The tyres of the SUV squealed against the cold road as Aziel slammed his foot onto the accelerator, the engine roaring as the car shot forward out of the gravel turn-off. Up ahead, Irene's car was already fast-moving beyond the speed limit, weaving recklessly past fields and dense patches of trees. Aziel kept his hands locked onto the steering wheel, his knuckles white as his eyes stayed glued to the car in front. The sheer madness of what Irene had done burned in his chest as sickening anger clawed at his throat. He leaned forward over the wheel, his jaw tight as he furiously muttered under his breath, "She's completely lost her mind... she's entirely out of her head."
Beside him, Damien sat with one hand gripping the door handle as the car swayed around a sharp bend. He quietly listened to Aziel's angry grumbling, his jaw tightening until he finally couldn't hold his tongue a moment longer. He turned his head slowly to glare at Aziel, his eyes cold and completely unsparing.
