The night air in the park was cold and still as Aziel stared down at the screen of Valeria's phone. His hands were rigid, his knuckles turning white as he held the device, reading the words of Martha Aldrith's letter over and over again. Valeria knelt in front of him, her breathing still shallow and uneven, tears glistening on her cheeks in the yellow light of the streetlamp. She breathed in deeply, breaking the silence between them. Her voice was quiet as she spoke.
"We need to find evidence," she said, her voice shaking slightly as she looked at him. There was no guarantee he would do it or even believe the letter, but where else could she search? "We have to prove that what Martha wrote in this letter is actually true. My grandfather... he has suffered too much because of this. He has carried this pain his whole life, thinking Edmund died in a random attack. We cannot allow him to continue carrying this pain without uncovering the truth."
