had dragged the other one.
Fear spread all over my body as I ran. I felt real fear as I forced my legs to move as fast as possible, pushing people out of my way when they gathered. The closer I got to their room the more angels were whispering and pointing.
I couldn't have cared less as I pushed my way forward. As I did all I could think about was Ria. She didn't even know how to fight properly and even thought she had her spirits no one had said anything about them so it was very likely that she hadn't used them and if she hadn't...
If she hadn't there was no way she could've won against Allea.
When I finally reached the room I paled. Everything that was left were ashes. There was nothing left.
I clenched my fists and ran away to my room.
I had to get Rin and then we would go look for Ria together. I knew that fire, those ashes. Allea had done that, which meant she had taken Ria. Normally I wouldn't have panicked, but I really didn't like the fact that she had done it just after she had freaked out.
I had to find her first. I would think about everything else later.
