Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Night Parade of a Hundred Demons

He was scrolling through his phone not knowing it was the last ordinary thing he would ever do.

His name was Kenji Mori , a twenty three years old young man who worked a late shift at a convenience store in Shinjuku and was walking home the same route he always took wearing headphones and holding a phone loosely in one hand.

The comfortable autopilot of routine carried him forward towards his usual destination until a disturbing loud sound stopped him.

It came from the alley to his left.

The unmistakable sound of something eating without the slightest concern for being heard.

Kenji slowly came to abrupt halt.

His stomach tightened inexplicably as a horrifying sense of dread started to bloom in his heart.

He told himself it was a stray dog.

That he should just look away like always. Not even when his colleagues faced unfair treatment from the store manager had he dared to stand up like a hero.

Yet this time for some reason he let his curiosity take hold of him for the last time in his life.

The thing in the alley was not a dog nor was it a human .

It had once been a normal man.You could still see the silhouette of that beneath what it had become.

Something had taken the original blueprint and rewritten it with complete disregard for the original design.

It was too large.Too broad.

Its proportions were so wrong that the eyes instinctively searched for somewhere else to look.

Dark veins crawled beneath pale skin.

Its hands, each bearing too many fingers, were buried inside what had once been a woman in a business suit.

It was eating at her slowly. The uncomfortable wet sounds of flesh tearing apart and being eaten reached Kenji's ears who gasped loudly at the sight.

The creature lifted its head at the sounds of the unfortunate man's surprise.

Its eyes found Kenji with the calm certainty of something that had already decided it's next pray.

Kenji didn't need someone to tell him what to do next, he screamed with all his might then ran as fast as his legs would carry him.

He made it only four steps before something hit him from behind.

A single impact of enormous force that passed through him like hot knife through butter.

His upper half struck the pavement first followed soon by his lower half.

The two pieces slid to a stop nearly a meter apart.

His phone bounced once before landing screen-up in the gutter.

The video continued playing.

Silence washed over everyone present .

The scream that followed spread through Shinjuku like a tidal wave.

Not one scream.

Hundreds.

The sound of an entire district realizing the same terrible truth at the exact same moment.

People ran around in panic.Cars crashed into each other. And storefront windows shattered as terrified crowds pushed through them.

The monsters emerged from everywhere.

From alleyways.

From rooftops.

From maintenance tunnels beneath the city.

From storm drains and subway access points.

Places nobody thought about.

The creatures moved with terrifying coordination.they were mindless.they were feral. Yet they possessed purpose.

That was the truly horrifying part.

Tokyo was the first city to fall silent on the emergency channels.

The sheer scale of this terroristic attack proved to be too much .

New York followed six minutes later.

Osaka.

Paris.

São Paulo.

Nairobi.

Seoul.

Within thirty minutes, the global monitoring feeds inside Jujutsu High had gone from seventeen active channels to ten to four.

New York City

Avengers Tower took its first hit at 11:47 PM.

It wasn't a subtle hit by all means seeing as the top three floors were blown up. to make a statement.

Iron Man exploded into the night sky his repulsors blazing fiercely..

"FRIDAY, give me numbers."

"Estimated active hostiles entities in Manhattan: eight thousand and climbing."

"Fuck my life."Tony swore." I had enough dealing with aliens and mutants now zombies too."

A flesh projectile launched from street level below forcing him to move sideways letting it hit a building behind. The impact pierced through the reinforced concrete easily.

"Okay. That's new. Are they gaining new abilities?"

"Several subjects display regenerative properties similar to that of curses. They also seems to release sparks of cursed energy." FRIDAY informed him.

Tony fired a concentrated blast and frowned internally. "Where are those damned sorcerer when you need them."

One hybrid immediately began getting back up.

Tony stared utterly dumbfounded by the resilience of those abominations

"...Seriously?"

Three blocks away someone wasn't fairing any better.Captain America drove his shield into a hybrid's knee with enough force to shatter concrete.

The creature collapsed and fell down before rose once again. He had hit it tens of times.

Yet here it was still standing as if nothing happened.

"They won't go down no matter how hard I hit them" Steve reported frustrated.

"Tell me something I don't know" Tony mocked sarcastically.

A third voice joined the channel.

A Calm deep voice that was familiar especially for Tony stark m

"You need to disrupt the cursed energy sustaining them."

Steve blinked recognizing the person who was talking to them.

"And how exactly do I do that?"

"You probably can't.Fall back and focus on containment for now."

Steve glanced toward the creatures advancing on him.

"How did you gain access to this channel batman?"

"..." A brief pause filled with silence with the sole exception of Tony's rising blood work.

" I hacked it Captain."

The man's voice remained calm despite the chaos.

"That's not possible. I upgraded my equipment since last time."

"Is that what you think?"

Of course it was Batman.

The only man on Earth arrogant enough to hack an Avengers emergency channel during a global catastrophe.

The rivalry between Iron man and Batman started years ago where Bruce humiliated tony by hacking his suit and beating him up.

Ever since then the philanthropist held a deep grudge against this guy and clearly the resentment wasn't going to fade any time soon.

Metropolis

Clark Kent ditched his normal identity seconds after the first attack began.

Superman flew above the city looking over it like its guardian angel.

The scale hit him immediately.

Not just Metropolis but the whole world was at stake.Emergency frequencies spiked across all continents. All filled with terrified powerless humans.

This wasn't a normal attack. But an operation that would kill millons.

His jaw tightened as realization dawned on him in milliseconds.

He went to work almost instantly

The hybrids were strong for most people but Superman was way stronger and since they weren't humans he could afford to not hold back.

His heat vision carved through regenerative tissue faster than it could reform.

And minutes later, the central district was secured due to his speed.

Clark stopped to Look around.

Then beyond the city.

There were too many fires.

Too many cries for help.

Too many casualties.

As he prepared to head somewhere else a streak of blue cursed energy crossed the sky before stopping beside him.

Raising an eyebrow at the unexpected arrival, the Kryptonian couldn't help but wonder.

"Okkotsu Yuta? What are you doing here"

"Superman. I am here tracking the mastermind behind all of this"

The voice that greeted him was calm and focused.

"We need you mobile. Don't hold territory. Interrupt distribution . If we get rid of the factory you get rid of the products."

Clark stared toward the horizon.

"I can't be everywhere."

"No."The answer came instantly and knowingly.

"But you can be everywhere that matters."

Yuta paused for a minute as small bird like shikigami came to his shoulder and whispered something that made him widen his eyes.

" I need to go now other sorcerers are on thier way. You should Head to Africa and bring the flash with you...Trust me."

Clark smiled slightly at the young man he respected then took off and vanished into the horizons.

Gotham City

The city was as dark as usual.

This was not ordinary darkness but a curse placed on Gotham long ago.

Batman moved through it with superhuman speed and the certainty of a man who had spent his entire life preparing for nights exactly like this.

He barely used his technique except when facing threats like Darkside.

It simply was simply like a car left to collect dust and now, faced with a threat that could destroy what he held dearly. He chose to let go.

The shadows around him deepened and spread outward like they were alive and turned everything they touched into darkness.

The hybrids that were rampaging stopped.

Not because they had been attacked but because something inside them recognized what lurked in the darkness.

Batman stepped off the gargoyle and the he shadows followed him striking harder.

When hybrids tried to regenerate.

The shadows covered it completely and dragged it into the shadow realm..

A pocket dimension filled with only darkness and terrifying monsters born from it.

Batman looked across the city feeling for other humans then he exhaled. And let the darkness go outward.

He didn't use his technique because it didn't differentiate between foe or friend. It simply consumed all that came into contact with it

Six city blocks disappeared beneath darkness

The hybrids froze as they were dragged down slowly

While Batman just walked between them like they weren't worth acknowledging .

And the things that fellinside did not get a happy ending.

New York

Yuta Okkotsu moved through the City district with senbonzakura drawn and unleashed.

The hybrids were everywhere yet they all fell down one after the other by falsely beautiful petals.

Dozen fell beneath a single motion of his hand.

"Sector Seven clear" Yuta reported as he guided a couple of survivors away towards." Still no sight of geto but he definitely is here."

"Understood, reinforcement will be heading your way ." A soft feminine voice replied back with a tired tone. Sherry birkin typed on her computer as she prepared to connect to other availablea aide .

"That won't be needed." Yuta Sayed softly " they will just get in the way during our fight."

The blonde haired girl stayed silent for a while then sighed exasperatedly. " Don't do anything stupid..."

Yuta smiled and assured her with same comforting confidence he always wore.

"You know me sherry, I won't lose."

Just as he said those words the sound of explosions washed over everyone present there . Glancing backwards at the source far away he frowned deeply .

"I have to go see you later."

Sherry stared at her monitor as the line went dead with resignation" you better keep your words you idiot."
